It would not shock me if IT found out about the trade via television.

So apparently the Cavs found a problem in IT's hip when they examined him, and are deciding what to do next. Ainge apparently admitted to knowing about it, and said it was part of the reason they traded him. If this somehow blows this trade up and IT and Crowder have to go back to the Celtics and Cleveland is back to square one with Irving, I will laugh my *** off.

If the Cavs do back out, you have to think Irving's trade necessity goes up and his value goes down. The Celtics would also have two problems: IT being disgruntled about the trade and the fact that his hip was bad enough to reverse a trade.

Crowder also may request a trade if this falls through. He was pissed at Boston fans for cheering Hayward at a home game last season, went to the bench for him, and was deemed expendable. This could end up being a pretty delicious ****show.

lol if they back out of that deal, the cavs and celtics may have just destroyed each other's team unintentionally. That's funny stuff to me.

If Lebron wasn't in the equation, that Brooklyn pick is nice enough to still keep the trade. And Jae Crowder is a nice player to have. But Griffin is trying to have a team that can win a championship so Lebron does not leave and his franchise value won't tank like it did in 2010.

If Lebron leaves, the Cavaliers go from 1 billion to possibly 500-600 instantly.

So, because of that, Griffin will let the doctors do their due diligence and if it looks like IT won't be the same player again, theyll pull the trade off out.

Griffin isn't the GM, but otherwise, I agree.

If Cavs didn't really care about winning they'd clear IT just for the pick and then just let him go next off season, but with LBJ he has to play and be good for this to make sense

Another option could be a renegotiation. I'm not sure how it would be renegotiated, maybe Boston adds another pick or Smart, or something like that, but that would allow both teams to save some face. I'm still crossing my fingers for this whole thing to blow up, though. That would be glorious.

I just love Celtics misery. And it would screw the cavs too because that was a bad overpay they got. They wont sniff a guaranteed lottery and a guy played like an MVP last year (and is at least comparable) for Kyrie...nor should they

The rumor is Cleveland asking exactly that, another asset added into it.

It will be interesting here because the Celtics are in a tough spot. They cannot have this deal fall through. Cleveland has all the negotiating power here, but they may lose value if they have to find another deal for Kyrie. Although, I'd bet there are teams calling them trying to get them to back out.

Cavs are trying to pry Rozier free in the trade now. If Ainge says no, this trade is probably dead. Cavs can't reverse course back to the original trade without looking like crooked and incompetent.

Boston is arguing the cavs knew what they were getting, cavs arguing they didnt know. Boston may try to get adam silver to review the trade.

Both teams look very bad about this transaction. IT does not want to be in Cleveland, does not want to play with Lebron, but he also doesnt trust Boston anymore.

If he failed his physical, I'm not sure you can say they knew what they were getting. They traded for a guy they knew would fail his physical?

Here's hoping that both sides are stubborn enough for this not to work out. Because at this point, that's what it would have to be. Rozier is going to keep this deal from getting made?

So the Cavs are now inquiring about Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum to get the deal done (I'm sure it's either). The Cavs are trying to accelerate what they must believe is a coming rebuild.

Well, that's significantly more value, unless IT isn't going to be part of the trade. If they're set on that, this deal could easily fall apart, because I don't see Boston agreeing to give up either player in addition to the other pieces.

Woj saying that's what Cleveland is asking for, but they might negotiate and accept another pick. He also says that Cleveland is worried about how much time Thomas will miss this season, especially because it's his last under contract, and LeBron could opt out after this year as well. Boston, on the other hand, is saying they were transparent about the injury from the start and Cleveland knew everything.

The whole point of the physical is that you get a chance, in person, to see what you are getting lol. I can't stand the Celtics.

  20. CaribPhin

    CaribPhin Guest

If all it took was for a team to be transparent then what's the point of the physical and why are teams allowed to back out pending physicals?

I don't want to even imagine Boston sports radio this morning. People with that ****ty accent defending Danny Ainge, explaining why Gordon Hayward has more grit than Jae Crowder, and complaining about having to go months since their last championship celebration.

Major props to Rockets' owner, Les Alexander, for donating $10 mil to help victims of the flood. The entire city is giving major props. He will be missed.

Meanwhile, the owner of the biggest church in Houston, Joel Osteen, wouldn't even open up the doors of his megachurch to help victims until the media got on his ###...smh.

