if we had a 99 yard td and recovered a fumble on the ensuing play in the regular season, i would need new pants

Ok, it was just a preseason game. Offensively we only had ONE starting offensive lineman in the game (Bushrod), Moore came in for ONE series and was pulled, so he had no time to get any rhythm going, Ajayi out on concussion protocol so we basically had our 3rd and 4th string quarterbacks navigating the helm behind a second string offensive line against Atlanta's first string defense until they pulled their starters.

Defensively, it was a shame to see McMillian get hurt on the punt coverage and not be able to see what he could do. Like many of you, I was a bit excited about this kid and with the report of a torn ACL, this team just can't cut a break.

All in all, not a bad showing by the Dolphins. There were moments of glitter and gold....and moments of sewage and crap. With the change though to the procedure for reducing the roster until after the last preseason game though, some of these hopefuls will get more playing time and chances to try and convince the coaching staff they deserve a shot at the team.

Next game though, Cutler needs A LOT of playing time, not because of his ability or lack there of, but he needs to get his timing and chemistry down with our receivers. If he is indeed going to be the starter, he's GOT to get that down otherwise we're going to have so many miscues during the season that everyone will be screaming for Matt Moore, calling for Gase's head, holding seances and offering the head of a dolphin to the football gods....dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!!!!!

This was a nice win that sets the tone for a positive season but next preseason game though is where my expectations will be much higher

So many of the front seven backups looked good. It was very encouraging.

The whole DT position played well. Even that Lawrence Okoye guy, who has like zero bend to him. It wasn't just Davon Godchaux though he played really well. It was also Jordan Phillips stepping it up, Vincent Taylor, etc.

I don't think a single LB that stepped on the field had a bad game. They all looked good. Deon Lacey looked very compelling especially since he's got 4.4-4.5 speed and was such a play maker in the passing game up in Canada. But the UDFA rookie Chase Allen played well, as did Mike Hull (with the exception of one play), Trevor Reilly. It was kind of crazy.

And the DEs all played well too. Including Cameron Malveaux who again like Okoye has no bend to him. Even so he played well. Charles Harris had the first step you wanted to see, got involved in the action with the QB. Praise Martin-Oguike had a role carved out for him that suited his skill set and he played well within that role. And then you look at Joby Saint Fleur and to me, in only 10 snaps, he was the storyline of the DE backups. And that's to say nothing of William Hayes, who looked like he should be starting.

Too bad the offensive line was dog poo. With the possible exceptions of Avery Young, Eric Smith, MAYBE Kraig Urbik, and MAYBE Sam Young. Maybe.

Francis Owusu was a real shock to me. He never looked like a natural receiver at Stanford despite his physical gifts, and then he's spent a lot of his time in Miami either trying to graduate or I think he got hurt too. Lesson for me is never underestimate great athletes with Stanford degrees. Two great catches, one of them on Jalen Collins.

Of course Damore'ea Stringfellow got the attention. He looks like Cordarelle Patterson out there (back when Patterson was a Vol). But every 4th or 5th ball he looks like he's trying to catch the football with tennis rackets. He'll need to keep showing he can make big plays, and then dial down the drops (he dropped two catchable balls last night), as well as the stupid penalties (false start and offensive pass interference). He's had a reputation as a guy that hasn't quite had his head screwed on right. He needs to show different.
