That works too. Most websites are pretty Chrome friendly these days. I generally use my laptop when possible, but its nice to have the ability to do things if needed on my phone too.
Since I've never done a heavy defense player draft, is the importance in offense at first, then defense or vice versa?
I've done IDP for a long time. Generally speaking, your offensive players are going to score more than your defensive ones. However, big plays by a defender can sometimes add up to a big day for them as well. For example, a pick-6 gives you the 3 points for the INT, 6 for the TD, 1 point for every 10 yards on the return, and a bonus of 1.5 for a return greater than 50 yards. So that single play could be worth more than 20 points on a really long one. In general though, after the big sack guys are off the board, I almost always go after players who are dependable tackle machines. The best safetys are often some of the most desireable players in the league for IDP. This league's defensive scoring isn't as generous as the one that I ran for a long time, so I'm going to have to check myself also. I gave bigger points for sacks and FF. Whether you want to sprinkle in a key defender here or there early in the draft is up to you of course. Its kind of an exercise in getting a guy before the position becomes too shallow, like getting a good 2B or C in fantasy baseball.
Go over to the league Rev, click on the PLAYERS link, and then click on each position tab. That'll give you a good idea of what the scoring is like and how to organize your draft. Also, click on the History tab at the top right. Click on 2016 SEASON next to the blue "almanac". Then click on Draft Results. That'll let you see how last year's draft went. Usually you fill out most of your offense first.
Do Defensive players count for KR and PR return points? I took a flyer on Peppers assuming he would get KR yards, but looking at the scoring i think only Off. Players will get those yards? anyone know?
Its a good question. I know that they count in ESPN leagues, but I haven't played nearly as much in the NFL.com ones to remember.
You get 100 points for the whole year, each week you bid on the players you want against everyone else in the league. So if per-se I bid 5 points for player X after week 1 and you bid 10 points for a player you'll get him and go down to 90 points for the rest of the season, and i'll keep my 5 points.
yeah, to be honest last year I mostly used 1 or 2 points bids for most players last year. But if there is a breakout player you'll have to up the ante.
You get $100 for the season to bid with. Highest bid on each player wins him. Waivers end sometime after midnight on Tuesdays each week, so try to get your bids in before midnight (you'll see the due date next to each player's name). You can bid $0 and still win if no one else bids, or if you have the highest waiver priority and no one outbids you. After waivers clear, everyone becomes a FA, free to add at anytime.
You can also wait til the waiver process is done for that week which I believe is every weds and pick up players. With Free Agent Auction Bids the person with the worst record doesn't automatically get waiver priority, it's based on how much you're willing to spend for the player. So if I value him at 10 waiver points and you value him at 8, he will be mine assuming no one bids more. You'd keep your 8 waiver points in that scenario. The bids are designed for priority type players. Let's say a running back gets hurt...well we know that's going to be a bidding war often times for most decent backups. Conversely if all I need is a d player for the week I may only bid a couple of points to make sure I get him.
I never had until last year. I think that I finished with 80+ waiver points. The odds of a player who's worth bidding very much on popping up AND going to you aren't great. Like Boik said, if its a guy you're just filling a roster spot for a BYE week or whatnot, I often bid a couple of points and see what happens. If I don't get my guy, then there are others who will be free in the middle of the week. Also, right now I have waiver priority, so I win ties
If you think about it it's really the only fair way to run a league. A team that drafts last usually can start with the first bid. But that team can easily end up more stacked then a team drafted before them by drafting well. With FAAB (Free Agent Auction Bids) If I realize I have a particular weakness and a player goes off and/or gets a lot of targets and carries then i can simply outbid people for a back or receiver but it comes at a cost. In the dynasty league some of us are in, a person used all 100 points to acquire previously retired Marshawn Lynch. I don't really recommend that strategy cause injuries happen and other stars always emerge. Now he's stuck with 0 point bids hoping players slip through the cracks. But that's the chance you take. I just like that it gives the user more control over which players they prioritize.
Who do you guys think came out with the best team? I'm personally digging arod2jordy's team. Unlucky 13 will have a good team once zeke is back
Arod2Jordy has Elliot. I think he could struggle early, between Zeke's suspension and Luck's injury. His team has a lot of boom or bust. I think that the Purple headed warriors look loaded, and Crazy Coconuts look really good also. I like my defense also, but I didn't get the guys I wanted most. Drafting last, I made my two picks one round on offense, put three defensive players in my que, and all three were gone before my turn came up again. Missed the start of the run on defenders. But still pretty happy with how that turned out.
Bummer, Matt. At least it's not me again losing a top WR at the start of the season. Hey if it makes you feel better, I picked up Hogan.
It looks like I've lost my #3 RB, Spencer Ware for the season as well, and I have basically nothing behind him, since I already lost Dixon for the season too. Yikes.
I think this is the 2nd year in a row i had a serious wr injury early...last year i think it was Watkins. I still have Cooper, Cobb, Crabtree, Funchess, Coleman etc all of whom i feel like can hit 1000 yards. Most likely 1 or 2 wont cause stuff happens, but Funchess has wrapped up the #2 job and imo can challenge for the #1. Coleman is the unquestioned #1. Cobb, GB is showing a renewed emphasis getting him the ball. And we know Cooper and Crabtree will get targets.
Figures, I comment about you losing Edelman, and then I lose Meredith today who was due for a sneaky good season.
Looking for two more for a different league, thought I'd post in here this is at Fleaflicker.com. It's a keeper league. 3 keepers, ... send me an message on here with your email. Whelp, Eric Berry got my 6 points before I lost him for the season. Looks like I'll be scanning for a new DB.
Ugh, nothing worse than losing fantasy starters early in games and then losing your week. First TJ Watt is done early in the 2nd qtr, then Jordy is done on the first play, then BJ Goodson is inactive on a Mon night, and Tavon Wilson is done in the 2nd quarter. I'm thinking to myself- "I only need 7 points in the 2nd half between Devon Kennard and Tavon Wilson, that's doable"..... and then I look at Detroit's defensive personnel and I'm like "where the hell is Wilson?!" Ugh.
Well, this is not my week. My top three RBs, my #4 WR, my kicker, and all three LBs are on bye. Can't exactly patch that for the week. Only player on my bench this week will be my backup QB.
I'm looking good so far this week to get the win and get to 4-2, but losing ARod is a killer. Good thing I have Wentz as my backup.
Sorry 'bout your loss man. I sh*t the bed this week but still managed to win and hold onto 2nd place. As long as I win the points crown again I'll be happy.
