This means nothing. Just plug in the next guy and he will have 80+ catches.

If Edelman is done for the year, I don't think that New England will be all that worse off. However, he is especially difficult for the Fins to contain, so it could make our matchups vs them a tad easier.

The guy is a very good NFL receiver, of course this hurts their team and makes our chances better in beating them.

    he is done for season.

And this really doesnt hurt the patriots at all. Edelman is overrated, theyll sign some random receiver that gets waived next week and you will see him produce like edelman.

The patriots can coach just about any receiver or running back to produce in their system. They dont look at speed or route running ability or agility, all they look for is hands... can they catch a ball, whats their fumble/drop rate? Those are the most important stats that belichick looks for.

Huh...this is about as head scratching as it gets for me..of course with his abilities removed from the equation unless your replacing him with someone on equal ground, they are a weaker team today..Edelman is a very good player in any system..

Look, we're all fans here and in the sports world, we all "hate" the Patriots...in the sense of being fans for our Dolphins but wish Julius Edleman all the worse? To hope his knee is shredded? C'mon guys, we're not evil people and if you truly hope that in your heart you need to take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror.

As for Edleman himself, he is a beast on the field and has been a favorite target of Brady. With him being out, it does hurt them offensively however as someone else pointed out earlier, Belichick is such a great coach that he'll fill that hole and/or adjust accordingly where the effects will be nominal.

God how I can't wait for HIM to retire LOL!!!!!!

My "wishing" that his knee is shredded has no bearing on the actual status of his knee.

Furthermore, openly stating that wish, on a forum for Miami fans has no effect either.

Quit it with the sanctimony. I wish Tom Brady was dead and have no qualms about it.

Losing Edelman is a negative. It they got a better guy in Cooks who can run the same routes Edelman does and more (deep routes). And if you watch film on Hogan he's pretty damn althletic himself. I was surprised at some moves and cuts of his.

TB is a top quarterback with just Gronk and a bunch of scrubs out wide. If Gronk stays healthy they have more than enough weapons.

It's not sanctimony. Just show some class. You wouldn't want people to be saying that about our players ..... those who do are complete psychos and need to be medicated.

Edelman is a top 5 overrated player in this league. The Patriots won't miss him one bit.

    How is he overrated?

Guy is super productive, has excellent quickness, hands, and toughness, and beats coverage all the time..

Rex burkhead is an interesting skill set in that scheme, I'd watch for him to have a nice year.

I've been telling you for months that Hogan is an athletic freak. You laughed.

Then an insider in the mains said the same thing and you believed him. Lol

He's not even close to being overrated.

I think this type of thinking is another reason believe Brady is the GOAT. There's a misconception that he has scrubs for WR's. He's always had good to great WR's.

    Nope. I watched the film.

Did I laugh st you saying he was athletic? My mistake.

I knew he had deep speed. Only when I rewatched his highlights and saw how shifty he was in the short area did I realize how quick he is. He's not Edelman Cooks. But it was quite impressive.

Despite your belief I keep TB and the Patsies photos on my
    shrine I don't ;)

So I went back and watched all his catches. Losing Edelman can be masked over. But if they lose Gronk too it'll hurt more.

Edelman is not a scrub. He's a midget. Their scrubs were Dobson and Kenbrell Thomkins. Don't tell me they weren't scrubs

Edelman is the same height as Cooks and taller than Welker. He's below average for a WR in regards to height, but he's not short enough to have his height affect his play.

They're all midgets. Cooks just happens to be really fast too. Tyler Lockett is another. The thing Edelman has going for him is elite short area quickness. Not long speed or size or jumping ability.

The point of midgets though, is that they had not have a wide receiver of note except Edelman and a little bit of Amendola. The tall WRs came and went. Even Lafell, etc.

He is good but slightly overrated imo. He gets a lot of targets, and ypt is not elite. He's like 7 ypt, and Landry is 8.6ypt, for example.

Fantasy wise, Cooks value just rocked higher IMO.

Edelman is a scrub... his production would drop so much on any other team that isnt the patriots just like welker did on the broncos.

The fact we didnt make good of the steal we got for welker shows how clueless our prior front offices were. Second round pick for a white midget receiver.

Welker was doing great on the Broncos until he started having injury problems.
