It was at least 3 people actually.

And it was absolutely irrational to call for his being cut since none of the people calling for that know the story.

About 20 years ago, I witnessed my brother have a panic attack. He never had one prior and he hasn't had another since. He bolted for his car and was trying to get into the driver's side when I tackled and restrained him. Scared the crap out of me. I sure hope the guy's alright.

I had one in my life and it wasn't pretty, it was brought about by extreme stress. I just hope Timmons is ok.

Someone reported that he called the mother of his child and said he was going to fly to PA to see the kid that night. Sounds like he either thought his baby momma (or possibly her current boyfriend) was a threat to his kid or else he's having mental health issues.

    LOL. sanctimonious much?

Speaking for myself, my concern with every player is how it relates to the team. to suggest that spoiled athlete millionaires need us to care about their well being is...childish. im certain all 53 players on the team have heartaches, heartbreaks, pain, regrets, etc in their lives. i tune for three hours on Sunday to watch them play football. i cannot, nor can any of you, help the mentally ill ones calm their demons.

To self righteously claim moral superiority because you wont "jump to conclusions" about a player whose only value to us is that he plays football is absurd. If that is the case, then where is the care for all of the other mentally ill people in the state, and around the country who are suffering? Why don't you care for them? Are they not good enough for you? Are only athletes important? None of youve ever met Timmons or know him.

Dude has one thing about him that concerns me...that he plays LB for my favorite team. when his actions detract from that team, i dont want him around any longer.

They kind of need him though.

I'm pretty sure he didn't quit on the team. It sounds like he had a bad moment.

He's been in the a league awhile and AFAIK he has no record of him quitting on his team

I'm guessing some serious baby mama drama by the sound of it. Maybe his kid was sick or the bm was trying to do something crazy w them.

Not ready to hang the guy after he's been a complete professional his entire career.

It is not irrational for a guy going AWOL the night before the first game of the season to be cut. The dolphins had to file multiple missing persons reports because he just left. Nothing is irrational about cutting that. Like I said, if he were just a special teams guy he'd have been cut already.

Gotta say the media guys seem to be spinning this. This last comment came at the end, was an obvious 'undercover' attempt to get some sort of last comment from Gase on the Timmons issue and he basically just said nothing.

The only thing that came from Gase in the presser was that he has no comment at this time. That's it. The rest is baiting or spinning.

To bad it isn't the cable news... they'd all have their own versions of reality (all different) and we could hear several versions of the individuals reporters views and pick the one you like.....non being factual at all...lol...The world is just so friggin insane...

Maybe he was kidnapped by the Russians..!!!!!
    Hey its Trumps fault lol

I also tell ya Gase is more secretive than our FBI & CIA...which really isn't saying much, I guess...

"The Dolphins are unsure what the issue is with Timmons, but one league source said he does not believe it is the early onset of CTE. 'No one has ever seen anything like it" some anonymous person was quoted as saying in an ESPN article.'

Seems like we still don't really know much, though I agree with people speculating that it may be a mental health issue. I have to say, it seems silly to describe a football team as a family, even if the team describes itself as such. Families don't get rid of nearly half their members every August, or throw people out of the family once they start to slow down a little. I'm selfish enough to be glad to think Timmons may recover from this and be able to play for the Fins; I assumed he was done for good.

You obviously have your priorities completely screwed up if all you care about is how a particular player plays on any given gameday, rather than the mental health of that player. The fact you care nothing about what might have caused Timmons to act in the manner he did, when he has no history of this type of behavior, says a lot more about you than it does about Timmons.

If Gase and the rest of the members of the Dolphins organization are willing to gather all the facts before making a determination regarding Timmons, I certainly will abide by any decision the organization takes in this matter.

The reality is that if Timmons was as distraught as was being reported, the last place he needed to be was on a football field yesterday.

Looks like he was with the team Sunday morning, so he showed up for work and they said no, you need the day off.

That should end the head hunt at least. Sounds like the man needs a little help, let him get it.

how many times are you going to try and subtly make this political btw?

    for some unknown reason.

mental illness sucks. depression and anxiety suck. you dont know what hes going through, so its ill advised to make light of it until the mam speaks for himself if he decides he wants to or can.

I don't see how his post was political at all but hey I'm a political atheist.

In Regards to Timmons: Despite reports suggesting that Timmons will return to the Dolphins and, presumably, everything will continue as if nothing happened, the Dolphins have made no decisions about what to do with Timmons, who signed a two-year, $12 million deal with a $5.5 million signing bonus earlier this year and a whopping $11 million fully guaranteed at signing.

It would be unwise to cut Timmons over the incident, given the sizable guarantee. They could, at most, suspend him four games without pay for conduct detrimental to the team, which would wipe out all future guarantees and permit recovery of a portion of the signing bonus. They then could cut him, if that’s what the organization decides to do.

I'd suspend him for the Jets game to send a message, but lets be honest:

Do you really want him suspended for Saints, Titans, Falcons (Next 3 games) if he's ok and ready to rock?

Impossible to say what will come down on Timmons since we don't know any of the facts what so ever. But the guy is our best and important Vet. LB a position of great need and if there is any way sweeping this incident under the rug I think we will see some of Gases expertise in this area with very little made public...( Gase is not saying much of anything now and he knows what went down I'm sure ). Unless whatever really came down is just to horrendous to cover up .... But I'd be shocked if he was released or traded away, the need is just to great... JMO

Whether Timmons get cut or not comes down to one question.
Does his value exceed his problems?
Now if this was a fringe player, yeah he definitely would have been cut by now. However, as a highly paid FA starter he gets more slack than a scrub, especially as all the reports from training camp have been positive about him.

So we have a pretty good idea of what his value is.
The issue is we don't know (a) what the problem is, (b) whether it will affect Timmons in the future and (c) the effect of this incident and resulting discipline will have on other players.

I would suggest that if it is a situation that other players have some sympathy for (for example: serious threat of harm to his child) and that situation is resolved then basically it will be a rap over the knuckles with a stern "don't go off without telling the team" lecture. However if it is a situation that other player will have less sympathy for and has the potential to recur (for example: the baby momma being histrionic a la Miko Grimes) then discipline will be more severe with a suspension for several games.

I don't see the Dolphins actually cutting Timmons because another team will sign him for the rest of the season. So an indefinite suspension for the rest of the year and an offseason cut would be the most severe punishment. That I can only imagine happening if it was a trivial incident.

I assume the sequence of events goes something like:
    - Timmons gets a phone call
    - He makes a decision that he needs to be physically with his baby momma and child immediately.
    - He thinks (a) this is such an emergency that he can't slow down and tell the Dolphins or (b) that if he tells the Dolphins they will prevent him from traveling
    - The Dolphins realize he is missing.
    - He goes to the airport and gets found.

The fact that it has been two days now and no one has publicly commented on his reasons makes me suspect some form of child endangerment. If it was illness of his child then there is no need for secrecy. If it has to do with a minor explanation then the reason would have leaked out already, because no one would respect confidentiality or privacy issues. The only scenario that comes to my mind that fits the known facts as I understand them is that there was some kind of threat to his child, although it remains to be seen what the truth is.
