This reminds me of Tyrann Mathieu all over again. I remember talking out loud to myself asking why so many times.

Please don't call me budy. Spellcheck doesn't even know what you mean.

Anybody with any football sense is making a living off their football sense and you or I thinking we are any smarter is silly. And yes There were a lot of other options available.
You are a negative nelly and that's ok. I'm good with the pick. I'm a numbers guy. Miami's number is 13. It is.

91, Harris' number, and most likely the number of the player he's destined to replace is 7 times 13. How could they have picked anyone else?

Seriously, numerology now? Check out this scouting report on charles harris. This guy nails it as far what charles harris really is. Gives him a fourth round grade.

There are plenty of clueless idiots getting paid in the NFL. Grier does not have a great record of drafting with the dolphins neither does tannenbaum.

This was a very bad first round pick. Very similar to Dion Jordan a tweener type athlete with no defined position and a very raw and flawed game overall. Except he is not even as good an athlete as Dion was.

only the people who didn't study. a lot of folks are butthurt they were completely off on our draft board, Grier ran an excellent misdirect. great value, lowest grade ive seen from people who actively do this for a living is B+.

Why not numerology? I'm not claiming to be a numerology expert either. How does my lack of qualifications in the field of numerology differ from your lack of qualification in NFL talent analasis? Assuming I lack qualification in the field of numerology that is?

Mayocks third rated DE by the way, not that he's an expert or anything either...

Cheer the flip up dude, tis the season of optimism and unicorns farting flippin glitter. They just made the best pick in the history of picks. Or not, but for today I BELIEVE!!!!

Charlie Campbell has been mocking Charles Harris to us since before this past college football season even started. Even Armando posted an article a week or two ago how Barnett and Harris we're targets. I don't understand how people wouldn't have had Harris in their basket of expectations. I think they're getting too hung up on height and weight and dismissed him as a possible target.

People are saying Harris is small, Cam Wake isn't exactly 300 pounds. I'm not trying to compare the 2 also.

Yeah, wake also runs a 4.5 40, harris runs a 4.84 even though he is 11 pounds lighter. Keep comparing.

Harris in the first round is a terrible pick.

I really don't care if he was mocked to us or not. It is a waste of a First round pick. There were much better players available and even better edge rushers as well.

I really don't care if I was off or not. I didn't even predict a first round pick my only concern is that we actually picked somebody worth it. There were about 20 other guys I would have picked instead of Charles Harris.

and yet youre sitting here arguing with literally everyone else in the thread. you are pounding "terrible pick" into post after post with nothing but 40 times as your basis?

give us something. "terrible pick" doesn't have any meat behind it, ffs. the team identified DE as a high need, pass rushers are a COMMODITY POSITON in todays nfl and we got the 2nd or 3rd best DE on the board at 22. i dont see the travesty.

BPA works for teams with a myriad of needs. this team has a handful of holes. you target impactimprovements at this point.

Take 2 seconds and take a deep breath, I said I'm not comparing the two let him at least play a down first before you can say it's a terrible pick. Just remember Chicago reached for Trubisky (who I actually do like) and it could end up being a really bad pick he may also end up being the next Aaron Rodgers. The NFL draft is what makes one of the perks of being a fan great we can either see future stars or just players that didn't turn out to mount for much. Just because you dislike the like doesn't mean he will be a bust.

I didn't use 40 times. Someone wanted to compare him to wake which is a non comparison wake is s much better athlete which is why I used the 40 time.

Charles Harris is terrible against the run, gets pushed around and manhandled and is not really as good an athlete as people think. He has pedestrian pursuit speed. All he has at this point is a good first step, a good spin move, and some short area quickness. Not a day one starter material which is what you want out of a first round pick.

It gives you a good idea of their pursuit speed which a lot of times makes a difference between getting the tackle/sack or coming up short. If you watch harris tape you will see his pursuit speed is pedestrian. He has some good short area quickness to get penetration but when he had to go into pursuit mode he would often come up short either missing the tackle or being too slow to get to the quarterback before the ball came out.

I liked Foster a lot. Apparently, he needs another shoulder surgery before he can play. I hate drafting injured players.

