For believing in God. That was the last straw for me. My name was Game Day over there. Do you all want me here? I've read your stuff about my beloved Miami Dolphins for a long time, but due to daily traffic I thought finheaven was better. Boy was I wrong. they censor you if they disagree with anything that contrasts to their overwhelmingly liberal beliefs. I was in the religion forum even for crying out loud. A little loser named nick1 or something like that controlled what I posted in a religion forum the only time I ever posted there. I am a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan that is looking for a home. Do you all want me here? P.S. my name "Redemption" is made intentionally,so I can for the rest of my life, criticize, belittle, demean, demoralize, and just flat out hate that morally bankrupt loser website. Do you want me here or not?
Welcome Redemption. A lot of us were in FH at one time as this site split from there a decade ago. Long story. You'll notice we have a religion forum (and a site chaplain) but no political forum and as such we don't post about politics due to the divisive nature. As for your beef with FH, you're not the first person we have heard that from but we try and focus on what is really important here....the Miami Dolphins, girls, and booze . We do not however believe it is a good idea to belittle or diminish other posters, even ones from other sites. One thing to keep in mind with regards to daily traffic, quality is more important then quantity.
Welcome aboard! I am the site chaplain Boik mentioned but we have a couple of other pastors here as well. As far as I'm concerned you are as welcome as anyone. Boik is correct regarding both quality and political views. Last year's election brought out the worst in a lot of folks and we shut the POFO down. The animosity was bleeding over on the rest of the site. There has not been a lot of action on the Religion forum recently. Never had "lots". The religious tenor here is most agnostic/atheist but respectful. The actively faithful are mostly orthodox mainstream Protestant/Roman Catholic folks. I'm a Lutheran pastor, we have a United Methodist pastor and a couple very active Roman Catholic lay folk who will respond favorably to prayer requests, etc. As with most sports sites, active proselytizing does not go over well. Welcome on board. I don't spend a lot of time in the mains but if you ever want to talk, send me a private message.
You have to let that stuff go, my friend. Christians used to be burned at the stake for sharing their views...you got banned from a lousy forum. It's not worth carrying all that hate and anger over not being accepted- just let it go and focus on your faith. I don't know what religion you are but I can almost guarantee that the teachings say not to carry grudges. So forgive and forget...and talk about some Dolphins football instead.
Welcome aboard man. I was on FH for over a decade. This has been a good forum that is tolerant as long as you don't go too far. I've tested their patience but I think I'm still welcome lol. I like it here.
Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour. We are what He wants us to be. This is the article in question from our resident Genius: http://blog.godreports.com/2016/06/...eory-suggests-were-all-living-in-gods-matrix/ Theoretical physicist, futurist, and bestselling author Michio Kaku has developed a theory that points to the existence of God using string theory. String theory assumes that seemingly specific material particles are actually “vibrational states.” His view about intelligent design has riled the scientific community because Dr. Kaku is considered one of its most respected and prominent voices. He is the co-creator of string field theory, a branch of string theory. “I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence,” he stated, according to the Geophilosophical Association of Anthropological and Cultural Studies. Dr. Kaku has continued Einstein’s search for a “Theory of Everything,” seeking to unify the four fundamental forces of the universe—the strong force, the weak force, gravity and electromagnetism. The very purpose of physics, says Kaku is “to find an equation … which will allow us to unify all the forces of nature and allow us to read the mind of God.” Because string theory may provide a unified description of gravity and particle physics, it is considered a candidate for a Theory of Everything. To reach his conclusions about intelligence behind the universe, Dr. Kaku made use of what he calls “primitive semi-radius tachyons.” A tachyon is a particle that always moves faster than light. Many physicists believe such particles cannot exist because they are not consistent with the known laws of physics. As noted by Einstein and others, special relativity implies that faster-than-light particles, if they existed, could be used to communicate backwards in time. Dr. Kaku used a technology created in 2005 that allowed him to analyze the behavior of matter at the subatomic scale, relying on a primitive tachyon semi-radius. When he observed the behavior of these tachyons in several experiments, he concluded that humans live in a “matrix,” a world governed by laws and principles conceived by an intelligent architect. “I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence, not unlike a favorite computer game, but of course, more complex and unthinkable,” he said. “By analyzing the behavior of matter at the subatomic scale affected by the semi tachyon pitch radius, what we call chance no longer makes sense, because we are in a universe governed by established rules and not determined by universal chances plane. “This means that, in all probability, there is an unknown force that governs everything,” he noted. However, the unknown force – the first cause that set everything into being and holds everything together is actually a person, Jesus Christ, Christians believe by faith. In Dr. Kaku’s understanding, the Universe is possibly a symphony of vibrating strings emanating from the mind of God, with His cosmic music resonating through an 11-dimensional hyperspace. The Japanese-American physicist states “physicists are the only scientists who can say the word ‘God’ and not blush.” “To me it is clear that we exist in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance.” Read the rest here: http://blog.godreports.com/2016/06/...eory-suggests-were-all-living-in-gods-matrix/ God is REAL. You are Welcome.
