I know that few of you want to hear this, and it makes me smile on the inside just thinking about it. Armando reported last night that the Dolphins considered reaching out to four quarterbacks total-

    1) Cutler
    2) Kaepernick
    3) Kyle Orton
    4) Tim Tebow

Yes Dol-fans...we considered embracing Tebowmania over the Kaepernick freakshow and bringing in two older guys.

Awwww, come on! We missed out on Tebow time?

You know what, I'll bet they could still get him as a backup. Ditch Fales or whomever.

    Teeeeeeeeeeboooooooooooow!

we need to address this in the draft or offseason next year. We can't be held hostage to RT, as much as I love him.

I love Tebow. Would love to see him on the roster as a backup. Best college football player of all time and his teammates would run through a wall for him The guy is a great guy. Everyone can be a megaphone for any belief they have but Tebow gets drummed out of the NFL for thanking God for his blessings. This world is so jacked up.

I love Tim Tebow. He was the greatest college football player ever in my opinion, an INCREDIBLE human being; has a personality that just lights up a room and it was always so much FUN watching him play in Gainsville. You can't help but to LIKE Tim Tebow (unless you're just that much of a CAD). I was really hopeful he could have a successful NFL career but even before he was drafted, I always suspected that because of his playing style, if he did play in the NFL he wouldn't last long.

I would DEFINITELY have Tebow on my roster, even if it were in a back-up role but as pro football is a much different game than college, I wouldn't have him as a starter.

Well I don't care what anyone says, because I saw it way too often in the PoFo, the MAIN reason Tebow isn't on an NFL team isn't because of his playing ability, but because of his openly professed Christian faith. No one will ever be able to convince me otherwise and it's a shame because the man is a leader and a motivator.

I can see the argument Tebow might be acceptable as a backup based on playing ability alone, but I would shriek like a pterodactyl (of course we don't know what kind of sound they made, but it sounds fun to imagine haha!) if Tebow were our starting QB.. based on playing ability alone!

I remember how he was at Denver.. Tebow is one of those QB's that's as memorable as Marino, as in "hard to forget". Those balls he threw were flying closer to the stands than the WRs in some cases. Absolutely terrible QB, and Elway recognized as much. Elway was smart to get rid of Tebow the year after they made the playoffs (and even won a playoff game), got Manning the next year and the difference was night and day, not just an "upgrade".

I know that the third QB is usually a developmental guy, but can you imagine Cutler starting, Moore backing him up and Tebow as the third QB? They line up in the Wildcat and out comes Tebow. "WTF?" says the defensive coordinator. Confusion reigns. Direct snap to Ayaji, who pitches it to Tebow before Ayaji plows into the line off left guard. Tebow pump fakes on the run, sweeps right end and he's gone. Every damn Gator in the stands starts screaming hysterically. Tebow takes two knees in the end zone and bows his head. Pandemonium.

Tebow was an all time great college qb, but his game doesn't translate well to the NFL. And he was helped by the unreal cast around him: two all-pro's in the Pouncey brothers, a 10 year NFL starting tackle in Marcus Gilbert, an all pro tight end in Aaron Hernandez and a Reggie Bush clone in Percy Harvin. And three more NFL WRs in Riley Cooper, David Nelson and Louis Murphy. Percy alone made them impossible to defend in the spread with him in the backfield and motioning across the line every play. He always had trouble staring down his WRs and throwing wobbling ducks that got there but weren't frozen ropes. NFL windows are impossibly small and the defenses infinitely more sophisticated with round the clock practice and film study vs limited coaching time for student athletes. Nevermind that NFL DBs are all uber elite athletes and the avg LB goes 250 w quicks. Not too easy to just run them over like he did in college.

He's an incredible scrapper and deadly when coupled with that attack, but when you hear NFL guys on His OWN TEAM saying he was the worst practice qb they had ever seen, it says something. I do think the doubters got in his head. His accuracy fell off a cliff in the NFL and that was never elite to begin with. ....and I am as die hard a Gator as you'll ever meet. Still hate Elway and Fox to this day. He might have panned out into something serviceable if someone had just believed in him instead of looking appalled every time he came back to win a game.

Armando reported that they considered him and Kelly agreed, so it wasn't a lie. I didn't say that we were on the verge of signing him or anything like that- I just shared it because I know we have lots of Gators and Christian fans here that love the guy and the presence that he brings when walking into a room (myself included).

I would personally love to have Tebow as a QB3 that comes in for goal line Wildcat type plays. That would literally make my year since our organization would be embracing a darn near perfect human over people who bad-mouth America or praise Communism. I am personally tired of looking at the TV and seeing some woman saying she was raped, beat up or harassed by a professional athlete and I would LOVE to see a league where only Tim Tebow's are able to make millions for playing a game. That's how it used to be before many of us were born...and society needs that these days.

Plain and simple- athletes should be role models 1st and competitors 2nd. So if the Dolphins considered Tebow even for 30 seconds, I applaud them. That's the real story here.

I can understand that point of view.

Since I have been born and watched football Tebow is the worst passing quarterback I have ever seen start a NFL game. He is beyond horrible. The idea that he isn't on a NFL team in a league with many players who are openly professed Christians is one where I disagree with more than almost anything. I think the flat earthers have more of a argument. It is rare to go a Sunday without hearing on player talk about Jesus Christ and God.

    It is not a lie.

    Begin Scene:
Someone in the room: What about Tebow?

