Trade Parker for a 2nd that we bundle with #54 for another first round pick?

You left out "anti-social and meek" in my description of him. Both, of course, being the opposite of "alpha".

I don't think "alpha" means super star when Gase or the rest of the coaching staff mentions the word.

“When we say alpha, it’s those guys that love football, that are mentally and physically tough. They’re not afraid of challenges; they love to compete. It was stuff that we talked about a lot through the process and obviously you guys have been around Coach (Adam) Gase. He definitely has that mentality. We’ve tried to change the roster, the guys we added, especially on the pro side, too, through free agency. We’ve been aggressively looking for players like that. I think that’s the only way you can win.”
    --- GM Chris Grier

Parker has shown that he is, currently, none of those things.

What do you think Marvin Harrison was? He was terribly anti-social. Reggie Wayne had a locker next to Harrison's and they never talked.

If you want to call him meek, as the reason he'll never mentally love football, that's up to you. I don't know him well enough, nor have interacted with him, to call him meek. We know he's won plenty of battles on the field at the point. That's all that matters.

Parker is not the alpha now, so of course he won't fit the description. Everyone is saying he's the only one who can physically become that, once he's mentally there. The only thing holding him back is the mental aspect of it. But his social behavior has nothing to do with it. See, Harrison.

As for what Grier defines as alpha, cool. When he jumps in this thread, we'll talk ;)

I'm going off of what dirtylandry and Dorfdad were talking about. Notice he lumped in AJ Green as an alpha. An alpha WR is different than an alpha male. What Grier is talking about looks like it's describing an alpha male/player. They want 52 alphas. What people in this thread is talking about is Parker becoming that 1300+ 10 TD WR. Julio Jones. AJ Green. Dez. Allen Robinson for a year. A Brown. Etc.

What the other two posters were talking about were alpha WRs. The #1. Notice Dorfdad said Parker could be the alpha and Landry would still talk more? AJ Green doesn't yell at anyone, or prance around trying to motivate. Julio Jones doesn't seem to either but he talks a little bit more I believe.

We went through everything to get Caroo who we gave up there picks for. The thinking is that if Parker would be dealt away for a 2 then we would try to plug in Caroo. Don't know if he's up to the job or not. But we gave up a lot for him so I'd like to see what he can do.

I'm floating a potential scenario here. Parker's yet to even have 800 yds receiving in a year and has a whopping 7 tds. TO me that seems like someone that is underperforming and maybe another team thinks can do better in a different system ( I just think the guy's a lazy cry baby and he needs to man up).

So you're saying that it's an unfair expectation that a first round pick should be a pro bowler in their second year? If not, why would you use a first round pick on them? You don't spend a first round pick on an average player. You seem to be more accepting of mediocre results than I am.

We gave up a 3rd for Caroo that's not "a lot." Secondly, as you say, nobody has any idea if Caroo has NFL starting ability. Parker does and has shown that, despite limited playing time.

Parker's stats are irrelevant at the moment, he hasn't played a full season. And he had almost 800 yards and 4 TD's on a bum hamstring that hamstrung (pun intended) all season. Even Gase went out of his way to say, Parker has played very well despite playing on one leg all season.

The fact is, if you extrapolate his numbers over the course of a full season, you would not be suggesting getting rid of him. The lazy crybaby thing is out of left field. I don't know where you're getting that from, but OK... As far as the system is concerned, he's perfect for our current one.

Parker has pro bowl ability. He has top 10 WR in the NFL talent. So it's irrelevant that he didn't make the pro bowl... He's under 25, has the size, speed, hands, ball skills, etc... of a star, and has flashed plenty of talent and ability. Getting rid of those types of players because he hasn't been healthy (lets be clear, neither injury is a long term concern, mostly bad just luck with the screw in his foot coming loose and a hamstring pull) after only two years is silly. He's a 1500, 10 TD style receiver in an offense that loves to feed the X receiver. No reason to give up on him.

exactly, we are already bad on defense. if anything, stockpile offense and play every game 34-31. I'll take my chances

So you essentially want to sacrifice a mid 1st rounder, a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and a 6th to acquire a late 1st rounder this year? ooookay.

Uhhh yes. There's a thing called "realistic expectations", which Clark Kent and the rest of the NFL world live by, and then there's lala land expectations where impatient fans reside who believe all 1st rounders are wastes of space if they aren't Pro Bowlers by year 2. Take a football valium or something man and give the young players a chance to actually develop before attempting to sell low on them.

Seriously man, look at it on paper. You're talking about gutting half of our WR corps, giving up a mid 1st rounder (Parker), 3rd, 4th, and 6th rounders (Caroo) in the process, plus this year's 2nd rounder in exchange for ONE DRAFT PICK, a late 1st rounder, to acquire a player who is also UNPROVEN in the NFL.

It's just funny how you think a pair of young talented Miami receivers are already deemed busts, as well as whomever we draft in round 2 this year, but that the late 1st round player we acquire using your trade scenario is somehow predestined to be a Pro Bowler. That then begs the question, if this late 1st rounder of yours is soooo guaranteed to be a Pro Bowler, then how the hell is he a late 1st rounder to begin with? :wink2: Apply some common sense.

No way. I get that Parker has disappointed but let's compare to a WR from the same draft class that everyone fawns over named Amari Cooper.

Cooper 262 targets, 155 rec, 2223 yards, 11 touchdowns, 14.3 yards per reception, 8.48 yards per target.
Parker 137 targets, 82 rec, 1238 yards, 7 touchdowns, 15.1 yards per reception, 9.03 yards per target

I'm not sure if Parker will match Cooper's production because Miami has so many other targets but those are strong efficiency numbers. I think that's worth more than a 2nd to be used as a trade fodder. And he is also under contract for 3 more seasons if the option is exercised.

I'm not willing to give up on Parker yet, I see why some people are but we also have to remember that Tannehill didn't really start getting it together until about week 6 maybe. He got off to a slow start then started showing flashes I could be wrong though and could of just been seeing things.

Please don't go full Carroo, I'm not sure I can handle a second thread of pure gold comedy.

I'm not the most patient fan out there, and I've been known to judge player after one season, much less two, but Parker hasn't been that bad that I'd want to give up on him at this point.

Let's trade Parker on the eve of him actually being a player worth drafting #9 overall. NOT!!

Of the group of Landry, Stills and Parker, I feel Landry has the skill set that's most replaceable. I know we love his 'spirit', but I don't like the 15-yard penalties that spirit often leads to. Is our roster short of guys who can make plays out of the slot? We're definitely short of guys who can win on the perimeter.
Does Landry get so many catches because he's good, or is it often because he's not far from the line of scrimmage and the defense is willing to give us that at 7 yrds a clip?

What did he post? Unless it was related to football or confessing to criminal activity, I really don't care when it comes to having him as a player.
