Trent only had one other game over 90.

I'm gonna call BS on this one.

    Beck had 5 games.

In Trent's first 5 games, he had 1 TD and 5 Ints.

In Beck's 5 games, he had 1 TD and 3 Ints.

Granted, fumbles were a problem for Beck since he had 7 to Trent's 1. That, honestly, is the only place Trent is definitively above Beck, since we didn't get to see Beck in a situation to win the starting job. He was put in in order to appease the masses and the powers that be.

Problem is, he wasn't allowed the luxury of growing into the position that Trent was.

    IMO.

...and for the record, I'll be happy if either if our young QBs plays lights out and wins the starting job for next year. I just believe Beck should be given every opportunity to succeed (or fail) that any other player gets.

Who brought Beck into this??? this was about Edwards, who really hasn't shown much yet. I mean lets be honest, ryan Leaf showed promise the first year, you sound as if Edwards is a great player in Buffalo (he might be) someday.

Of course youre going to call BS. This doesn't fit the "Beck is going to be great narrative"....

And 7 fumbles to one isn't just "small difference". Its tremendous.

    Also in completion pct.

I hope Beck turns out to be the next Joe Montana. I really do. I would love it and I hope that Edwards turns out to be the next Ryan Leaf. But....from what we've seen last year, and in this offseason, it ain't happening, in either case. But thanks for playing....NEXT.

Point out to me one time that I said "Beck is going to be great."

    Just one.

While you're at it, point out where I said that 7 fumbles to 1 is a "small difference."

You have decided after five games that Beck doesn't have it. That's fine. Your choice. However, my argument, and the argument of many others is that you don't throw out everything in the furnished house you just bought at auction without checking to see if any of the "crap" is worth something.

Relax. Things get heated. Sorry if I misquoted you, it wasn't my intention.

Look, tonight we got to see the future of Miami QBing, and its in the form of Chad Henne.

The kid can play. He'll take this year, and whatever he needs of next to develop and he could be behind center for a decade.

Thats whats important. We are all Fins fans. :hi5:

Hmmm, any other player? Beck has already gotten much more of an opportunity than Cameron gave Culpepper.

No doubt. Love how Henne looked tonight. If our team ends up horrible and Henne has to start a few games and does badly, I just hope fans don't give up on him quite so quickly...

Remember, Beck looked pretty damn good in preseason last year, too...

    Culpepper: 84 starts
    Beck: 4 starts

    :tongue2:

They worked with him through the offseason. He had the most time to learn this offense of the three QBs we started with in camp. And whereas Edwards is in a legitimate battle for the starting QB spot in Buffalo with a resurgent Losman, Beck failed to separate himself from the journeyman McCown and rookie Henne. That is the plain and simple truth.

Offseason is completely different from the regular season. Who knows how well Beck would be doing if Cameron had started him and kept him starting. Edwards was handed the reigns when Losman struggled and was allowed to sink or swim on his own.

McCown, IMO, was the one that needed to separate himself from the pack. Beck is a second-year QB that had four starts on a crappy team with a coach that was in panic mode.

Like I said before: Many people have decided that Beck is a bust after five games. Thats fine... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just don't believe you throw away a high draft pick... ...which, sadly, is what our team has been doing for years. :pity:

Or how poorly he would be doing. It's easy to speculate that had Beck had just one or two more starts he may have broken through, but there is nothing to support the speculation.

Nobody likes to throw away a high draft pick, but high draft picks are not always guarantees to be top tier players. Sometimes it can hurt a team just as much to stick with a guy out of some feeling that they must get value out of an already used draft pick. This league is filled with 1st to 3rd round QBs who will likely be backups for the rest of their careers.

There is, however, also nothing to support the speculation that he won't.

I have no problem with Beck being a backup his entire career. But when the choice is McCown, who couldn't pull away from Beck and Henne in the offseason, or Beck, who has proven, in this offseason, to be at least equal to McCown, you pick the one with the bigger upside...

    you're counting the preseason?

    have it your way, right?

he actually had one other game with a rating over 90 and one other game with a rating over 80. edwards only threw touchdowns in 3 out of his 10 starts, and the buffalo offense was seldom a threat to score. their offense was horrible.

again, this post has nothing to do with beck.
