Riiiiiiiiight. As if that wasn't due to Cutler's power position when Gase groveled to get him out of retirement i.e. was retired and didn't feel compelled to play "until his wife told him to".
Well yea. However, you do not pay Cutler that money to ride the bench. You say, "thanks, but not thanks."
Then they messed up having him back up a QB who injured his knee late in the year, no? You can't argue they played this perfectly, but had concerns with Moore lasting a season.
Still waiting for what a better play would have been given the information we had pre-injury. As I pointed out in post #61, drafting a QB high this year was likely too costly and probably not worth the value anyway. So that means you're realistically comparing Moore to some other backup QB that we should've signed. Given how Moore played last year, and given his relatively low cost, I think you're injecting far more uncertainty by signing a different backup QB and jettisoning Moore using only the information we had pre-injury. So what would've been the clearly better play without using info we have now?
If we look at the available QBs, there was Osweiler, Fitzpatrick, Manziel, Griffin, and Kapaernick. Pluse some other clip board holders. Garrapolo wasn't available unless we offered foolish trade bait, I was genuinely worried that Cleveland might send there #1 overall in the daft to NE for him. Exactly none is f the available QBs of them offered an upgrade over Moore based on last year's performance. I know Kapaernick's name gets thrown around a lot but its 3 years since he was any good at being an NFL QB.
I've been one of Moore's biggest fans on this board, but I remember when a few posters made the point that he's injury prone. I don't agree with handing the job to Cutler but he's had a nice full season with Gase. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
