They didn't pay 10-13 mill to have a qb competition or for a backup, Cutler is going to start or he would have stayed retired just his type of personality!!!!
Raiders paid $10 million for Schaub, had a preseason competition, and Schaub was terrible, so he did not see regular game time. Proven starter veteran QB's in the NFL get paid at least $10 million. That's just where the salaries are today. Paying Cutler $10 million is right in line with what a QB with his resume gets. This is why each year more teams are using high first round draft picks on QB's who may or may not produce good results. QB position is important and drafting a rookie QB gives the team an opportunity to try a guy out at $1 million per year for 4 years. So, it's worth it for an NFL team to take a pot shot on a guy. Like Jax did with Bortles or the Rams did with Goff. The other option is to pay veteran QB's and those salaries are much , much higher. I am certain that if Cutler stinks in preseason he will not be playing regular season.
Shannon does not seem to realize that Kapernick cannot throw the ball with any accuracy. The reality is that Kap is not a legit NFL QB.
ya people are over looking the fact that he is a below avg qb, just because he had 1 yr where noone was prepared for his running ability and went to the super bowl, after that every team including the rams lol was ready and knew his strengths and weakness' and they exploited it
But really is cutler a proven starter? wasn't he benched like 4 or 5 times during his career? Well seeing how cutler isn't going to play Thursday gives him really only 3 pre season games to actively see where he's at and I seriously doubt they play him much game 2, his time will come game 3 and 4, which is starter time.
Look at Cutler's season under Gase and compare it to Tannehill's. Where do you see the drop off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also, I haven't noticed any of the big media organizations that are touting Kapaernick offering him a job in front of a camera. If Romo and Cutler canland media jobs when they weren't considered A list 'personalities' as players, why not sign the most talked about sportsman of the year to your channel if the NFL teams aren't hiring him. Is that discrimination too?
Stephen A. Smith bashed Miami for even considering Orton, Tebow, and Cutler. And that's fine. Where he falls short is not acknowledging just how limited Miami's options are at this point.
I don't watch ESPN except for football games anymore and have never watched or listened to his show on TV or the radio. The only time I see him blather is when someone posts a video of it. And he always sounds like a total idiot.
Bottom line: Anyone who thinks Cutler is much better than Kap is wrong. Anyone who thinks Kap is much better than Cutler is wrong. While they both have strengths and weaknesses, they're both decent QBs. All the blowhards on teevee need content to yammer on about.
What the media talking heads just don't seem to get is that nobody wants the backup QB to be the most talked about player on the team, which is what would happen if they signed Kaepernick. Teams do not want the distraction. The only reason Jay Cutler is being discussed so negatively in the media today is because Kap was available and it furthers their narrative that he is being blackballed.
Cutler hasn't been grinding and working at his craft for almost a year. I'm slowly coming down, but mostly because I think Cutlers going to play three games, take a dive and collect a payday for sitting in the SoFlo sun for a year. Just to make mama happy. Not me normally to be this negative nancy, but this cake tastes like butt!
And anyone who doesn't think Kap is getting blackballed..................................................... speechless
Is it being blackballed to make a decision not to hire someone based on the fact that the way the present themselves to your customers (the fans) is going alienate a sizable percentage of them? Or is that just a sound business decision for a publicity-based business like a professional sport?
The Cutler signing is just getting sucked into this on-going Kap issue, but it doesn't really fit, and the media guys know it but ignore it. Shannon and Smith begin by destroying their own arguments when they say, "we get that there's a relationship with Cutler and Gase etc. etc.... BUT.... Kap blah blah blah". Sorry guys, I know you're looking to rant and rave about Kap, but the Cutler scenario isn't ammo for that. It's a very specific situation that just so happens to be occurring at a time when Kap is unemployed. That it. No issue. Maybe there might have been issue if Cutler had said no or wasn't available, but that didn't happen. Lazy journalism. They need to go find some teams who do need a QB, see if they're looking at Kap, and also consider that whether or not things would actually be different, whether or not the team would have genuine interest in Kap, if the out-spoken issue didn't exist. And then... they would need to try to determine if the problem is just an issue of being outspoken rather than it being a race-base issue. For example, if Kap had been going on about a controversial but non-race related issue, would if still be facing any possible 'black-balling'.
probably because he was still under contract with the Bengals. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/spo...ls-oral-history-carson-palmer-trade/76015810/
Romo & Cutler were actively retired & not seeking a job in the NFL as players. Kap is still looking & hasn't declared any intention of retiring. That would be the most obvious difference.