Everyone starts laughing so hard they all pass out.
    End Scene:

The Dolphins technically considered Tim "The worst passing quarterback to have ever started a NFL game in the modern era" Tebow.

Jon Kitna had a nice long career and laughs at this post, Christians are common in the NFL.

Tim Tebow maybe a great guy, but he's not in the NFL because he can't complete over 50% of his passes. Don't tell me he didn't have chances either, if Rex Ryan felt Tebow could help him win more he would've played him. The Eagles and Patriots gave him a fair shot too.

All I'm going to say is this...as I've avoided all of the responses...

Google Tim Tebow and in every freaking article, you'll see his Christian faith mentioned either negatively or as a point of controversy. If you can find that as equally with any other NFL player who's a professed Christian then I'll entertain the "Jon Kitna" point of view but until then....my mind is already made up!

What about Reggie White? he was an acting minister, hence the nick name, "Minister of Defense", and these guys with their prayer circles after the games? members of both teams united by their belief in God?

The NFL is about as Christian an organization as any outside of churches, the VAST majority are Christians, way higher than any random group of people you could gather up.

However, I have to turn my head when dude throws the ball, it's painful to watch, the worst QB mechanics I've ever seen at the pro level, scary bad.

Natural born leader, it's really a shame, his coaches failed him early in life.

This is true.. and there are quite a few players in the NFL (and in other sports) that keep professing their faith publicly and explain what happened in games with "God did this".. "God did that".. etc.. with no pushback if they are good players.

Take Russell Wilson. In the 2015 playoffs (2014 season) RW explains that miraculous comeback against GB in the NFC championship game by saying "That's God setting it up, to make it so dramatic, so rewarding, so special".

Then the next game, in the SB against NE, RW said this about that famous interception he threw at the end: "The play happens, and they pick the ball off. And I take three steps. And on the third step God says to me, 'I'm using you ... I want to see how you respond. But most importantly, I want them to see how you respond.'"

Pay more attention to RW and you'll see he's a good example of someone who openly professes his faith but doesn't get much flak for it. Why? Because he's a top level QB .. opposite of Tebow.

I never heard Ray Lewis have an interview where he didn't talk about God.

Yes, in an organization that a vast majority are Christian, where they have chaplains and teams come together after every game to pay together, in a Christian prayer, Tebow is not in the NFL because he is Christian.

Might as well say Tebow is not in the NFL because he says he is a straight man and has sex with women.

I think that is BS. It is pure talent or lack there of. He was not interested in playing a different position, so he was not good at it. He is a terrible, terrible, terrible quarterback. Terrible.

I am not even using exaggeration when I say he is the worst passing quarterback I have ever seen.

I would rather have Johnny Manziel as the quarterback. Who is also a Christian.

I agree that lack of talent is the biggest and most important reason but you can't deny NFL teams wanted no part of the media circus Tim Tebow brought along. And ESPN was to blame for that. If a player has talent, teams will put up with the bull****. If not, no. Same issue with Kaepernick.

    I do deny that.

Tebow is not even worth a third string quarterback when it comes to arm talent. If he did, they would love the butts in seats and the increase jersey sales.

Plus, Tebow deserves more blame than ESPN. If Tebow was as self promoting as Russell "Also a huge Christian" Wilson, there wouldn't be that part of the circus surrounding him. Tebow helped create and profit off his circus with his charisma.

Kaepernick is heads and shoulders above Tebow in quarterback talent. It is not even close.

I think there is a better argument that his career lasted as long as it did due to his "circus" and his Christian faith. People want to see him succeed, even though he did not earn a shot.

Kaep is a distraction because he's anti-American and filled with hate speech.

Brandon Marshall is a distraction because he's a diva and a media whore.

Tebow is a distraction because he's a Christian.

Now, don't get me wrong- minor league baseball has loved that distraction because it has sold out otherwise empty stadiums. An Asheville team actually changed their digital batting lineup to read that there were Tebow, then a bunch of guys named "Not Tebow." But the media circus has nothing to do with what Tim says or does- it's just the presence of him that makes headlines. You can't say that about any other professional athlete because it's never happened before.

Hell, we have a protest scheduled for Kaep in NY next week to get NFL owners to reconsider him. This is a guy who praises Castro for crying out loud...but we can't have one thread about Tebow on a forum where he has hundreds of fans? Before you say "it's not about religion", maybe you'd better think about what it is about then.

It happens so often now, that you don't even notice it anymore, Evander Holyfield is the athlete that really changed things when he would say, when asked how the fight went, "first, I'd like to thank God for..." etc, he made a point out of thanking God first, always.

That caught on big time, it made perfect sense, and soon athlete's in all sports were doing it, he wasn't the first guy to thank God, not by a long shot, it was common, but he was the first guy to make a point of thanking God first, before talking about himself or anything he achieved in any way, he thanked God first, because after all it's only through God's good graces that he is where he is.

I'd like to point out that I'm not religious, I'm just speaking from what is his frame of mind, or any devout Christian's mind would be, as I understand and respect the basics of nearly all religious beliefs, God created us all, hence he gets all the credit, and deservedly so, so it's a brilliant, simple way of showing that, God first.

Also, there are owners/GMs that are openly Christian, it's pretty common to be openly Christian here in the States, lol.

We need to find the first openly gay, Christian fundamentalist, anti-Cuban, anti-police, racial discrimination activist who has domestic abuse and date rape charges, plus steroid allegations on his record, plus allegations of taking money in college, being a lazy practice player who doesn't hit the gym --- and make that guy the face of this franchise.

THAT guy ticks all the boxes.