Neither do I but unless it's a chronic injury, we should've drafted him because I don't think we're winning the SB this year anyway with Harris or any other pick.

Not that I'm necessarily advocating this, but I wonder if the Dolphins are interested in also getting more of an interior guy with size like Kpassagnon.

    So CAL
There's a lot of good and bad in this thread, one thing im wondering is if we are interested in run stopping (which I hope is on their minds) doesn't Missouri play the old philly wide 9(align)? From what I heard philly was seriously considering him at 14 and passed on him and took the beast from TENN, my personal opinion even though he is hurt foster would have been the pick, or even WATT. There was way too much talent on the board to take Harris IMO. We drafted small pass rusher in Jordan and look how that turned out, all im saying is I think someone really needs to think bout what the hell is going on. I hope I am wrong and this kid learns from 91 and becomes a beast.

Luckily we don't have Philbin coaching the team any more. I am sure Gase won't ask Harris to pack on 20 lbs.

In order to hold up against the run he is going to need to add at least 10 to 15 pounds and get stronger. Otherwise we just drafted a situational pass rusher in the first round.

His weight really has nothing to due with his strength or ability to get better against the run.

So we get a top 15 rated player at 22 and people are upset? Weird.

He definitely has deficiencies in the run game. He has a lot of work to do in that area. However, in a division where the goal for every team is to build a defense that can stop Tom Brady, you need pass rushers and lots of them. Harris is an elite level pass rusher. Hell, he has been more consistent and productive through his college career than Myles Garrett.

I imagine dolphins will get their guard at 2:22 and their LB/DB at 3:33. Folks need to relax. The draft has worked out perfectly for Miami with so many offensive skill players coming off the board in the 1st.

Harris seems to also have a better motor and love for the game than Garrett. Not saying he's better or will be better, but it's something to consider. I think those who "hate" the pick just don't know anything about him.

Also, I doubt they go OG with their 2:22...S/CB/TE would be my guess depending on who is there.

If Lamp is still there I think they pull the trigger, if not you are probably right. I am hoping that Chidobe Awuzie falls to 22. Would be a great DB for this defense.

If Lamp is there at 54 you sprint to the box with his name. Awuzie is great value there as well. Both will likely be gone.

Seriously comparing him to Myles Garret? There were at least three other edge rushers on the board who I would have picked ahead of harris. Namely Jordan Willis, Takk McKinley and Tim Williams, in that order.

Garrett is an athletic freak, and has a prototypical frame for a rush DE. The comparison was in their consistency. Over their entire careers, game to game, I feel like Harris as well as quite a few other DE's were more consistent.

Agreed, but that could be said for several other guys. Again I would rate harris as the 6th or 7th best edge defender in this draft and not worth a first round pick.

I would put Garrett, Barnett, Jordan Willis, Takk McKinley, Tim Williams, and maybe even Tyus Bowser all ahead of him. In that order.

In regards to their love for the game and the fact that Myles takes plays off, yes.

And you're going to say that Williams and Willis are better, but how many DE's/OLB's were picked before them last night? If you include Harris...8...8 picked ahead of Willis and Williams and 7 picked before Takk (Whom I also like). I love all those guys, but Harris is a 1st round player. And Williams does NOTHING except rush the QB. He doesn't play well in coverage and he doesn't play well against the run. I think those things he could learn, but Harris is already good in coverage and can also learn to stop the run.

I really don't care how many guys were picked ahead of Willis. Remember how many QBs were picked ahead of Marino? NFL concensus scouting is very often completely wrong. He was the best edge defender available and should have been the pick. Willis is a lot better rusher and overall player than Harris is. He has also been more productive, is a better athlete and likewise has a high motor and zero character or injury concerns.

I think the biggest complaint any football fan can have about Harris is that he is not an immediate starter on the DL. He will definitely get on the field in passing down situations, but he will need to work on his game to become an every down player, or at the very least not a liability in the run game. I get the sense though that he wants to learn and he wants to work.

Have to keep in mind this kid is relatively new to football as well. Didn't even start playing until late in his high school career and was only at Mizzou for 3 years so 4 or 5 years total playing time.
