Saw every throw. He did hit Parker in the endzone on Howard and had a nice roll out to Landry. Will take a few weeks. He will be rusty in the games coming up. BUT, he has (dare I say) a demeanor and mannerism I have not seen here since Marino. It is a confidence and a swag. I love RT, but he doesn't have it. He made bad throws, but the mentality is there. Smooth, effortless and he was pre snapping the hell out of things

Thing with Cutler, for better or worse he always has confidence with his throws. Sometimes very overconfident and leads to INT's but he is definitely not afraid of making a mistake.

For a vet like him, 4 weeks should be plenty. It is the run game that worries me right now and the health of Ajayi.

I'll tell you guys what, I am hoping that Gase installs a Jay Cutler-Lite. I don't mind him stretching the field and doing what Jay Cutler does and slang the rock, but we really need to make sure that he curtails the turnovers. I think our offense is gonna be as good as it has been in well over a decade, but I am not nearly as confident with our defense. Avoiding turnovers will avoid giving teams favorable field position and will kill potential scoring drives.

I would strongly advise Gase to rely heavily on Ajayi and ask Cutler to throw fewer but safer passes in games. I think that Drake could really carve out a niche as a reliable check down guy that can turn a small catch into a big play. Just an aside, I really walked away impressed with Marqueis Gray on Thursday. Among Thomas, Fasano, and Gray, I thought that working that tight end position could also be the safety valve for Jay.

When Jay throws an INT he just shrugs it off, doesn't care, and will go after that throw again.. like I said for better or worse he has that confidence in his throws.. we havent had a guy like that since Marino. Everyone else has been so robotic

I think Gase has had the most success in which Cutler posted the second lowest interception percentage of his career. Seems like Gase also did a good job with Tannehill's improvement in that same department with some additional negatives improved in a short time. Guess thats why they say Gase is the QB whisperer. Think aligning Cutler easier than creating Tannehill into a top shelf QB..in which truthfully the jury was still out.

Gases view while in Chicago about the Cutler turnover problem.

“A lot of it has to do with – and I know you’re not going to believe this – (Cutler) doing a great job of being patient,” Gase said. “I know that was hard for him in the past. But he really had a great mindset going into the season.

“It started in training camp where I think he went 11 practices before he threw an interception. He did a great job of practicing taking care of the football and he didn’t force throws. For him to do that, he gave me the feeling that we were headed in the right direction.”

Funny after the fact of hoping Tannehill was actually making that next big step think we are or maybe are much better off with a vet. who not only is known for arm strength and accuracy but actual prolonged years of experience and see the potential for a much better situation with him than the Hope of our young guy still learning on the job maybe reaching a level of consistence and dependability that we all were waiting for to finally depend on, which realistically has not been seen to this point in his career though the signs of improvement last year were unmistakable.

No clue how this will all turn out but at least its moving in a direction in which logic and realistic evaluations are common place, which is pretty damn refreshing compared to the crap we've had to deal with in a to long negative past....

Its important to remember that for large segments of his time with the Bears, the guys Cutler was throwing to were pretty poor. He isn't without some blame himself, but any QB can only go as high as his team will allow him. During Jay's first year in Chicago in 2009, Devin Hester - the KR/DB, was his #1 WR, with Earl Bennett and Johnny Knox the others.

Regardless, the notion that he's only had one good season is pure bunk.