This. Keep in mind, Jay Cutler stated that it was his wife who convinced him to come back. Also, yes, I do believe C. Kap is being blackballed, but not by Miami, considering that both Ross and Gase stood by the players on the team who were protesting with Colin last season.
Yeah, but those players were protesting with Kaepernick on his police brutality awareness, not his Castro comments. Edit: I'm so sorry, I read your post wrong. I agree with your post.
I really like this signing. We can definitely get 16+ games out of the Cutler/Moore combo, and get game winning QB play out of both. We run and take shots deep when required. Both of our QB's are above average on deep throw mechanics, and both are the gunslingers Adam Gase wants for his system. This is also CashInFist that wants his old account reinstated. I asked Paul13 to give a longtime brother a little help.
Totally agree with you. Every business has the right to make personnell decisions and background, history, and appearance matter. When people like Vick, and Adrian Beaterson, and Joe Mixon and Hardy and Clark and dozens of others who have billion time more heinous acts can come back to high profile high paying NFL jobs and Kap can't it should be obvious. Apparently violence against women and children is acceptable, protests and political statements not so much. He may not be the best QB in the league but he's the best FA QB out there. Whether you agree with his political views and statements or not, you have to admit that that's why he's unemployed. And in the land of the free, that's wrong.
Stop making a false equivalency, it's dishonest. The major difference is nobody defended those guys. You didn't have NFL players, fans and the media clamoring for Vick to be let off the hook. You didn't have them clamoring for Ray Rice to be let off the hook. You've got a bunch of NFL players and media personalities and fans defending a guy that disrespected the flag and the national anthem, called police slave patrol and defended Castro in Miami. That's the same as having a Cuban go to the Eric Garner family and praise the police that killed him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I never said that and you're dishonest for implying that. I'm saying nobody defended Vick or Rice like so many are defending Kaepernick. Many of his defenders are just dismissing or understating the fact that he went to Miami and defended a murderous dictator in front of those who fled from his regime. That's very similar to telling Eric Garner or Philando Castille's families how great the cops are that killed them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Vick did his time are you kidding me the guys missed out on millions and millions and is way better than kap and Adrian Peterson is 500 times better at his position than kap will ever be at his and had to sit a year so your really talking about who goes to bat for whom, hardy had jerry jones in his corner which already helped his cause. Mixon was a minor when his incident happened. Kap was an up and comer his abilities started to decline so he decided to stay relevant and do something flashy on a team who made him a 3rd stringer so no one to go to bat for him except harbaugh who is now in the NCAA. No one wants a 3rd string or second string being the focal point of their team reason why no one is going to give Johnny football another shot its not worth all the hoopla and sorry to say kap may only be able to start for a small select few of nfl teams. All I know is if I pull my pants down and do the party boy on my boss' desk that act alone may or may not prevent me from getting hired again at another job once they call to ask about me. That's a position you have to be willing to live with when you take action whether its wrong or not just because you feel its the right thing to do may not be the right thing to do to whomever writes your checks but just because he is a below avg qb but the best one available doesn't mean someone should hire him. he should have spent more time in the film room than figuring out how to wear a castro t shirt or how and where to kneel and he would have a job regardless of those 2 incidences. I don't hear no one talking about Brandon marshal (den) who kneeled practically every game last yr probably because the guy pulls his weight and is a downright stud.
The man threw for 2,241 yards, 16 TDs, 4 Ints, and completed 59.2 percent of his passes, all while playing 12 games (starting 11). What are you talking about?
Im not talking about 2016 in garbage time how many games did he win last year? 2? Im talking 2015 he played 9 or 10 games it was very dismal year then followed by a protest, no one cares or knows about 2016 except the fact he protest and didn't win. you have to know when and where the right time is a protest do you think the long snapper could hold a protest and it go over well? I mean common be smart about your situation you sign a lengthy expensive deal then S*** the bed then protest = all bad that's all anyone remembers, what you think is the first thing anyone is gonna think if you bring up vick in a convo = dog fighting, ray caruth? ray rice? its just how things go you can be super talented and do something totally against peoples wishes or thoughts and now you are pegged as such. specially being a qb everything is pointed at you, know what I mean?
