Got the notification on Bleacher Report.

Good for him. He's had a good career, and no need to risk your future.

Dolphins must have seen this coming by letting him leave.

I was thinking, Miami, may have known something. But that's bad business if you want to do deals with other teams. I think it was a bad combo of injuries, not getting a raise and Tom Coughlin laying the wood...oh and Blake Bortles consistently throwing picks off his helmet lol

I believe they were two separate trades.

After the bludgeoning 62-7 playoff loss all those years ago they had this coming.

I know the optics would be bad (Jags get pick back so maybe not), but to have Brandon back at near vet minimum? I'd love to see that kind of depth. Not that he would last more than 6-8 games before injury, but that would be enough to step in for nagging injuries.

Or at least ask him to stay in shape, in cases he gets a call?

Well this is really no different than our picking up Arian Foster last season only to have him retire.

This is why those who advocate picking up players in their 30's I am adamantly against. You never know what's going to happen after you roll the dice on them.

What would the cap hit have been had we cut him... (Which most likely would have been inevitable if not for the trade)

He retired because he was stuck in the jaguars... had it been any other team he would be playing still

I think his rights stay with the Jags. They'd have to let him return and then deal him in some fashion.

Ricky is correct, if he unretires he's still a Jag.

True, and the Jags actually needed him as a starter I think.

That doesn't matter now, guys respect him and he has great leadership qualities..don't know if he's got the good s to be a coach, but why not bring him on to find out and have him around this season, if something goes bad maybe he will unrestored for us ina pinch.

Don't we already have coaches on this team that provide that service?

I'm just wishful thinking...I'm not sure the rules in having retired players around but if there aren't any restrictions I'd like him to be one of those guys..

DAVIE — Former Miami Dolphins safety Isa Abdul-Quddus had his career end due to a neck/shoulder nerve injury last season, but there he was on Monday, observing from the edge of the practice field.

    ADVERTISING
Abdul-Quddus has been helping Miami's defensive backs, including free-agent additions T.J. McDonald and Nate Allen, the safeties signed to take his spot opposite Pro Bowler Reshad Jones.

"(Abdul-Quddus) is helpful to be around," McDonald said Monday. "He’s the one on the film right now that we were watching from last year. He’s got experience in this system, so having him in the meeting room definitely helps and he was out there on the sideline today and things like that. Having him in the room, someone who’s been there, someone who’s done it in this system, is definitely helpful.”

    Maybe not wishful thinking.
