I saw John Wick 2 a couple of weeks ago, all I will say is the only possible way to dislike the movie is if you dislike really good kick arse action films.

Just watched A Dog's Purpose. Not the best writing, but if you love dogs, you should watch it. I actually cried for a good portion of the movie, my wife went through a box of tissues. After having lost 2 dogs the past 3 years, this movie got to me big time.

GoG2 was incredible. I LOVE that they had the balls to make some of the choices they did like double down on the comedy, for example.

Like in the big battle scene to not only spend time looking for tape but going the full Pac-Man. That was ballsy as hell and could only come from a studio with such a track record as Marvel.

I agree totally. Like I said in the Marvel thread, its not a 10/10 like the first one (now one of my favorite movies of all time), but it was still really good, and they stayed true to themselves. My only regret is that they did give away some of the best lines in the trailers, and I wish that they hadn't.

Either way, really looking forward to more from these guys in their third movie, as well as the next Avengers movie.

yeah, the tape seen was great. Kurt Russell was much better than expected. Sly Stallone was a little lame, but luckily his role was minor

I watched Pixels last night, and Im glad that I didn't have high expectations. Man, Adam Sandler just does not care anymore. Most people would be fired from their jobs for giving such little effort at their job.

Although its an naturally silly concept, its a movie that could have actually be a really fun, goofball comedy had it been done by a director and lead actor who gave a crap. The outline was there, but the details were all garbage.

I couldn't watch it when the family was watching it. Sandler has been terrible for awhile for the reasons you stated.
In the last 10 years, he's had quite a few movies and they were all awful. The exception might be average comedy "Blended" and the animated Hotel Transylvania.

My kids love the Hotel Trasylvania movies, but they're pretty awful. To his credit, Sandler seems to try and give a good performance as a voice actor, but the movie itself is just terrible.

LOGAN... had to digest this movie a bit as it was a far cry from what we were introduced to 17 years ago with the pairing of Wolverine and Professor X. This movie captured a lot of Clint Eastwood's spirit in it and reminded me of The Gauntlet and at times Unforgiven.

    Spoilers...

The year is 2029, most of the x-men and Wolvie's buddies are dead, and he's an aging, alcoholic hero who wants to wallow in self-loathing while taking care of Prof X, and feels he has nothing to live for - until he sullenly, begrudgingly does. His adamantium coated bones are poisoning him, his healing ability fading, one claw not working correctly, and he's dealing with low life's as a hired driver while caring for a sickly Prof X, who is subject to dementia and seizures that causes tremors and paralysis to those within 50 yards or so of him.

The appears a slick, patronizing mercenary with a mechanical hand telling him to mind his own bidness and if he sees a Mexican woman and kid to contact him - if Logan knows what's good for him. BTW, the merc is a "big fan" of Wolvies. Really thought the actor for Pierce, the merc leader did a good job of being a complete douche. lol...

Anyway, all these para-black-military merc types are after the little girl. What's her power? Eating cereal and throwing things?" Opts, Wolvie to Prof X. Well, it's not long after that we find out - she's a feral baby-girl version of Wolverine and complete little bad-azz, including feet claws. Loved it when she rolled the head of the nasty looking merc sent in to cuff her and bring her out. "Now, Laura darling. You just stay calm." lmao... "Does she remind you of anyone?" Prof X asks Logan. Yeah, she does - both Wolverine and Jean Grey - the eyebrows and how she silently communicated with Prof X.

Anyway, lots of cool stuff and car chase scenes. Loved that Logan's limo couldn't bust thru the chain link and it became a weapon of it's own.

Also, lots of touching moments where Wolvie cares for Charles in his own gruff way and even pretends that Charles "Chuck" is own, very annoying, Dad.

The last fight scenes were epic. My favorite parts were when Laura used Logan as a ramp to leap up in the air ala Sabertooth and come down slashing and how she for thighs often.

As they were fighting right on the Canadian/US border, I kept hoping to see a cameo of Liev Schreiber returning as that nasty cat to help out his little brother, "Jimmy".

Really great action in this movie though and lots of gore and cool stuff like claws thru people's heads, severed limbs, and a surprising amount of bad language. This ain't your previous Wolverine movie and it's a great modern take on the old Western tradition in the mold of old man making a difference. There was even a "Shane", the famous western, moment where Charles was watching the movie and explaining it to Laura.

In the end, what we got was that it was Wolverine who killed Wolverine. A fitting ending movie for the lone character, though I won't be surprised to see him re-cast in more x-men specific movies in the future.

Anyway, things I liked, things I didn't, but overall, really enjoyed it. There was some cheesy stuff and some obvious bones thrown in for fans, but overall, a good movie if you enjoy the more characted drama~esque Superhero type movie.

