I'm curious how a coach (our head coach in particular) sees it. Would he rather have a guy who gets 100 or close to it every week or a 4 games over 200 and a bunch of games at 50-60? Anyone know? I would guess the former, but I'm not sure. Supposedly Bill Walsh preferred to draft an inconsistent performer with flashes of brilliance over a guy who performed steadily at a high level without brilliance. Walsh thought he could coach the inconsistent athlete up to be brilliant all the time.

Re this latest derailment, speaking as someone who doesn't post a lot it's depressing as hell. I don't play fantasy, so I was learning a lot from the first few posts, then bang! off we go into the wasteland. I waded through a couple of pages of back-and-forth, hoping the thread would get back on topic, then in desperation I clicked to the end -- still arguing. I can't be the only casual poster who gets discouraged by this.

You're right. lets get back to football. I'm hoping to see Ajayi improve this year. Last year he seemed to do great one week then fall flat the following week (obviously not the second in a row week on the b2b 200 yd games). I think he'll flourish coming into the year having earned the starter spot and being one of the main cogs in the offense.

think of why we can run the ball better, consistently this year? We have better guards this year and the team is prepared to play w/o Mike. In addition, we have a true TE with JT and a good blocking one with Fasano

No. Look at the time I said I'm done an hour or so ago. Haven't said a cross word since. Not that I need to prove this to you but it's true. Even welcomed a new member and voiced my sadness at Wharfrat's passing. However, you can feel free to pound sand if you disagree as I am clearly trying to put out the effort but don't need to be called out for it. Follow your own advice and talk some football friend. I'm keeping the peace here but that doesn't mean I sold my spine on E-Bay.

It's a happy day for Boik (we fired Phil) Let's all agree to squash it all right here right now and TRY to disagree without venom.

Just remember, at the end of the day? We are all on the same team here.

Tunsil moved to LT, but I don't see his replacement as an improvement.
The last couple of years G play has depended heavily on Pouncey's health, which is still a huge question mark as of now.

So I can't agree that G play will be better this year than last year. Maybe it will turn out that way, but right now I feel that is wishful thinking. What I do think is that without the unholy trio of Turner, Thomas, and Douglas our backup Gs are much better than this time last year, but our starting Gs, I'm not so sure.

I've tried about 15 times to make peace with you- you just love the chaos of a senseless argument though. All you have to say is something like, "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding....can we just drop this and call a truce?" Then you'd be the bigger person and I would be defending you.

As I mentioned earlier though, I just had a great friend become a paraplegic in a freak accident. I only have so much fight in me this week...life's too darn short to do this every day over nothing.

But you also are showing your true colors by not taking them to task for their behavior....as i suspected.

I honestly just stopped reading when they were getting childish towards you. And yes, I did hit the "report" button a few times in their direction. I'm just so tired of the fights and the bickering...it was never about you personally at all. I'm not on anybody's "side".

I'd just love for it all to end and talk about football.

I too would love to talk football. I would also like there to be some accountability. Arguments can always get heated, but people shouldn't be attacked for being courteous....which is precisely what landry and ricky did. They should be taken to task.

I'm hoping Asiata makes a big push, I like his game, but I do think he's probably more suited to RG, but I do think he ends up starting for us at some point, I'm just hoping it's sooner rather than later.

I am in a fantasy league with friends from high school that we started when I was in 10th grade, and I am 30 now...so we have kept it going a long time. It has kind of evolved over the years and we have a keeper system and people do a lot of trades for picks....keeps it interesting.

Anyway, Ajayi got dropped last year and I picked him up off waivers right before the first 200 yard game. The way it worked out, I get to keep him as a 15th round pick this year...pretty cool.

The argument from the others in the league is he is inconsistent. Not the most scientific (so don't quote me) but I was sticking up for our guy being the Dolphins fan of the group: in 16 games McCoy had 7 100 yard games and 7 equal or under 70. In 12 games Gordon had 3 100 yard games (one at 194) and 7 games equal or under 70. Demarco, in 16 games had 5 100 yard games and 7 at equal or less than 70. Freeman in 16 games had 2 100 yard games and 9 at equal or less than 70. Jordan Howard in 15 games had 7 100 yard games, and only 4 equal or under 70 (and none came in the final 9 weeks). Guy was balling.

From the Steelers game on, Ajayi had 1 100 game and 3 200 yard games (beast)and 5 equal or under 70 (in those 11 games)....9 total if you count the early games. His big games were huge and he wasn't way out of line in terms of the "dud" games versus the other RB in tier 2.

Most of the other players were outpacing him in receiving though, which I believe will change this year based on what we have heard. I think Jay is a top 5 guy, and hope he can break into the ranks with the top tier group. Howard's numbers were really good but I worry about that offense this year. (I have two first round picks so I need another RB still). Can't wait for some practices to start and preseason!

The thing is, ajayi was probably cheap for everyone, so that's good. But his bad stretch of games was down the playoff run for Fantasy. That hurts if you were relying on him. McCoy for example, had one subpar running game from week 10 to 16 (most championships are in week 16) and even then, at least had a TD to salvage it a little.

Ajayi, had his inconsistencies but also didn't score a lot of TDs to help out those lean weeks. He had 1 td from week 10 - 15. Again, if you were in the championship despite it, and played Ajayi, he would have helped immensely.

Fact of the matter is, in this passing league, most RBs only average 70 ypg anyway. You only need like 65 per game to get 1000 yards over 16. But sprinkle in 10-12 TDs, and another 30 yards catching the ball, and you're cooking with peanut oil.

I fully expect Ajayi to have an increased role as a receiver. And that those receiving stats will even out his inconsistent fantasy scoring. I also expect that Gase will continue to use the run game regularly. Gase didn't use Ajayi consistently early on but from game 6 through the rest of the regular season Ajayi averaged 20.8 attempts/game. I'm also hoping that our play count increases. I think the biggest factor will be defensive improvement followed by offensive efficiency primarily on the early downs. If the offensive snaps increase then that will obviously help the fantasy numbers. I think there's a risk that Drake could vulture some carries/TDs but if the total snap count increases then that effect will be minimal in terms of Ajax's fantasy production.

Our 3rd down conversions were also bad even after the team started playing better. Early down efficiency will help that, but getting it done on 3D will help extend drives

You're right, but you have to let that go. A few rude initial posts have turned into hundreds more, just because nobody wants to admit they were childish and move on. I said a few hateful things- we all did. I trolled you because you were trolling others that were trolling others...that's definitely not a way to make this endless crap come to a stop.

We all just need to take a step back, accept that we will probably never be besties (like my teen daughter likes to say), and just start talking football again. Otherwise the trolling never stops.

Historically 3rd down conversions are largely dependent on distance. So doing better on early downs will help out 3rd downs tremendously.

It will. Ajayi's success rate was pretty bad last year. Yet we know he was great after contact. If we can get our run blocking to improve on first and second down, we should see a better offense up and down
