So this kid tore his achilles on his pro day. last year two injured players were drafted by the Cowboys and Jags and had a redshirt year. the kid is first round talent, maybe nab him with that 3rd comp pick?

We have seen good athletes coming back from Achilles injuries, some in less than a year. If Jones was available in the 7th round, HELL YA! Draft him. How many 7th rounders make the team? Feel bad for the kid. He was a first round pick. Last few minutes of a pro day workout that meant nothin to his draft status and it's all over. Millions of dollar loss.

I don't think we have the luxury to redshirt a draft pick on him. Maybe if it's like a 6 or 7, sure. I think someone will take a chance on him earlier than we'd be able to because they have the luxury of having drafted better than us over the years or they have multiple earlier picks that we dont. I think we have too many positions of need to fill with a body that can play right now to afford the luxury of taking him any earlier than late rounds. Someone will take that chance though and get a heck of a player probably assuming he recovers fully. I just dont think we have the luxury of making that pick.

I agree with Brandon and Puka. If he's there at the 6th or 7th round pick snatch that kid up.

There is a good chance he could play this season. He's young, UW has some of the best med facilities in the world. I don't think he'll last til 6 or 7th Rd. One of those extra 5ths would be OK. Yeah maybe we miss on someone who may help this year, but the payoff could be huge on that bet.

what exactly are we hoping this year? is that pick in the 3rd going to be a starter? Isn't next year we have the team that has the serious push after acquiring one or two players? FO likes to draft replacements, and he would replace Maxwell next year

Fabian Moreau tore his pectoral muscle at his pro day. He would be another stash-for-a-year mid-round CB option. A pectoral tear is a lot less sketchy than a torn Achilles, and Moreau was posting some serious measurables in pre-combine process. With that being said, Sidney Jones was the better corner in college.

I would use a 5th on him. Mainly because we have 3 of them. Nothing sooner. Achilles is not an easy injury to come back from, especially for change of direction positions.

Absolutely. That would be the perfect time to take a chance on either of the two players.

Jaylon Smith and Myles Jack were drafted in round 2 last year. In the draft you have to think immediate impact versus the future. I'm glad I don't have to make that choice, and just complain about it lol

Exactly what I'm thinking. If Jack and Smith went in the 2nd last year, that'll likely be where Jones goes this year as well to a team with the luxury of using a 2nd round pick on a "redshirt year" player, or a team with multiple second round picks. Which is exactly why I'm saying that team won't be us. We don't have that luxury.

Jack had long term injury concerns and Jaylon Smith was a top 5 pick before his injury.

I would probably agree that they will be gone before the 5th. But we aren't in the position that the cowboys were in. Drafting a 2nd round player you know most likely wont step on the field the first year.

Maybe we end up signing Zach Brown and we dont need that 2nd round linebacker so if he is there when we pick in the 2nd we draft him.
Last season we were trying to move up for Myles Jack so this front office values injured talent and could pull a similar move. Remember once we drafted Jonathan MArtin in the 2nd round, we cant do worse than that