welcome. remember you well. got banned much, much earlier. became one of the first to join this site & have never looked back. posted as Rio in the day...
You do know that's most likely a falsified article right? There's no actual credible source pointing to him having said any of that in relation to a God.
That cuts both ways though. No side of the theological spectrum is without fault. The Christians had their Crusades a few hundred years ago, and they used to burn suspected witches at the stake, or hang them, depending on the location.
"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable , but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this. For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions". - Albert Einstein , letter to Eric Gutkind, Jan 3 , 1954
As a Christian, I can't agree that God is dead and as far as freedom; we have had free choice all along.
This thread is hysterical to me. "Redemption" comes here, makes his initial post, gets welcomed by a number of folks, has his topic debated regularly for three months now, and has never made a single post beyond the original. The debate continues, sort of, and yet the original poster is gone! The internet is a weird place!
There are right now 777 threads here in this forum, and 666 pages of Miami Dolphins threads. Something's gotta give.
Lol and I wonder why he was sent packing from the "other site"? I don't come over here much since I am busy on the "other site" but without disclosing too much he wasn't banned for believing in God.
If you notice, he posted his initial post here, it was edited for content, and he has never come back. Thus your "revelation" is not entirely surprising.
I am a cast off of FH as well. While you are correct there is a small group that will attempt to silence you if you disagree. They do give plenty of warnings, and the "main guys" are pretty fair. I had lots of good times at FH, and was banned as well. However, I was warned many times before being banned. It was in retaliation to someone who is also banned. But, its their site, they told me not to respond to a certain member as I was out of strikes. Long story short I deserved it. So "Redemption" I agree there sometimes are not the same rules for everyone, but I highly doubt you were banned for believing in God. I made some friends over there and enjoyed the banter, and discussing the Dolphins. I figured I would give it a shot over here. I kept the same name in case any guys on FH who I had interactions with are over here and wanna bust my balls.
Hello Slk, Welcome to this site. If you read the time stamps you will see the thread you posted on is over a year old and abandoned. It is irrelevant today. That said, you are welcome here but we do enforce a code which says "attack the post if you must, but never the poster' The mods here are fair and there is lots of good Dolphin information and discussion. Welcome.
When it came to burning at the stake, I know about the so called Christians burning suspected witches at the stake. Who was it that burned Christians? Regardless of whom it was, seems like throughout history, Christians dished it out at least as much as they received it.
"I believe in one God, and no more; and I hope for happiness beyond this life. I believe in the equality of man; and I believe that religious duties consist in doing justice, loving mercy, and endeavouring to make our fellow-creatures happy. But, lest it should be supposed that I believe many other things in addition to these, I shall, in the progress of this work, declare the things I do not believe, and my reasons for not believing them. I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish Church, by the Roman Church, by the Greek Church, by the Turkish Church, by the Protestant Church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church. All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit. I do not mean by this declaration to condemn those who believe otherwise; they have the same right to their belief as I have to mine. But it is necessary to the happiness of man that he be mentally faithful to himself. Infidelity does not consist in believing, or in disbelieving; it consists in professing to believe what he does not believe." ~ Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason...And I, MrClean, wholeheartedly concur with Thomas Paine.
