Ya, you dont think watching film of every player on every team in every game individually is more informed than you gasbagging off half info on a message board. please do tell. What ****ing nonsense.

No. They essentially hire people off the street to watch for one or two things and basically make a tick mark on a spreadsheet. It's not what you think it is.

ya, they dont really do that. and second, even if they did, it would be the equivalent of hiring someone like you off the street who would still be doing tons of more actual film work and in depth film study than you actually do, so still 100000X more credible than the garbage you would spew on here without actual film work to back up what you are saying.

you can look at the list of people who grade the specific positions for PFF in this link. They are not only people with several years of NFL experience, but they arent hired "off the street." So please do tell why you continue to just completely make **** up to support your point :)

Yeah, that's exactly what they do. And no, they aren't learning anything. I know, I know, you just saw that behind the curtain wasn't the wizard you traveled all the way to see, but that's ok. You'll be alright.

Does it bother you that you are just spewing complete nonsense that has been completely proven wrong, and that you have been exposed for making up the "issue" you have with PFF and that you dont actually know who is doing their player grades?

    http://www.procoach.network/our-coaches.html

Here is the direct link to the NFL coaches and executives and the specific positions they are grading for PFF. But please continue to make up that they are hiring people off the street. I'd love to hear your basis for that, but i know its just completely made up.

    Jesus.

I'm starting to have a number of issues with you actually. But to your point.....

What do you suppose these people are grading? Data. The data is collected by nobodies.

This isn't all that hard to understand.

First off, the data isnt collected by nobodies. And second off, regardless of their whole structure of grading which you are completely off base about, they are STILL infinitely more informed than you. What the **** is so hard to understand about that? You do not watch film. you do not watch every team. You do not watch every player. YOU ARE NOT AS ****ING INFORMED. what the **** is so hard to understand about that? They are a source of information that is infinitely more informed than anyone on this message board. You call them nobodies. who the **** are you and what amount of research and work are you doing to make your opinion anywhere near the level of informed as theirs? what is so ****ing hard to grasp about that? i dont give a flying **** if you take their grades seriously. My entire opinion is that their grading system is based off tons more expertise and actual film study than you have ever had and ever will do. That is not arguable.

    1) No, it's not.
    2) You are a nobody who watches just about 0 film, if any. These "nobodies", which they aren't, especially considering the amount of NFLpeople with significant experience who play a significant part in the grading process, watch a million times more film than you. That alone, even if you want to incorrectly call them nobodies, makes their opinions infinitely more informed than you. There is literally not a response you can make to that. You want to brush them off incorrectly as nobodies? You sound stupid considering ive posted numerous links showing you exactly who is making those grades, but even if they were "nobodies," they are nobodies actually watching tape as opposed to you doing 0 actual film/research work.

You can attack my film watching all you want, but I've made no claim whatsoever about my prowess one way or the other.

Doesn't change the fact that PFF collects their data with nobodies.

    BB on sites like PFF:

"With all due respect to those websites, I don't really know how some of that information is determined or evaluated," Belichick said on WEEI Tuesday, via CSN New England. "I know that in the past, we've looked at those websites -- not any one in particular -- but just in general we've looked at those websites and said, 'OK, here's their top rated guy. Where are we?' just to kind of gauge where we feel like the value of the websites are. If they're rating them the same as we are, maybe that's something we need to keep a close eye on so we can start to track a lot of guys. If there's some big discrepancy, is there really any value to that? I'd say a lot of that stuff is not real accurate, so take it with a grain of salt."

    BB with more PFF talk:

It might even look to us like somebody made a mistake but then we look at it more closely maybe somebody besides him made a mistake and he was trying to compensate. I think we need a little closer analysis a lot of times. Sometimes the play calls or what was called on the line of scrimmage might be something that we’re not aware of. That could happen in any game. You think a player did something that he shouldn’t have done but maybe he got a call, a line call or a call from a linebacker or he thought the quarterback said something so he did what he thought was the right thing or maybe it was the right thing but that call shouldn’t have been made or should have been on the other side. But yeah, I think we need to be careful about what we’re evaluating.

So sometimes even the team itself doesn’t know exactly where things broke down and who did what wrong. Belichick then went on to talk about watching opposing team’s game films and the impossibilities of knowing what happened:

But believe me, I’ve watched plenty of preseason games this time of year and you’re looking at all the other teams in the league and you try to evaluate players and you’re watching the teams that we’re going to play early in the season and there are plenty of plays where I have no idea what went wrong. Something’s wrong but I don’t…these two guys made a mistake but I don’t know which guy it was or if it was both of them. You just don’t know that. I don’t know how you can know that unless you’re really part of the team and know exactly what was supposed to happen on that play. I know there are a lot of experts out there that have it all figured out but I definitely don’t. This time of year, sometimes it’s hard to figure that out, exactly what they’re trying to do. When somebody makes a mistake, whose mistake is it?

