If he can be 80% of what was in Denver under Gase. Gase knows him well, great advantage there

I like that trade. Got at least a competent TE for a guy we are going to release. Need to restructure his contract though. Hope we still add another TE this offseason, Thomas is injury prone, gained weight after his contract, and cant block. I would have preferred signing Bennett from NE but cant guarantee he would come here, so I like this move.

I hope we add 2 top guards in free agency and a LB + DE and then go to the draft.

Yeah, I'd be nervous about this deal if Gase didn't have history with Thomas. The kid took the big money to go to the Jags and simply didn't play all that well. I think we have a better QB and more offensive weapons, a system Julius already knows, and Gase must believe he can get Thomas back to what he was in Denver. I'd like to see closer to 90% of his Denver numbers, but even 80% would more TE production than what we have had in Miami for a long time.

It is all about a fit. Thomas was not a good fit, but talented. This is exciting news

24 TDs 100+ catches in two years under Gase. Exciting.

Definitely exciting. However, that was with one of the greatest quarterbacks ever throwing him the ball. Here's hoping he can help Tannehill's production, Blake Bortles was complete *** last year.

Reminds me of when we got Dustin Keller, and how optimistic we were. I hope this one works out

Pretty tough comparison considering Dustin Keller looked pretty good until that devastating injury.

    Or Jordan Cameron....

I've seen people say JT is as lazy as they come, just playing for the money. Hopefully Gase can make him great again.

Before the Dolphins officially welcome tight end Julius Thomas to Miami, they’ll need to welcome him to Miami for a physical. Via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, it’s happening on Tuesday.

And it’s more than an exercise in dotting i’s and crossing t’s. As Salguero notes, Thomas hasn’t played in 16 games at any point in his career. In 2016 alone, Thomas had a fractured tailbone, a back injury, an elbow injury, and an ankle injury.

Since becoming a full-time starter in 2013, Thomas has missed 16 total games — a full season of missed playing time in four NFL campaigns. His best year came in 2013, when he caught 65 passes for 788 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added 12 more (but with 299 fewer yards) in 2014. In two seasons with Jacksonville, Thomas has a total of nine touchdown receptions.

A reunion with former Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase could get Thomas back into the end zone more often. Salguero pointed out on Tuesday’s PFT Live that Thomas would arrive with more experience in the Gase system than any other player on the roster.

Ugh. Here's to DJ Swearinger's own career ending in a devastating injury.

I will never forgive him for that. It was the preseason too, what an imbecile. I wish nothing but s***** things for that idiots career.

The only good thing in that injury history is that it's not all the same injury.

Gronk has only played 16 games once. I'm not saying that Thomas is as good as Gronk, but would anyone be upset if the Dolphins got Gronk?

As a Purdue fan, I was ecstatic when we signed Keller. I was always a fan and it killed me that he was on the Jets. He looked like he had some pretty great chemistry with Tannehill too in the preseason, at least Charles Clay ended up playing some pretty good football for us that year.

I always respected Keller's game too, just not that puke green on his back.
