You have a top 3 Offense, but ranked 22nd on Defense...but you want Offensive Upgrades?

You have no choice vs that team..you simply have to outscore them. Love is an average defender at best, Tristan imo will never be as good as he was. Too complacent, too rich, too caught up with his new *****.

Warriors have had the #1, the #2 and the #1 ranked defense the last 3 years. The Cavs have not had offensive issues vs. them. Their issues are on the defensive end.

The Cavs were within 5 pts. in the 3rd quarter and gave up 4.... FOUR!!!!! flex back cut layups/dunks at that point. That is piss poor D. Gotta get 3 and D guys.

    Not even...

As far as the Knicks, we have time to build. Obviously while LeBron and Kyrie are in Cleveland you are playing for 2nd place in the East.

Drafting Dennis Smith Jr would be a great start.

Korver and Bogut were both major flops. I think Lebron had Mike Miller in mind when he thought of tradingfor Korver but lol dont even compare... miller >>>>>>>>> korver... just look at Mike's finals contributions compared to korver. It aint even close

They wouldn't be drafting him, it would be a FA signing.

I'm interested why you don't think Collins would fit in a space-oriented offense. He did a lot of damage around the basket, but he can shoot. He's not Markenen, but I don't think he has to be to fit as a 4. The sample size was very small, but Collins shot 48% from 3 last year, and he has real potential as a shooter. Watch this Draft Express strengths video from the 4:15 mark.

TJ Leaf is another guy I like a lot that is a damn near ideal fit for Miami's offense. There's a lot of work to be done defensively, but I think people are sleeping on him a little bit and underestimating his athleticism because he's white.

I agree with you about Anunoby. On one hand you say, you have something similar in Winslow and would prefer a guy with a more polished offensive game, and on the other hand you could look at it as doubling down and betting that one of the two develops an offensive game, which would probably turn either into a star.

I LOVE Donovan Mitchell. He's short, but there is just so much to like and he has a great wingspan and leaping ability, so I think that negates the lack of size. And if Pitino is right that he's a PG in the NBA, then size is no longer an issue at all. I see a D-Wade-lite college player in Mitchell. He isn't a need, but he's a guy I want on my team.

The approach Miami takes will be interesting. Do they play it safe and take a guy that should probably turn into a solid role player like Jackson or Kennard, or do they go with upside in someone like Anunoby, Harry Giles, John Collins, Jarrett Allen, or Justin Patton. TJ Leaf and Mitchell might be a little bit of both. Ideally, someone unexpected falls like a Markenen, Zach Collins, or maybe Ntilikina and the decision is easy. The good news is, this draft is loaded, and there will be multiple options for Miami to get better.

Bosh's contract is officially off soon and we are open for business

Me either, but I hope the return is good if they do trade it. The thing that makes it more difficult is I doubt Miami wants to take on more money, so it would essentially have to be a guy on a rookie deal. That, or part of a bigger deal.

Eww Smith is the last guy I want for NYK. He is Derrick Rose post knee injury only he also openly quit on his team on a couple of occasions. He's selfish, ball dominant, and overrated. Luckily I don't think Phil will take a ball dominant PG who isn't very good.

Mitchell is short (6'2 and change) in stature only. He's got a wingspan that makes him more like 6'6" or so. I agree, I like him. If my top 7 are gone, I'd happily take him at 8 knowing he's going to play D and attack opposing PG's. I'd flat out take him over guys like Dennis Smith who I see as overrated and selfish or Lonzo Ball who I see as lazy and more interested in branding then basketball plus you have to deal with his idiot pops.

Pretty sure Leaf is another Kevin Love type, maybe not quite as good. Could do worse at 14 though.

Anunoby could be a problem if he learns to play offensively. You could always interchange Anunoby and Winslow at the 2 and 3 depending on match ups knowing your wings can defend well. Gonna have to find more offense at the 4 though in that scenario. Or trade Winslow.

I'm not sold on Collins as a shooter either, at least not immediately. He fits better next to a Marc Gasol type right now then Whiteside.

    Well, that's all over.

Honestly, I more or less gave up on it once the Warriors started to steam roll the Cavs.

It was gutting to see Kawhi go down in the first game of the Spurs-Warriors series after such a great start, so that took a lot of my enthusiasm, but honestly, as balanced as I try to keep my outlook and as fairly and openly I try to look at other teams, this year's Warriors just felt like a 'cheat code'. I know it's been said over and over again, and I don't have anything major to add, but something about a championship-contending team then getting a transfer of one of the best players in the league at a max contract just seems wrong. It seems like just the sort of thing the cap exists to prevent; the pay-to-win scenario that happens in the English Premier League etc.

I get that no rules were broken. I get that you could argue that Curry is the only other really good player on that team (and perhaps Draymond, but I don't rate Klay that highly). At the end of the day, though, you had a really, really good team, who had only just come off an historic 73-win season, getting arguably the 2nd best player in the league. It just felt like it cheated the system.

