Jeff Darlington says the MRI did show some new damage, the extent is being debated and Tannehill will see a specialist. Placing him on IR is still very much on the table. Darlington also said Jay Cutler is interested in the Dolphins but only as a starter and for starter money.

Schefter says one source told him Ryan's knee was a "ticking time bomb". He's suggesting season-ending knee surgery.

And to the vid showing him walking with Gase: his gait looks like a guy who had a knee injury. You can walk around with some normalcy with an ACL and partial MCL post tear once swelling decreases.

I'm not suggesting he has a tear, but it's those times of instability during a "normal walk in the park" that's painful, much less playing in an NFL game.

The hyperextension is a concern, but the force on the joint after that hyperextension when he was still running is more of a concern.

I'm not convinced he'll be back anytime soon. This was the year. It really was.

While he makes the most sense given his experience under Gase's offense - players don't like that guy. Bringing him does what for us exactly? We're not winning a SB with him. I doubt we'd even make any playoff noise either.

I can't help but wonder if trading for a serviceable QB isn't the best option? Nick Foles for a mid round pick anyone?

So now we have Ryan's knee, which clearly wasn't ready. Then you have Ajayi's concussion, as well as the bell ringing MM8 took in the playoff game vs. the Steelers. With the latter two you'd have to be concerned with the possibility of big hits - especially for J-Train.

Definitely a horrid way to kick things off this year.

Wow, back to the potential of losing Tanny for the year?

I get the dislike some have for Cutler, but under Gase he is capable of good QB play. With Moore as the solid backup, my expectation would be a 10-6 season and the playoffs.

This is the worst... The team finally has a real coach and Tanny entering year 2 of the system, with a full compliment of weapons and this **** happens.

Cutler is really the only choice if we're serious about competing. He's knows Gase and his system. The learning curve at this stage of the year, is problematic for every other option. Problem is money... I'm happy to give Cutler a decent check, but what does he think "stater" money is? Hopefully not Chicago money...

I agree with drafting a QB if Tannehill needs surgery... and at that point, I find it doubtful that he stays in Miami.

    Totally sucks.

Reggie Wayne had a partial ACL tear and played for about two years before reconstruction.

IN SAYING THAT: two entirely different situations, two entirely different positions, etc., etc.

I have to think Tannehill will play if the team doesn't step in.

This is the year that Miami has some really good pieces in place. The time is now. Things could really blow up next year.

    Being
Being "blacklisted" (using your term) for your own intentional, outward, on the field actions intended to draw attention to yourself IS a cancer as the focus is no longer on the team, but the individual and becomes a distraction to the team itself.

And to elaborate just a bit more, without becoming overtly political, Kaepernick was just plain...rude and obnoxious in his views, drawing even MORE attention to himself.

We agree more times than not but if you can't agree with me this is a cancer, then we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

I agree with drafting a QB if Tannehll needs surgery but to speculate he doesn't remain in Miami? I doubt that very much. Marino remained in Miami after tearing his Achilles and THAT is even more vital to a QB in planting to step into a pass.

Medical procedures have evolved immensely since that tragic day in 1993.

Gotta figure, if you draft a QB high, it's the end of Tannehill. With his age and salary, it wouldn't seem prudent to draft a QB high AND keep Tannehill. If they don't draft one high, then he would seem to be safe.

yup I agree right now he knows his job is on the hot seat especially if mat moore comes in and plays well, he would play with 1 leg if it came to it.

I liked the Osweiler comment from someone yesterday eat some of his money and a late pick the browns may bite, I think we should rock with Moore specially if he can get 6 weeks with the first team and a playbook bigger than 12 pages.

Johnny football is also out there for a backup, lil money to offer and exposure to Miami id rather him on the sideline than Kaep.

I don't agree with the Moore part, only because he's not sought after by other teams as a starter.

if reports are true that he will wait 4-6 weeks to decide on a surgery, that is a solid choice. 4-6 weeks doesn't change the fact that he would miss this year and maybe some time next year - assuming he is here.

The best thing to do is not rush the surgery. Was there further damage to the knee?

according to one report I saw they said there was more damage to the knee than before, but they are searching for second and third opinions.

In my opinion the knee was never 100% and he should have elected to have surgery last yr being so late in the year with a good 6 months to rehab, the stem cell never fully repaired it and this happened. good thing it wasn't week 1 or 2 so we can find options.

well when your a starter you have a sorry team (Carolina) then become a backup with little no playing time and then get 4 games at the end of the year not many teams are going to be pushing for you to be a starter. But if im not mistaken he took less money to stay with Miami so obviously other teams where seeking out his services.

If he starts this year and goes 9-7 and Miami goes back to Tannehill I would think teams would be inquiring about his services!!!!

Moore is not the answer. The one year where he played a majority of the games, he threw for like an 87 rating. He was good in 2009 over 7 games.

I think he's a fine backup, but I can't imagine too many teams beating down his door to be their starter.