I'm not going to turn this into a religious debate... I'm just going to say, Joel Osteen is a multimillionaire pastor, and that is enough for me to call this guy a phony. I'm glad he just got exposed. He lied by saying his church was flooded and can't accept victims, and when they blasted him after finding out his church isn't flooded, he gets taught a lesson by Jesus.

And it's no secret he opened the doors after lots of threats on his donations. This guy is right there next to Scientology in my eyes.. He has used the Bible for his own wealth.

And the Cavs back out of requesting further compensation. If this trade goes through, then they look like they exaggerated what they found while trying to fleece the Celtics for more. They'll have made themselves look like nothing more than crooks, threatening to veto a trade and essentially blow up Boston's chemistry. The best case scenario for fans of all other teams is that it doesn't go through and both teams look silly.

If im the cavs im sticking with the trade. By sticking with the trade youve got a backup plan if Lebron leaves. You have that brooklyn pick, and you have Isaiah's bird rights.

If LeBron leaves, I'm not sure those Bird rights matter much, and even if it does, they may not want to pay him that much. How much is the Brooklyn pick worth? If it's top 2, it could be great. But will it be top 2? I'm not so sure. The east is a joke, and Brooklyn could be improved. They won't be good, but bad teams in the west have a better shot at the worst record, IMO. And even then, there's the lotto. Are you content trading Kyrie Irving and only ending up with a Jalen Brown, Dragan Bender, Jalil Okafor, Aaron Gordon, Victor Oladipo type? Because those are the types of players you could easily end up with in a year. All of those guys were top 5 picks in the last few drafts. Sure, you could end up with a Porzingis, but it could be argued that you're more likely to land a guy in the mold of the former names I listed.

That, combined with the fact that you just made your biggest threat in the east a superstar player is why, if I'm the Cavs, I'm looking for a package including a pick, a young player you already feel good about, and a good vet you can use now.

Lakers fined $500K for tampering with Paul George. There don't appear to be any restrictions on draft picks or in acquiring Paul George in the future.

In other words, this half a million seems like a quality down payment to ensure they get their guy next year and I don't really seeing it being a deterrent.

  34. CaribPhin

    CaribPhin Guest

Every team does it. Magic and his team are just too fresh in the game. It only hurts if you don't get George, which is still a small possibility if the Thunder either perform a miracle and make it to the WCF/Finals or they suck and trade him to a real contender before the deadline (like the Cavs if they want to do something with that Brooklyn pick).

  35. CaribPhin

Dan Gilbert is really bad at being a human being.

I guess it would have been worth it to pay Griffin the league average at GM after winning a championship.

  36. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Magic got a warning for the Jimmy Kimmel stunt. The fine came about due to Rob Pelinka apparently talking to George's agents. Although...I think the Lakers have players that are represented on by the same people. so I am not sure how they proved it, unless something was recorded, witnessed or in written form somewhere.

George seems pretty hellbent on making his way to L.A. Unless OKC somehow is able to topple that GSW monster, it seems pretty certain that PG goes "home".

I am surprised that the league didn't do something drastic and force some sort of block on George signing with L.A. or take a draft pick or something beyond a minimal fine.

This sort of thing is so hard to prove, though. The Kimmel thing was stupid, but not enough to warrant serious punishment. Plus, after the Chris Paul thing, I'm not sure they wanted to make an example of the Lakers again. That, and it's a huge market, and a historic team. If you keep them from getting George, that could conceivably lead to them staying a bad team, whereas George coming to the Lakers, that could open the floodgates.

Melo rumor of the day: It seems like the NYK are after Jabari Parker and picks + expiring(s) for Carmelo. Parker, a 1st (either 2020 from Houston or this year from Milwaukee) and Monroes expiring should do the trick.
Report: Knicks had preliminary talks to land Bucks' Parker in Melo-Rockets trade (via http://thesco.re/theScore_App )
    https://www.thescore.com/news/1366055

You have the right idea Steve Mills, do yo thang! I think someone has been saying the Knicks should be looking for exactly that type of return for months....or just hang to Carmelo and let him opt out after the year if he wants to leave so much. Do not buy him out. Do not take less then that type of return. :shifty:

Sounds good to me. The Rockets don't lose anything except a pick. As long as it gets done before camp. I don't want him after that.
