It's not anniver reaction adding him to that offense and it's over for the afc with Brady, two good tight ends, a legit #1 and AP in the backfield defenses are going to just give up. That's way to potent a combination and he would be willing to do it for less I bet to win a Super Bowl
Can't focus on what the they are doing, we have to get ourselves in a position to continually improve each year. I mean really, we struggled against them with their 2nd and 3rd string QBs, so we have more to focus on than if they add AP.
At this point in free agency, a visit would be because a framework has been established. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First off, I'd take the J-train over Peterson any day of the week. Second, Peterson is 32 and is coming off of a long time-out...which means that he's not anywhere near his prime anymore. In the three games he did play last season, he averaged a whopping 1.9 yards per carry. So let's call this what it really is- a once-great who's looking for any chance he can get. In any case, I'm not fearing Peterson signing with NE.
To play devil's advocate. The Pats seem to be able to resurrect the career of declining players. Saying that, I don't think he signs with them. I think he wants too much money.
guess he wanted to much and they have a younger back who managed to get them to the Superbowl anyway. Its all about the Offensive line for the most part with few special exceptions.
I think it would actually be fun to watch Wake and Suh and Timmons and Alonso and the MEN on our team beat his punk *** into the ground for two games next year and end his career. I would contribute to the Go Fund Me account to pay the fines for any "dirty hits" and or bounties issued for broken body parts. Never wanted a player to get hurt, til this MalaFala came along. Somebody needs to BREAK that f>er
You could be right- maybe he has an awesome year somewhere if he can find a team with a great line (Dallas, NE, etc.). Statistically speaking though, running backs in their 30's tend to be single down specialists that look for big plays.
He's one of the greatest players at that position ever imho, and as a former running back that guy is a ****ing stud. He is past his prime, but overrated is not a word I'd ever use when discussing him.
Con, if a player doesn't go in your top ten of all time can we really say he's one of the greatest of all time? Jim Brown Barry Sanders Walter Payton OJ simpson Emmitt Smith Marshall Faulk Ladanian Tomlinson Eric Dickerson Marcus Allen Gale Sayers
Larry Csonka Mercury Morris Jim Riggins Jerome Bettis Terrel Davis Ricky Williams Ricky Waters Roger Craig Bo Jackson Earl Campbell Marcus Allen Tony Dorsett
I'm into two dimensional threats at the position like a Marcus Allen or a Roger Craig..Those 10 I listed would be players I would def want over ap, but theres a few more out there. AP is to 1 dimensional for me to say he's one of the greatest of all time...maybe I need to define how many players you can put in the ''one of the greatest of all time'' categories. AP also fumbled a lot and if I remember correctly doesn't do well unless he has a fullback.
If we're talking greatest all time I think production has weigh in, and only a very small group of RBs have produced at APs level. Lets toss out the 2 years AP didn't play, he had 72 and 75 yds in those years, in the other 8 years of his career he avgs 1400+yds and 12 TDs per year, is one of I think 3 RBs to have 8 double digit TD seasons. AP is in rare company when it comes to being dominant for a decade at RB, he's 26th in att, 16th in yds and 10th in TDs and did it all in 8 seasons, very few can compare with that production, as far as fumbles, AP isn't bad, now OJ and ED, they were bad, lol, but AP is about avg.
I judge based on the threat and overall talent the players brings to the table, the ten I listed are players I would take over ap..jmo.. I also think Steve young is the best QB of all time but that's just me.
in todays game, you can't compare RB's from different era's, imo....the game is much faster and more hard hitting, we will never find out if those RB's in the early years would have had success today.
I disagree..Lawrence Taylor is still the best player I've ever seen.. Oj Simpson would cut the nfl up, pun intended the POS. Jim brown would truck fools.. half of fame talent transcends at the position. you gonna tell me sweetness wouldn't of been sweet...sheeeeeeet Alex...whos better than Walter Payton right now...david johnson? bell? not a chance..
18 inches of daylight is all he ever needed, and all he would get today (at least with our OL)and he would still be the G.O.A.T. Put Beatshisson's career up gainst Sayers career. Tell me bout that. I would put any one of the names on DJ's and my list and I'm sure we are missing a few more (Curtis Martin) over Beatshissons career based production and value to the team any day
I agree with Alex, none of those guys would have the same success in todays game that they had when they played. For LT I can name two 3-4 OLBs I think are better, Miller and Harrison. OJ? With his fumbling problems would have a hard time getting on the field I think. Brown, he was a behemoth when he played, as big as anyone on the field, but the reality now is that he's the same size as Bell. Payton vs Bell? I'd take Bell everyday of the week, far more talented, longevity is Payton's biggest hallmark.
lol.. No LB'er playing is as good as LT. OJ would run over today's NFL. Brown was 6'2" and 235-240 lbs. when he played. Bell is 6'1" 220. Brown would run over today's NFL. Anyone who would take Bell over Payton is just crazy. And that's being nice. ahahahahahha
Someone said they'd take Bell over Sweetness?!??!?!??!?!??! Bell, who will be forgotten in 10 years is better than one of the greatest football players of all time?!??!?!??! That's like saying you'd take Romo over Montana.
I know. Coffee nearly flew out of my nose when I read that he'd take Bell over Payton. hahaha He also insinuated that Jim Brown is "small" by today's RB standards. haha
LT is overwhelmingly considered the greatest defender of all time, and I watched him play and agree. Your opinion though..but good luck with that finster.
Best ever means in their era though, I wouldn't argue with someone who says LT is the greatest defender ever, however, we were talking about these players in todays NFL. I know times flies, but it's been 35 years since LT came into the league and players as always, get bigger stronger faster, more sports science crafted athletes.
You can compare players from different eras and it's not that hard. How much of a difference was there between LT and any other LB in the NFL when he played? Miles upon miles for the majority of his career. There was no question who the best LB was during the majority of the time LT played. How much difference was there between Marino and the rest of the NFL's QB's when he played? Miles and miles for the majority of his career. What LB can you say that about today? Kuechly? Maybe... But, IMO, no one is tha far ahead of the pack like LT was. The excuse of "players today are faster, bigger etc today" is a lazy one. They all, during all eras, played against guys that were relative in height and weight and speed. LT was around 6'3", 250lbs and ran a 4.4-4.5 40 yard dash. He would be the best LB in the league today if he was still playing.