Went to see Wonder Woman last weekend and it was great! I have been a fan of Wonder Woman ever since Lynda Carter's portrayal of the amazon princess in 1975 and that has been the problem per say...Lynda Carter set the gold standard for Wonder Woman and there hasn't been another to pick up the mantle...until now.

Although Gal Gadot is not Lynda Carter in appearance nor demeanor, she breathes new life into the character. She is to Wonder Woman today what Daniel Craig is to James Bond compared to the others that portrayed him; what Christian Bale is to Bruce Wayne/Batman compared to others that portrayed him.

Although Marvel has dominated the superhero films for the last decade (although I still can't believe they're reaching into the well again on yet another Spiderman film), I'm really looking forward to future films with the amazon princess!

John Wick 2... beginning was nonsense and the story was a bit meh until the end. But then we watch it for the retribution and the violence, which was in abundance... #3 is already in the works.

John McClain has a rival for sustaining the most abuse and still kicking ***. Wick takes a ton of punishment. Hated the weird looking mute bodyguard/assassin girl, and "Cassian", who looked stiff and fake during the fight choreography.

Reuniting the Matrix guys was a bit meh as well, but enjoy the alternative world and the fighting and violence is fun to watch. Lost count of how many times he reloads his guns and how many clips he carries on his person at one time...

Saw Descipable Me 3 with my family, and it was pretty good. Both kid friendly and funny enough to keep everyone entertained the whole way through. If you liked the first two and Minions, you should like this one too. However, like with the Shrek and Kung Fu Panda franchises, the second one is definately the best. This was a step back from the last one as far as the story and the jokes. I will say though, that even though they use a cartoonish style of animating people, the quality of the work really stood out with things like lighting, nature effects, glass ect. The world around the characters was first rate live action movie CGI quality.

Utterly fantastic! Could've been made into a 10 hour Netflix or HBO miniseries that you binge watch over two consecutive nights it was that enjoyable. Has the feel, cleverness, and production value of House of Cards or The Newsroom.

Yesterday I watched an early screening to the movie Atomic Blonde.

Visually, the movie is very good. A lot of interesting shots, the action is top notch and brutal and was visually stimulating. Plus boobs.

The movie is very enjoyable if you want to see some awesome fights and a decent spy filler that, IMO, thinks it is more clever but comes off more confusing.

I want to see the movie eventually regardless, but for those of us who are big MCU fans, but not huge Spider-Man fans, is there a lot of stuff relating to the bigger universe of movies, or is it more self contained?

The movie is soaked in the MCU from beginning to end. With the best MCU ending stinger. I do not want to spoil it, however, if you are a fan of the MCU the ending stinger is worth the price of admission alone.

Yeah, only the Avengers movies and Captain America 2&3 are more steeped in MCU than Spider Man.

This movie is GREAT! Basically, IMO, it is a flawless movie. The best iteration of Spider Man in the movies or TV or animation.

IMO, it is the first time that the Spider-Man I read in comic book form was in a movie. Sam Rami's movies were great, however, they were an interpretation, and the less we can say about Webb's Spider-Man the better.

Saw Spider-Man... what a waste of time and money that was. He was a whiney, annoying punk who couldn't do anything on him own. /sighs

Nah, I'm just screwing with Dupree and Tony. It was the best Spiderman yet. Don't even waste time with any of the previous movies. lol...

Pretty funny. Enjoyed the part where he was locked into the underground bunker for what felt like an eternity and the suit tells him it's only been 37 mins.

Was annoyed that they had a couple of HS kids in Peter and Ned being able to hack into the software of the suit and "over ride" the training wheels protocol. It was just dumb and given all the stuff built into the suit, it would have notified Stark of the hacking attempt... other than a few small things like this in the movie, it was pretty great.

Nah... As Ivan Venko said to Hammer, "Software is sh17". This was some BS from the writers, who always fk up programming and coding in movies. Remember Jackman hacking while being knobbed with a gun to his head?" Everything is hacked in seconds... right. It's just dumb.

And even if, Stark would've still have put a tripwire in the suit to notify him (via Happy) it was being tampered with and for the suit to defend itself. That would have even been more fun IMO.

I've worked with coders most of my career. No one as arrogant as Stark is going to write something simple enough for a 2nd, or in Ned's case, a 3rd fiddle, would be able to hack into without first fkn with them then allowing it after having it send an alert, or simply locking them out.

*Sorry Losers. Training Wheels Stay On!" ~Karen's voice.

You have never worked with movie coders. Obviously, Ned Leeds, hacked the mainframe in a way that made sure he was unable to tell it was turned on.
