CEO Tom Garfinkel said Wednesday that the Miami Dolphins will wear their all-white color rush uniforms for the Oct. 26 game at Baltimore, and will wear their 1966 throwback uniforms twice this season.

I actually like the coral jerseys and white pants for the alternate uniform. I remember the first time they wore them against New England on a Monday night game....and we won!!!!

Those old school uni's sure looked sweet last year!

On a side note, I was hoping that, league wide, we would be spared the horrible color rush uniforms fiasco from last year.
Most of the matchup's were bad enough last year on Thursday Night Football but when you threw in those awful Color Rush uniforms
    it became completely unwatchable.

    Oh yeah, that's gotta go!

I ALWAYS love the old school, ORIGINAL aqua and coral colors. Seems to me we play our best in our original uniforms!

And a side note to your side note...we had better never...EVER wear all aqua or all orange EVER again. Those uniforms sucked to the highest level of sucktivity!!!

I like the newer uniform, but I was also holding out hope that when the new ones were revealed a couple years ago there was some kind of marriage between elements of the new ones and the throwbacks.

I despise the new logo, go back to the old uniforms with the orange jerseys as well, the new colors and logo look like a cfl team!!!!

no other logo in the league looks like an anime character drawing.

I like the newer uniform 10 times from what it evolved to the year before, the uni that were in the Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas era were terrible, the colors were like green and sh@@, they sucked, so in that regard, the new uni is great, but those throwbacks are the best, hopefully we can marriage the two like you said.

2-1. Beat the Bills and 49ers in them last year. Lost to the Giants in 2015.

I'd almost bet money that one of the throwback games this season is the Oakland game. Old school rivalry in prime time.

Seriously. The only change they'd have to do is make the throwback uniforms the same color aqua as the new new uniforms. I don't know if the new logo and the throwback would synergize, but I don't think our new logo is fundamentally different than the current Buffalo Bills logo. I do know that their old school jerseys work well with their logo and look wonderful.

I like the way the new logo looks on the helmet when angled downwards. Like the dolphin is ready to punch through something.

I'm pretty sure each team typically has a home and away color rush uniform. Our "home", we saw last year; the all orange. The all white is what we have for the road, or the event of similar colors as opponent. Technically we have the all aqua look too, I don't remember seeing it recently though. Maybe two seasons ago now?

Hmm.. I don't like that link. It's like it's written by someone who studied design but not vision science.

In vision science color is a perception, meaning both white and black are colors. How perceptions relate to the physical world, in this case mixtures of light, is specified by something called a chromaticity diagram, the most widely used being the CIE diagram:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIE_1931_color_space#/media/File:CIE1931xy_blank.svg

Pick any two points on the boundary of that diagram, which represent different wavelengths of light, draw a line between them and that tells you how mixtures of those two wavelengths (something physical) correspond to the perception of a color (something psychological). That diagram was created through tons of experiments on color matching (how different mixtures of light are perceived).

So TV's etc.. will use 3 points called primaries. The key requirement is that not all 3 points lie on a line (otherwise they're not primaries). The colors within the triangle of those 3 primaries are the sensations you can create by mixing those three colors to different degrees. It becomes complicated but once you allow negative additions (so subtractions of wavelengths) you can get the entire color space (technically this is done by choosing fictional primaries.. but that's another story).

In any case, add luminance (intensity of light) to the CIE diagram and you get ALL colors. CIE doesn't have shades of gray or black, but if you add luminance (a third dimension) then you get all shades of gray including black. That 3rd dimension makes the whole thing look like a cone because black lies at a single point - there are no "shades" of black.

Never a dull moment with you around.

[edit] Doesn't that suggest that black is the absence of color?

Black is the perception of the absence of light (something physical). Only way you can truly experience absence of color is to not experience visual sensations at all, so it's how you experience what you can't see (like behind your head).. that is, there's simply no visual sensation.

btw.. keep in mind that even in vision science they make a distinction between "color vision" and "night vision". That's because the physiological basis for color vision is separate from that of night vision, but the meaning of "color" as a visual sensation is still properly used even with that distinction.

Wait. So.... Wait. No..Um...was I right or wrong on white not being a color? So complete this sentence for me. White __ a color. So insert an is or isn't. Or, if you'd like you could insert a term like Orangutang, stove pipe or inchworm clitoris but that would not answer the question. It would however be worlds more interesting than this entire thread on uniforms.

lol.. yeah white is a color. So is black. There is actually something called the "white point" in that CIE diagram, and it's right in the middle of it. It's how they use mixtures of wavelengths of light to create the sensation of white in TV's, etc..

Yeah let's not confuse certain things here. The idea that white and black are colors because they are distinguishable perceptions of different mixtures of wavelengths of light is essentially a definition within vision science. So for the question of whether white or black are colors the CIE diagram isn't necessary.

I pointed out the CIE diagram in response to the link from smahtaz where it looks like they don't quite understand how different mixtures of light are related to color perception.

What you're referring to is that at a molecular level mixtures of pigment are amorphous and you don't have wavelengths reflected from red pigment completely separate but right next to wavelengths reflected from blue pigment. Instead the pigment mixture acts like it's reflecting only those wavelengths reflected by both. And of course when that happens you're not adding wavelengths of light like in the CIE diagram but essentially subtracting them. So from that point of view you're right, but that's a separate story from whether white and black are colors.

I'm not disputing anything you're saying, it's all true, but this was about white and black on uni's, which would fall under pigment.

The white textiles are actually processed to remove all color as there are usually some spots here and there after the fabric is made, most material is white when it's made and then died to add color, or bleached to completely remove color.

Many fabrics are actually constructed with "dye sites" in them, small cavities for the dye to get into, mostly the "plastic" type textiles, as they aren't very porous.

SO you're saying that Orange on the footer of this site is Coral? I grew up in Bermuda. I know what color Coral is. Orange is orange not coral. Saying coral is our color is...um...how to...hmmm let's go with effeminate. This is football. Our color is not an...effeminate one. So I challenge you to third grade recess rules. Take that back! :crapstrom:
