Dolphins -6 over Jets Over/Under 43 - So the score would be 28 - 16. An interesting line is the Bills/Broncos. Broncos -3 - I thought that would have been higher. Pats - 13.5 over Houston, 2 TD spread.
-6 spread.. my prediction (and bet) with aesop from Sunday was basically what Vegas agreed with! (posts 5 and 6) https://thephins.com/threads/1st-place.91829/ Also.. if Over/Under is 43 and spread is -6, then the expected score is 24.5-18.5, not 28-16.
Dude.. in your opening post you said this: That is false. If you want total points = 44 AND a -6 points spread, there is only ONE solution, and that's 25-19.
Sorry. I didn't state was going to be over the spread. I was being optimistic in having a higher score. But 25+19 and 28+16 both equal 44. LoL
Miami has no business not scoring over 30 and allowing more than 14. We have graduated from the Jets being competitive to straight out blow out
This is an ideal game for a blowout. The Jets are arguably worse than last year and our biggest blowout under Gase was against the Jets last year: 34-13. On the other hand, this team (even under Gase) rarely blows teams out so we still have to prove it. So far out of 10 wins with Gase, we've won only two by more than 7 points. In any case, the most important thing is to win regardless of the score and it would be shocking to me if we lost. I'm really looking forward to Ajayi getting possibly 200+ yards against the league worst run defense (185 rushing yards per game given up). I think I'll be paying as much attention to that as the game itself haha.
In spite of who has a good or bad team the Dolphin/Jet game are usually competitive. I'll go with Dolphins by 7.
Thanks for the compliment dj haha! But this one doesn't require much math. Let's say one team scores X points and the other scores Y points, with Y=X+6 because the spread is 6 in favor of Y. If you want total points scored to be (let's say) 44, then that means X+Y = 44, which after substituting Y=X+6 is equivalent to X+(X+6) = 44, which when solved gives you X = 19. And if X = 19, then by definition Y=X+6=25. So 25-19 is the only possibility.
Our pass defense is not overly inspiring to say we'd definitely be at 14 or less, but I see no reason we don't score 30+ if Gase decides to set the offense loose. I'd predict around 34-17. In any case, the 6 point spread is a little silly. The Jets may actually go 0-16 this season.
I love Cutler...LOVE Cutler..... But he has a tendency to change games with his mistakes. It's still the NFL and if you throw pick 6's you are likely to lose. Dolphins will be traveling West to East and on the road in an unfriendly environment. I think we win, but if its a FG game I won't be stunned.
I say Miami losses and 13 of 15 games the dogs cover the spread or win........take that to the bank!!!
