I keep hearing Suh and Landry talking about us not being the little brother and how we are coming for NE. I have been thinking about this a lot. And really , in my opinion, is not about a specific player or position with us. It is about being fundamental against them. Yes they have The GOAT at qb. But Miami will have to have the patience and attention to detail and do the little things to beat NE. It's converting a 3rd and short, the same way NE does, with their TE or back out of the backfield. It is having the strength to stop a 3rd and short and force a punt by blowing up a play from an edge rush or LB blitz. It is the qb scramble for 5 on 3rd and 4. These are all the fundamentals NE just slowly does against us, like pulling a knife slowly from your chest. It requires a sense of urgency on every drive. That game last year in NE, we blinked and it was like 24-0. NE starts the game with an 8 play drive and a TD, and we go three and out. Then they go 7 plays and we punt and then they go 12 plays and we punt. LOL. I mean if you want to beat someone and are confident, that crap won't happen again. After this, Miami's next three drives were a punt, fumble and an INT. Really? In those three drives and all those plays, NE only had 3 3rd down attempts and two of those were 3rd and 9 where Misi and Jenkins were matched up with the WR or RB. Yes it is that fundamental

Look I know the talent is there. But their mental game has to be sharp. Play calling has to be aggressive yet controlled. Take the ball first. Be creative on the first drive. Stay away from Landry, because that's obvious. Throw out of the backfield (a lot). Find the mismatches. Then maybe you have them on their heels, you can go over the top or use Landry to move the chains. On defense, they have to dis-allow the run game. We are healthier and more talented at LB. We brought in Hayes, and we have to set the edge better. Practice it. Own it.

We have a bye week before NE, and play them twice in three weeks. That is a lot of time to prep for those two games. We don't know how the season will shake out, but hopefully we are a game or so behind them. We will have a tough 3 game stretch into the BYE, @ Baltimore, Oakland and @Car. To me this is the season, those three games with NE and Denver the next three.

Agree with a lot of what you stated but the key to beating new England is to keep brady off the field. We still have to convert but we need longer drives. Slower methodically time eating drives and our defense can't allow 3-4 yard passes that turn into 12 yards.

Make brady beat you deep but stop the run and short passes. It also helps to pressure brady but he's a master of finding someone short or over the middle.

Our defense has to improve in order to beat them. Our offense is good enough to sustain drives if ajay is performing well.

I think we split with them this year. Win at home lose in New England.

I also feel we come in 2nd in AFC east but miss the playoffs due to wildcard.

The best way to beat. New England is to hope Father Time catches up to BRady.

If Miami can generate a running game and not have to throw early that will go a long way on offense but the defense has to get in Bradys face early and often to beat them IMO.

The "secret" to beating the Patriots, other than the stupidly obvious score more points than they do...

Offensively, we MUST do well on 1st down. We MUST get into 2nd and short and the keys to that are going to be the OL and Jay Ajayi. The OL has to dominate the line of scrimmage, pushing the defensive line 5 yards off the line of scrimmage and open holes for Ajayi. If our offense is forced into 3rd down 75% of the time, we're going to lose.

Defensively, getting pressure on Brady is futile. New England has too many short slant plays which allows Brady to get rid of the ball in under 2 seconds. We have to get pressure up the middle and our DBs have to jam NE's receivers at the line of scrimmage, negating NE's short passing game, force NE into 3rd and long and then give the defense the situation to get pressure on Brady.

Bottom line, beating NE means ball control. long sustained drives, a ground pounding game to eat up the clock and keep NE's offense on the sideline and forcing that offense into 3 and outs.

New England is NOT unbeatable but in order to beat them, we have to commit to this strategy, not abandon it and have the discipline and determination to carry it out.

I honestly would be ecstatic for a split.

I kinda had an epiphany. Maybe that instead of focusing in on NE (very difficult games), we should focus on sweeping the Bills and the Jets. Those are games that we really should win, and losing a game that you should win hurts a lot more than losing games that you are expected to be an underdog in. If we sweep the Bills and Jets, we realistically have to come up with six more wins. In all honesty, every other game is easier than the Patriots' game.

Your epiphany is is correct to a degree. With any team during every season, that team needs to win every game they're supposed to win...and a few of the games they aren't. For us, the Patriots are one of the games we aren't supposed to win, but are going to need to.

If you look at the preseason team rankings, then according to our schedule, the Dolphins should end the regular season at 9-7, losing to the Titans, Falcon, Raiders, Patriots twice, Denver and Kansas City. Those are the games we're SUPPOSED to lose.

So in order for us to have a winning season, we have to win all of the games we're supposed to, at least split with the Patriots, and win against the Titans, Raiders, and Broncos. Those three are home games (4 including one against NE).

It's not impossible (though improbable) for us to go 13-3 on the season, but we're going to have to stay disciplined, play with determination, stay healthy and...have Lady Luck on our side a few times.

To me, that means we need to circle that Titans' game with a Sharpie. Perhaps we all should be talking about that game because the way I see it, we should focus on getting to 10 wins and making the playoffs. I honestly do not see us as a 13 win team. I think that the 9-7 mark is quite realistic, honestly, and that is where I see our team. The thing is, if we can turn a 9-7 team into a 10-6 team, the difference is much more than one win. We are a playoff team, and once you get into the post season, you've got a chance.

    So let's beat those Titans!

In the AFC, if you're not a 10 win team, you're watching the playoffs at home instead of playing in them.

I don't really know how we can say we are a 9,10,11 win team after 4 days of camp. We finished the year 9-2, without Jones, Tannehill, Pouncey and a bunch of others.

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE and here's why- dominant teams don't look at the schedule and say, "Well, we will win these easy ones, but forget about at NE, Denver and games like that." The goal is to win 20 games and a Super Bowl- that's the only way to prepare and it's what Gase drills into people's minds on a daily basis.

For that reason, the only game that matters is the Buccaneers. Circle that on your calendar. Memorize it. It's the only thing that matters for the season. Win game #1. Go 1-0. Then worry about week 2 since the Chargers become the only thing that matters.

Do what we did last year and be able to stop the run, BANG that would have been one win right there. Now do that AND keep T-Hill healthy and that could have been #2. What I hate about the Pats is the dink and dunk ability to always convert third down. Someone is always open and they just wear you down.

isn't it ironic that their dink and dunk WRs are so valuable and here we are debating Jarvis' value when he is the exact thing NE does but better

Edelman just signed a 2 year extension for 11 mil total, 7 mil guaranteed, JL want's more than that per year.

I think JL is a better version of JE, but still the JE "version", they are extremely similar WR's, if the "clue" on Family Feud was "slot WR", the top 2 answers on the board would be JL and JE, lol, they are the epitome of the slot WR position.

If we were to weigh JL vs ODB, the scale is unbalanced, in fact, JL would barely move the scale because ODB's value to his team is so much heavier.

    G
GS Tgt Rec Yds Y/R TD Lng R/G Y/G
    43 42 457 288 4122 14.3 35 87, 6.7, 95.9
    48 41 409 288 3051 10.6 13 71, 6.0, 63.6

Similar in rec, and rpg, but in production there's a massive difference, the difference in yds is an entire season for Landry, the TDs is 22, AB over the last 3 years, 371 rec , 4861yds and 35 TDs.

As much as I love Juice, and his game, if he wants money like these guys, produce like these guys, his impact to the team is way less than these guys and his salary should be reflecting that, he shouldn't be making money close to these guys until he can produce close to them, I mean it just makes sense, no?