It also feels like it diminishes the Warriors' achievement; because the team that lost last year wasn't the team that won this year. They didn't work harder, they didn't overcome the challenge, they just added a hugely talent all-star. In the same way it feels like it diminishes Durant's achievement, because seriously, he got to play on a team where he didn't have to worry about anything.

And then he got the Finals MVP.

    Really?

I know it gets given to the best player on the winning team but that award should have gone to Lebron. He was clearly the most valuable, most talented, best performing player in that series. His performance was incredible. There was a stat showing that when Lebron was on the floor the Cavs outscored the Warriors by about 6 but when off the floor the Warriors went up by about 24! Sure there are criticisms of Lebron, just like any other players, but does anyone seriously think Durant contributed more to the Warriors than Lebron did to the Cavs? If so, how about this, swap them. Put Lebron on the Warriors and Durant on the Cavs - what do you think happens? There's your MVP question settled.

At the end of it all, the season is over, except the overly delayed awards ceremony...

The big question I'm pondering now is whether this move by the Warriors to get Durant, and the talk of Durant playing for a discount to keep the team together, is going to cause a change in the league where max-players (and all players) starting thinking in terms of team cap and getting paid less in order to help build a better, more talented team. Maybe that would be a bright-side to all this. Then again, if more of the most talented players start congregating in only a few teams, that might end up leading to a top heavy league with a few contenders and the rest lagging behind. I hope not.

Woj is reporting that LeBron could be headed to one of the LA teams, or maybe even Miami again in 2018. I don't buy it, and it seems like we hear these rumors every year because LeBron (or maybe his team) like playing these games, but it's Woj so it's worth mentioning. I don't understand him going to the West, and particularly an LA team unless he's just done chasing rings. I also think it would somewhat hurt his image to play for a 3rd team, but I guess there are tons of marketing opportunities in LA.

Honestly with the **** GS pulled adding KD to a 73-9 team, Lebron should take the vet min or MLE to stack a team. The guy makes more money outside of his nba salary anyway.

That would be the way to take down golden state.

Haha! ZERO chance he goes back to Miami. Why the hell would he do that?

As far as LA, I certainly could see it. His son is going to be playing high school ball soon, and why put the pressure of going to Akron St Vincent St Mary on him.

He recognizes the obscene pressure that was put on him from that region even before he was drafted there. It would be THAT much worse for his son to try and follow in those shoes. So I not only think it's quite possible he ends up in LA, I think he should. He has broken the curse, he delivered on his promise and may very well again.

But how about JR actively recruiting Melo? Hey Phil? How bouts a buyout?

I never understood why the hell you would buy out a good productive player. An injury plagued player (like Stoudemire) comes to mind as ok but Anthony? **** no. That has to be a Windbag rumor. Id be asking for a lottery pick as a return and whether that comes from the cavs, clippers or elsewhere i dont care.

First of all, I don't see him leaving at all. But if he's leaving and still wants to win, going to Miami makes sense. He'd still be top dog in the East, and who better than Riley to put another great team together? It would also keep his team list to two which looks better than three on the resume. From a basketball and legacy POV, I think it makes a ton more sense than going to LA. Again, though, I think he stays in Cleveland for the rest of his career unless things go bad there somehow.

I'd bet my house n cars vs a steak dinner he will never play for Riley again. Hell, he still doesn't like Gilbert. But Cle=home=legacy

Eh, I think they are getting over it. Riley talked about regretting his reaction and agreeing it was the right decision for LeBron in that big article in ESPN Mag. That doesn't mean he's coming (again, I firmly believe he's never leaving Cleveland), but I don't know that the animosity is there anymore.

Right. These rumors are for 2018.

You think he's cool with getting beat up by the warriors each year and ending his career with 3 rings because he loves Ohio? He even said he wouldn't have left Miami if we won in 2014. I think a big part of him leaving was thinking he would have a better team in Cleveland than what Miami was.

He could always recruit FAs to Cleveland and retool, but he may run into the same issue he used to have...bringing FAs to Cleveland.

I wouldn't be surprised if he left next year if they get steamrolled again.

I like Zach Collins but again, I don't see him as a fit on the court with Hassan Whiteside, more as Whiteside's backup. He moves and plays like a center, and I don't see him as a nice fit for Miami defensively when Whiteside is on the court. He may be able to do some things offensively with Whiteside on court, but not necessarily the things Miami values.

The more I look at the possibilities for Miami at 14 the more I can see why they seem to be thinking about punting the pick in pursuit of a veteran.

There are some guys to like, some guys you can learn to like. But many of these guys are deeply flawed and/or physically under-developed.

If the Heat don't trade the pick, I would probably wait and see if either Lauri Markannen or OG Anunoby are there at 14, and if not then take the most unique big left on the board. That would probably be Zach Collins if he's there.

I like that the spelling of his name makes me want to pronounce it "Oh, hell yeah!"

You're right though. I hadn't seen him. He really hits a number of erogenous zones, as Section would say. He's got an NBA body and tons of pure strength, really good hands, can get above the rim and make some athletic plays when he's able to gather from two feet, and I'm really intrigued that he's got such a good shot. If he were a lot better of a rebounder then he'd be really interesting, or if he right/left versatility driving to the basket.
