Looks like 2nd opinions are sought after and that surgery is inevitable. This season is now uncertain as a whole. Miami potentially guessed wrong and now they may have to face their reality. I will say this, the elephant in the room, 2018 has a potential $15M cap savings for cutting Tannehill. It must be discussed and brought up, esp if we crap the bed this year.

I think if he has surgery, then his contract, for all intents and purposes will be null and void. They'll need to re evaluate the options--from Garoppolo, to all the guys coming out in the draft, any other FAs or trade possibilities, to Tannehill at a more team friendly deal.

Depending how the season goes, if it starts spiraling in a bad direction, they may also look to the trade deadline to pick up some future draft picks.

Right now, obviously its too early, but for everything there is a contingency. Every thing and every player has a value.

I actually think Matt Moore is a capable backup, and we may be fine with him. IMHO, the FO will proceed with Matt Moore with all the same plans they had with RT. If something happens to Moore, then they will consider other options, including a fire sale.

With all the weapons we have on offense, and Moore's familiarity with it, I wouldn't expect a huge drop off. I think the coaches and the players trust him.

Just for fun...one guy that interests me that no one has talked of yet is Brett Hundley, the backup in GB.

You are right and Miami has to look at all options. The other thing that could happen is Moore tears it up, opening the door for a young qb because we prove it is a system. Right now the focus is this season and helling Moore out as a starter and giving him a backup. Defense needs to step the hell up.

As for the future, the season will have to play out. There are intriguing picks and free agents but Miami must tend to Jarvis before we can deal w that

If the worst case scenario happens, then I hope we draft Josh Allen of Wyoming. A few of his throws reminds me of Marino. The irony of him using 17 did not escape me.

There is no doubt that Allen has a great skill for the NFL, and he should be a starting quarterback for a franchise in the next few years. Sources have compared Allen's skill set to Ben Roethlisberger, so it is clear that Allen has special and rare physical tools.

I don't think we should panic. If Moore AND Tannehill were hurt, then I would.
The offense will still be based on the run game, and the Big 3, have to make sure they step up

Add Cutler and my expectations for this season stay pretty much the same (winning record and playoffs). Going with Moore and Kap gets us to 7-8 wins, just enough to avoid any shot at drafting a QB in 2018, but not near enough for a winning season or playoffs.

Best case scenario right now is Tanny just needs to let his knee heal for a month or so, and then plays the rest of the season without issues. That doesn't feel all that realistic right now,but I'm clinging to that hope until told otherwise.

    So CAL
I knew this was the case after watching it, the knee was never at 100% and tanny was fooling himself. I hate the jay cutler add he wants first string money and time, in my opinion matt moore has done enough to earn the start this yr unless something is pulled off for a top QB, he played superb in the final 4 games, imagine what 6 weeks of first team reps will get him with a playbook bigger than 12 pages?

Here is my opinion, dolphin fans are back and forth about keap personally I don't think he is a good fit nor right for the phins and they shouldn't sign him, that's not his PR nightmare im talking about just based on play. I think if us fans want some publicity why not Johnny football? you can get him for minimal money and would be a backup and bring some exposure to Miami, and he showed some signs of promise. all im saying as a backup why not shoot for him or as someone said in another thread trade for osweiler.

But in my opinion I think moore should get his shot, hes seen the system seen the puppet strings now he just has to take it to the field.

Call Manning or roll with Moore.

I can't understand how anyone can say, in the same reply, that Colin Kaepernick would be a bad fit and a distraction, and then suggest that Miami should instead, take a look at Johnny Manziel.

I have vivid memories of the corpse of Manning being dragged along to a Super Bowl win by an awesome Denver defense. Nothing about that makes me want that version of Peyton down here in Miami.

Manziel would be a nice challenge for Gase. He would cement a legendary status as a QB Whisperer if he turned Johnny Football into a solid NFL QB. Still rather have Cutler.

Like most, I too am concerned with the loss of Tannehill and my opinion from yesterday that Tannehill being gone for the season hasn't changed, so the question becomes, where do we go from here?

All who are advocating bringing in another quarterback to start ahead of Matt Moore, I can't even begin to express how foolish that is, especially when I see some of the names mentioned already in back-up roles themselves. Matt Moore is going to be our starting quarterback so everyone just needs to accept that, bottom line.

What we do for back-up to Moore though now becomes paramount. I know it's a different time frame, different players and different head coach, but this season is going to closely mirror the 1993 season when Marino went down in week 5 against the Browns. Coming into week 5, Miami was 3-1 on the season and when Marino went down with his Achilles tendon rupture, everyone's heart dropped and felt our season was done but Scott Mitchell came in and picked up right where Marino left off...just like Morrell came in for Griese and Miami conitnued to win. What did us in though was Mitchell's injury. When Scott Mitchell ended up going down, Miami was 8-2, Doug Pederson just wasn't going to cut it and we brought in Steve DeBerg who navigated us to the infamous Snow Bowl victory against Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. Sadly we lost the remaining 5 games and missed the playoffs but the overall point I'm making is that we don't need to go out and find a STARTER over Moore. We didn't go out and try to find a starter for Marino and we don't need to for Tannehill...but we do need to make sure that Moore is properly backed up.

With Tannehill gone (I'm surmising) this season is going to be a very interesting one and a true test for Gase. Leadership is always tested not when things are going well...as they did last season, but when you're faced with adversity. I'm going to place my faith in Gase, as I had in Shula for so many years and have faith we'll have a successful season