Bill Belichick doesn’t have it figured out. But Pro Football Focus does? They can provide a grade on every play?

And yet again, you guys cant get it through your heads that something can be an incredibly informed, valuable resource without being omnipotent and the end all be all. The difference between you guys discrediting the grades on PFF and Bill Belicheck coming up with different grades on players? He is actually doing his own incredibly deep film study as well. I never said that PFF was the end all be all and ive said that it isnt probably 25 times in this thread alone. But while they dont know exactly what is going on on every play obviously, they are once again immensely more informed than any of you who dont watch any film whatsoever. Literally my only point ive made here and have continued to stress is that they are a valuable opinion and an opinion that is based on in depth film study on every team, player, and play in the league for over 10 years. There isnt really an opinion to discredit there. I continue to say that they are not the final grade and opinion on every player in the league, but they are an immensely informed opinion based on actual film study as opposed to the majority of rhetoric you will get on most players on this message board and throughout the internet that is based on absolutely no research and film study.

The "data" you are referring to is grades that 3 different people watching the same player on each individual play individually. The coaches and analysts who have years of NFL experience in the list ive provided then go over each play and determine if those grades are accurate. So ya, you are incorrect or at the very least completely minimize what the people with significant nfl experience actually do to effect those grades.

No, it's not a grade at that point.

It's nothing more than did Player Y catch the ball and how far did he run with it, type of stuff. That data is then compiled and then graded.
I'm sorry this is so difficult for you to understand.

There is nothing to understand when you are flat out wrong about the grading process. That example is in fact the complete opposite of what the PFF grading system represents, as evidenced by whoever it was before complaining about them giving Aaron Rodgers a slightly negative grade for an unbelievably great statistical performance.

    "
OUR GRADING SYSTEM IS CONCERNED WITH HOW A PLAYER PERFORMED ON A PARTICULAR PLAY, NOT THE OUTCOME OF THAT PLAY.
For example, if a quarterback hits a wide receiver perfectly in stride on a post route in between two defenders, and the receiver drops the ball, it goes down in the box score as an incompletion. But in our system, that quarterback receives a positive grade for making a great throw. His statistics should not be punished based on the fact that his receiver dropped a pass.

Our detailed analysis starts by adding to the base statistics with critical information, including the depth of the drop by the quarterback, the intended and actual point of attack on a run play, and the hang-time of punts and kickoffs on special teams.

We then add to this with a level of detail that surpasses any other data source: the grading of each player on a play-by-play basis to judge how each player has performed on a given play.

This in-depth grading allows us to judge player performance in every facet of the game before compiling individual plays into an overall grade for each player by game, by season, and beyond. As a result, we can show things like how two edge defenders may have the same overall grade, but one is a significantly better run defender while the other is significantly more disruptive as a pass-rusher."

NFL teams use the stats, not the grading system, that's for fans who don't know what they are looking at.

These "experts", lol, you keep mentioning that watch every game, are college students, and many of whom are not even football fans and they are "trained" for 6 months to give pass or fail grades.

PFF is great for stats, slipshod in it's grading.

I find it interesting to yet find someone banging a drum for PFF gradings, as PFF has proven their grading system must be taken with a grain of salt, every single year.

But remember, I have neither a point or a clue as to what I'm doing.

But it's strange, I remember articles being published in the Sun Sentinel and I can't get the notion of of my head that a website I owned was featured on NFLN's Path to the Draft. After several articles written were being passed through NFL circles garnering attention from decision makers on any level. I must be having a bad trip from those mushrooms I guess. Not that that could be reality.

Not to mention being offered a job to work for the very ****ing site you seem to have a hard on for - which was declined as I am interested in making real money, not college student money. But hey why those facts things get in the way of a good narrative.

But at least you used the omnipotent in a sentence. I give you props for that.

But I have an idea, since I don't know how to scout a player without bias why not ask the Mods if they still have a couple of the ones I did on file here. Have at them and let me know if I was wrong - I'd love to hear from an expert.

Just remember nothing I ever did was without bias or having a clue. Hell I never even played football aside from on Madden. That's where I got my ratings from.

I don't know the guy, and he's certainly entitled to his opinion.

The thing I wonder after the outbursts yesterday though.. if we're all stupid and uninformed on websites such as this... why be here? It's ok to have your own opinion, but it's not ok to say everyone else is stupid on websites like these because they don't agree with your opinion. At least that's how I see it.