Its taken you 14 months to respond???? Who has persecuted Christians? Romans, Persians, Moslems, Turks, natives of most of south Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, Native Americans, Japanese, Chinese, and others too numerous to mention. Burning alive, flaying alive, crucifixion, etc. are all well documented. Who have Christians persecuted? At times, most or all of the above. Sometimes using the same methods as applied to them. Sometimes it was a quid pro quo, other times it was action and response, at all times it was tragic and unnecessary. I am not a big proponent of claiming a victim mentality. Historically that has allowed groups to prey on others when we should be praying for and with others. "Redemption"'s claim was not widely accepted as "gospel" (pun intended) and as you have likely seen the majority of us on this site who actively practice and profess our Christian faith are a fairly tolerant, understanding group. In fact my most fervent prayer in recent years has often been, "Please God, save me from the people who claim to be on my side!"
I don't generally check these introduce yourself threads. For some reason, I did today. I kind of like the quote attributed to Gandhi. "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ." The so called evangelicals are the worst. The words Evangelical Christian comprise an oxymoron IMO. Churches like yours and the United Methodists seem much more sensible and tolerant from what I can tell.
It is the use of the word "Evangelical" that is one of my pet peeves. In the 16th century, my ancestors in the reformation were sneered at by the existing catholics as "evangelicals" which was literally, "Gospel people". Its kind of like the way the phrase "Bible thumpers" gets used today as a put down. In fact in Germany today the phrase Evangelical is synonymous with what we here call "Lutheran". That our name has been co-opted with so little regard for the Biblical faith by folks who enforce a 21st century legalism, angers me. I am as passionate about the Christian faith as anyone. But I reject utterly the way it is understood by many who claim its name.
There is nothing at all Christian or Christ like with how many in this country want to treat foreigners, and immigrants, whether they are "legal" or not. I submit no one is illegal or everyone other than the indigenous peoples are illegal. This is all stolen land, whether directly stolen or purchased from others who stole it. None in our history, when it comes to immigrants, were treated any worse than the Irish when they first started coming here. Yet, we see some of obvious Irish descent who seem to have no thought of what their ancestors went through with the way they treat immigrants these days.
I'll skip your question since it's already been answered, and add that more people have been murdered "in the name of God" than any other reason throughout our history. Those wars are still raging in the Middle East to this day. As far as the other comments, there are very few Christian morals left in the world today. We worship smartphones and technology. The media focuses on anger and hatred...and we quickly jump on the bandwagon without all the facts (like you just did with illegal aliens). TV is filled with hate, violence, murder and sex. Reality stars and YouTubers are somehow seen as role models by our youth. With 24/7 entertainment, there's just not enough time left over for God in the 21st century.
Some of us still make the time! BTW, your comment about killings "in the name of God" is also common hyperbole. Economics, control of goods, occupation of lands and the like, many would argue, are the real basis for conflict and war. Religion or faith is simply an excuse for an economic decision we have already made.
Fellas fellas fellas... Dont we have enough people complain about things that happened hundreds of years ago that no one living ever took part in!? We must all live in the NOW!!
My answer to the modernist Fin-O is to quote Hegel, "He who does not study history is condemned to repeat it!" Besides, this is the most civil, intelligent conversation of faith issues I have had in a long while. Clean and Key are good people, as are you, who care about the world and the people in it. So do I. It is fun for me to struggle with others how best to do that. American society today doesn't offer much opportunity for good debate, I grab it where I can!
This a topic that's very near to my heart...but it's not appropriate for this forum/site. People do all kinds of things "in the name of God" and claim it as a Godly action, but that doesn't make it true. Here's an example- the OP claiming to be a devout Christian while plotting detailed revenge for someone insulting him on a former Dolphins forum. In the modern world we focus on SO MANY THINGS that don't matter because that's what society tells us to do. Sin is basically the new normal these days and this just isn't a Godly world. Again, I'd love to go into details but it would probably end with someone getting banned. So I'm out of this conversation. =)
There is a religion forum: https://thephins.com/forums/religion-and-spirituality.49/ Just keep it to religion without politics.
