Have you realized the collection of talent we could have on offense, barring injury? Landry (potential contract year), Stills, Parker and Thomas? Mix that in with Ajayi and Drake, in his second year, and you just pray Tannehill stays healthy. On paper, this could be the best collection of talent, dare I say, since 1984? Football is gut wrenching. For this collection of talent to shine, they have to be on the field, and this defense has to stop the run. But my goodness, training camp can't come soon enough, to see these guys in action! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, we really have some weapons on offense. Only question mark right now are the guards, and hopefully everybody stays healthy. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
Marino >> Tannehill. So even on paper we're far away from the Marino years. But things are definitely looking up, especially with Gase at the helm.
Marino is definitely better than Tannehill- no doubt. But Marino never had a dominant RB that could keep defenses on their toes. He never had a slot receiver that always made the first guy miss on screen passes. Marino did have some deep threats over the years, but never anyone like Parker where you could just throw it up in the air and let the guy get vertical over the defender. And he definitely didn't have a Stills to torch the defense on any given play. So yeah, Marino was definitely better than Tannehill and he also had a better offensive line. But this offense beats Marino's in every other category. To Dirty- yup, I thought the same thing last year once we put these pieces together...this is a very high powered offense that could be one of the best in the league. It's a special group and I still don't think we've seen their best- imagine Tannehill's first game against NE last year AND Ajayi breaking loose like he did against a few teams at the same time? You're talking unstoppable, my friend.
Not where it matters most. In 1984 we were #1 in points scored and #1 in yards per game. Only other time we did that was in 1972 with the perfect season. And we were consistently top 10 in both categories during the early 90's. So having Marino in a less balanced offense is worlds better, even on paper, than the more balanced offense we have now. You do realize we had Ajayi and Landry last year too. And we were #17 in points scored and #24 in yards per game. No.. our offense is nowhere near as good on paper as we were in 1984 or even in the early 1990's and it's mostly because of one player: Marino.
I think we get one or two in the draft, one in the 3rd as highest. There are the June 1 cuts too. I agree we need guards, but I have faith in Gase and the collection of weapons we have are very good (on paper)
