Maxwell and Jones were not good Sunday. Maxwell rarely is, but Jones was disappointing. Not sure what caused it. Overall, I thought our S play is atrocious. Now, SD has good WR and excellent TEs...I would put Gates and Henry top five in the NFL as a combo, but still, very little impact from the Dbacks.

I am 50/50 on Xavien as a #1 CB. I don't see him taking anyone out of the game or cutting the field in half. I hope Verner and Tankersley can develop in this offense quickly, because we play some teams that can really throw the ball. As of right now, I don't think this secondary is competent. Hopefully that changes soon.

At LB, I liked Chase Allen more than Hull yesterday. Kiko was okay.

I thought the Dline was outstanding. Suh was very good, Hayes and Branch were solid, and Godchaux and Harris did okay, considering. I really wish Phillips could play up to his talent level. Wake wasn't great, but that could be because of the Chargers scheme.

I thought the Guards, and interior Oline outplayed the tackles. Tunsil, IMO, is just average--nothing at all special about him. Steen and Bushrod did ok. Jesse Davis got some snaps. Oline was not really a liability. That's a great thing.

The WRs were ok. I would expect more from them. I do think the playcalling let them down. I don't understand end arounds with Landry. Its not like you need to find ways to get him the ball. He gets open, you can throw the ball to him 5-7 yards downfield. Why hand him the ball when even if you fool the defense, he doesn't have speed to break it?

Gase wasn't great as OC. Julius Thomas? Who?

Ajayi was great. He broke tackles, played hard, ran with a purpose, unfortunately it didn't rub off on others. I think we are lucky to leave there with a W.

Good news...many extenuating adverse circumstances for this team--and they found a way to win. Jay Cutler's first game--first time playing with this offense, first time Gase having it all together and they got a win. A win is a win is a win...a road win, a conference game--that is excellent.

There is A LOT to clean up. Another road game, in the division. They need to play better to be victorious Sunday.

But right now, they are 1-0 and leading the division. Good for them.

When called upon, the WR's produced. They were as advertised, Landry was targeted 15 times, mostly short, Stills was the deep TD threat and Parker was the Moss-like WR. Not sure how many times Landry can be productive on the bubble screens. Very proud of the run defense. That was the Achilles heal. If we can generate a decent pass rush, the pass defense will be better. My biggest concern after this game were the LB's and play calling on offense. I suspect they will open things up, but we need Timmons back badly. It's safe to say that Maualuga, if healthy, should play too. Rivers was clean, and with the rotation of guys we have at DE, not being able to generate a pass rush is going to be very bad for the defense, esp with no LB's.

Why is everyone down on the team? We just beat a team that barely lost to what looks like the best team in football after a hurricane and with a rookie undrafted LB who up until today wasn't even supposed to play. They are going to crush the Jets next week. You could tell in the first half that they were rusty but they came on in the second half against a pretty good team. Defense did well playing an elite QB with Backup Linebackers. I fully expect us to crush the jets and given the circumstances that led up to yesterdays game I'm happy with the results. We shut down there running game and that was our weakness last season. They had o yards for most of the first half of the game. They held them to 17 points. Parker made some great catches, Stills looked good and Landry was Landry. Cutler played great too. We could have lost but didn't and that's all that matters to me.:woot:
