Anyone have the full story on Timmons yet? I'm withholding any conclusion until I hear what's behind his conduct.

Not likely until well after the game.
There's a separate thread for that.

A family emergency I can understand, other than that.....

Terrible way to start the season, on top of how bad things have been the past week in Florida.

Edit: The silver lining is that I wanted to see Chase Allen in a real game.

Yes, chase only played 13 snaps om defense. But he made the most out of them he played great. Had a 81.5 grade per pff.

Mike hull on the other hand was absolutely horrendous in coverage. He allowed every single ball thrown his way to be completed. He can't cover worth a damn and is too slow.

Chase needs to overtake hull on the depth chart asap. Regardless of wether or not timmons comes back.

I like Chase, dude looks huge in uniform and seems to always be near ball.

Stopping completions isn't always the coverage LB's job. Sometimes they are supposed to allow underneath stuff but prevent 1st downs.

Yeah well he didnt prevent much of anything. He is too slow and cannot keep up with running backs if his life depended on it.

He gets juked out and left behind very easily and doesnt have the speed to recover. He is a tough and smart kid, but he really is too slow to keep up as a starter on defense.

People always come up with the zach thomas comparison, but even zach thomas was faster and quicker than this guy.

He is a liability in coverage and is only decent against the run.

I would put chase allen in there instead of hull asap.

Hull should be a career special teamer imho.

I didnt even know this guy existed in the world and didnt even notice him on the field yesterday, but Mike Hull on the other hand cannot be starting ever again. He is not a good LB.

Hopefully this Allen guy can be good, and he got a really nice grade in limited time according to PFF, but Mike Hull is "jump off the screen" bad. The McMillan injury combined with Misi not being able to return is a real killer. Our LB's have been so bad in coverage for so many years now, hopefully Allen can be decent and Timmons can show up to the game.

I agree 100%. Hull is terrible, he is a decent special teams guy, but horrendous at LB.

Our three best linebackers right now are timmons, kiko and allen. We should be starting allen at mike he did great there in the preseason. Even if he is a rookie he is a lot better than hull.

I think Hull reminds me a lot of a Larry Izzo type of player, but for Allen starting isn't that why this team signed Rey Meauluga?

You mean an undrafted LB, who is a backup, played like he was a backup? Lol... What were you expecting to see?

You're acting like all these guys are plug and play. They aren't.

Also, Allen is an undrafted rookie. You're not throwing him in there at Mike against a team like the Chargers until you know he can make all the calls and handle it. Was absolutely the right decision to play Hull at Mike, given the situation we were in.

Allen played mike with the second and third teams all preseason long and was outstanding. He got progressively better with each game and didnt make any major mistakes.

Definitely has outplayed hull all throughout training camp and preseason. I think he can handle it. Hull definitely is not the answer and maualuga wont be much better if and when he gets healthy and in shape.

I would start allen at mike next game let him get his feet wet with the jets. kiko, chase and timmons should be the starting trio.
