Do.Not.Give.A.**** Was listening to an interview with John Harris on the radio and he says people in the know are buying his water reasoning, and don't see him as a problem guy.
At this point, I think Miami should just take Peppers and Foster off their board. I do like both players from a talent stand point, but having one or the other in the NFL Substance Program before even donning the jersey is just too high a risk. We need players on the field with a long term view, not players that are randomly getting drug tests and possibly missing multiple games. I'm usually the gambling type, but this is just too rich for my blood now. I am hoping for a willing trade partner to trade down with some QB's still left on the board, and then looking for names like TJ Watt, Obi Melifonwu, or Jordan Willis. This is my ideal scenario. I also have zero trust in Mike Pouncey (since his body is made from fine china), so if Lamp is there at #22 then I'm all aboard grabbing him. Hell, I'd even come back in the third and look for Pat Elflein or Ethan Pocic to double down. I really wish that we didn't have such a high need for a guard (and insurance at center), because this draft is so deep with defensive talent. At the very least, I just hope we come out of this draft with a G/C, DE, LB, S, and DL that are quality players with a good floor and high ceiling. Here's to hoping.
I like Josh Jones a lot, myself. He has that combination of size and speed that you love, huge hops, and has smooth fluidity in his movement.
It's possible to dilute by drinking copious amounts of water. If you fail to a masking agent a lot of times the tests will pick that up and it will be a failure due to masking.
The NFL calls it diluted sample, if it doesn't reach a certain specific gravity, and creatinine levels then it's a dilute sample, and masking agents do that. I also checked out the water thing and you're right, a copious amount of water in a short amount of time prior to the test can dilute a sample, but the NFL doesn't distinguish between masking agents and water. It's all diluted sample to them because you have to go out of your way to dilute a sample with water, so the odds of Peppers diluting it unknowingly are extremely low.
Except Tunsil didnt test positive for anything, he just happened to be on video. Peppers will be suspended significantly the next time he fails a test. Do we want to go this route again like we did with Dion? Peppers now has to go through 12 tests a month by the way. And i really have no opinion on weed or people who do it, i dont smoke personally but i do question the character of these people. You know the combine is coming and its the most important day of your life, why risk it?
I've had to quit smoking for a month just to go visit the in-laws. For a chance at winning the lottery and making my dreams come true!?!?Child please. Easiest thing in the world. And I smoke from get up to go down every flippin day. I always thought if I had Ricky Williams money and talent I would find a brother who looked close, maybe pay for a little cosmetics and say heres 250k a year. Don't smoke, be ready to go pee when I tell you too. For that matter, whats it cost to pay off a UA tech?
Yeah, but the thing is it's not that Peppers tested positive and Tunsil didn't, it's that both will be deemed "risky". And from what I understand, Peppers will be tested for 6 months, but I didn't see how many times per month.
I like taco but it's more about upside than what he is right now...as in 2 years down the road...his recognition of things must get better and he must get more stout at the poa even in our wide 9...the upside though isn't athletic upside it's maximizing the gifts he does have which are as fluid hips and cod as any 6 foot 6 275 lber you will ever find...those hips scream for a inside redirect counter which he doesn't have right now but his length and his no wasted motion redirect and angles he takes to the ball are tailor made for the stunt and twist game as a de... but he's not a safe pick...that interview we did better be about finding out how much he loves the game...and hopefully putting him on the chalk board and finding out his where his football iq is...
Well, watching someone smoke weed out of a bong gas mask is pretty risky. lol...I think both are "positive" results.
If the vid had been recent I'd agree(although at the time it seemed about as risky as anything I'd seen), but it was a couple years old, and the league can't use that against him, unlike the positive test, Peppers "grace period" is over. I don't buy Peppers excuse, he was trying to mask something and that's a huge concern imo.
The "League" used it against him by knocking him out of the top 3-5 draft picks. Make no mistake, he lost about $8-$10 million because of that video.
I'm continuing to hear the asiata name so watch for it at 54 if we don't go lamp at 22 theres a player we have told in the front 7 we like but don't need to meet with I'm betting that's Derek Barnett but I'm expecting him to be gone top 20 in front of us...which is ok with me cause I see a lot of derrick morgan in him with better hand use
That wasn't a league punishment though, that was just a handful of individual teams passing on him. The same thing will happen to Peppers, along with already having a strike against him, and a potential recurring problem.
I agree that it's worse that he's got a strike. And it will cost him some money. However, I'm not so sure that his "diluted sample" will scare teams in the same way the video did.
It will scare them because the next strike and hes suspended four games, then 8, then a full season. Look how great it turned out for the cowboys selecting gregory.. dude has been nothing short of a bust
While I see your point, Gregory had a much more peppered (I'm sorry) past with substance abuse than Jabrill Peppers has had.
No i question the character of people who use a substance that is BANNED by NCAA and the NFL and yet still do it. If you cant hold off weed for a chance at the NFK, then your priorities aren't where theyre suppose to be
Not sure what substance it is but some of these substances are what got them to the level they're at and a shot at getting drafted. Maybe it lasted too long in his system. Not sure that the NCAA is testing.
Obviously he was just really thirsty and drank lots of water, and the league just hatin on him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So for the water thing ... do not forget he was doing a double combine workout, and was apparently not feeling well. He claims he was very worried about cramps and thus was going overboard with the water. Far as I can tell, there was not anything specific in his sample - it was diluted. Now, yes that could be masking agents, but it can be accidental. I would buy the excuse in this case. Just again does not seem like a problem kid. Foster on the other hand, I would have concerns about. BTW, if the NFL was smart and forward thinking (HAHAHAHA) they would drop MJ testing now. It causes more headache than needed.
The amount of water he would need to drink to dilute would lead to cramps, and it would be nearly impossible to work out with that much water in your gut. It would be extremely unlikely to drink that much water by accident, to bring your specific gravity that low.
The thing is, we're not talking about a lot of water, we're talking a huge amount of water in a short amount of time just prior to the test, bloated stomach huge, the reason it's an automatic fail is because especially for athletes, it's nearly impossible to do it by accident.
Tunsil never tested positive, never lied about it and owned up. This gives me Shane Ray flashbacks from a couple years ago. It takes a special kind of stupid to risk testing positive for the combine. I hope they pass on Peppers if he's there at 22
No, unless you're about to get a few million dollars and they're going to alcohol test you. Notice he said he questions their character because they're about to fulfill their life's dreams ... but can't stay away from a little weed. I smoked weed daily through high school and college but it was never addicting. Needed to stop? I stopped. It's not as physically addicting like other harder stuff.
It's not hard, albeit a pain in the butt, to drink enough water to come up with a dilute test. But yes, If you drink too much water you can "cramp". Which is basically your body telling you that you're electrolyte levels are to low which can cause things like heart arrhythmias, muscle spasms, and/or death.
It's hard to do by accident though, like you said, it's a pain in the butt(if doing on purpose), especially when you're working out, because drinking that much water in such a short time will prohibit you from exercise. I'm actually speaking from experience, I've done it to pass a UA at a job some years ago, it was difficult to drink that much, and uncomfortable, running would be out of the question and probably would have made me vomit.
