That game clearly shows that he is not better than Tannehill, not even on the same level with Tannehill we coulda have won he is all around better. Maybe some people appreciate Tannehill now...
No doubt it was a bad performance but it is still early and let's see how he does in the next few games.
I thought after last week he could have been an upgrade on Tannehill from the perspective of not being inept against pressure in his face, but Cutler is horrible. No accuracy.
He looked like he was mentally not sharp.. almost like he had smoked too much weed or so lol (Cutler would never ever do that right??)
First of all, today doesn't mean he's the answer or not. Secondly, lots and lots of people thought he was the answer. Lastly, the longterm answer is and always be Thill.
He had horrible footwork and no zip on his passes,we gonna get destroyed by the Saints if we play like today
Tannehill or no Tannehill, this team wouldn't win more than 5-6 games against the teams they play this year. The OL and the defense are below average and Tannehill isn't good enough to make up for the deficiencies of these units.
Puhleaze....Thill just doesn't have games like that very often. Once he got Gase's offense, he was, in fact, a Top 10 QB in the league. That is not arguable.
Lots of season left to play. Not a good sign for our W-L record if Gase can't get things turned around in London.
Yeah, I dont think he was meant to ever be the answer. He's just... the best option available for us after losing Tannehill. There's clearly some rust there in his mechanics, and some miscommunications between him and the WR's. It will likely get worked out, but I dont think that means we're going to light it up out there with him either If the OL can't get itself performing though, it's not going to matter who's under center... just like las tyear.
That was horrible. Overall... horrible. I knew it would be close, but I thought we’d win. What a let down...
Unfortunately it wasn't even close. Close I could respect, being a divisional rival and all, but we got bullied most of the day.
The Jets were playing inspired football, no doubt. I kind of have to wonder if he came back throwing fastballs too quickly. Footwork or not, guys like Cutler and Favre always had the knack for getting the ball there. But some of those passes thrown today weren't even close! I think he may be hiding an injury. I think last year, he played 5-6 games with that injured shoulder, which was a partially torn labrum. Shoulders are finicky. Hope this isn't the case, but this is what I'm thinking. Surgery was last December. It hasn't been that long.
We are going to have the opportunity to pick an elite quarterback in the draft! I hope we get it right!
I hope he isn't, but we go from all fastballs all of the time to this. He may not be hurt, but many of his throws were not only off, but lacked that velocity we're use to seeing from him. This tells me he is either injured or has some kind of arm fatigue. I can't imagine that he was throwing much anyway prior to being signed. Bad technique or not, guys like that don't all of a sudden forget how to throw. Some were right there. But a good many were very bad. I cannot discount arm fatigue or an injury. Not yet, anyway.
Cutler's passes were "off" last week too. Even the TD to Stills was off, he just nabbed it, but he missed 2 other TDs last week to Landry and Parker with his bad accuracy. We wrote that off as lack of chemistry and "rust" after not playing for most of a year. This game, his placement was even worse. So bad that the WRs and backs couldn't bail him out. They were either high and hard, or low and into the dirt. Most of it was a lack of him setting his feet and firing. I know the OL was struggling, but he looked jumpy. Even when he made plays in the pocket to buy time, he wasn't setting up. The problem with Cutler though, is that this has been his MO his entire career. He can still turn this season around, but it starts with him fixing his mechanics. My biggest fear with him was the "fk it and chuck it" he was doing today along with the piss poor decisions that has also plagued his career. That decision to fastball a pass over the middle that was an INT instead of picking up the 2 yards in front of him was inexcusable. That's just a stupid play and for a 12 year vet, idiotic. Hoping Gase tells Jay that he still loves him, then gets him some chocolate and a bubble bath and they start over afresh next week in London...
Cutler nor Tannehill is the answer. We are in free fall without one. Gase will be lucky to go 500 this season. We should be tanking it for a franchise QB. Gase seems lost the last two weeks to me. Horrible play calls and lack of accountability. Cutler should have been benched today. Coaching and defense was horrible! McCown looks like Brady!
The defense was bad again same as last week, we need help at corner and our linebackers are getting victimized in coverage. The jets did their homework and brought the pressure on cutler, thats why he was jumpy and out of rythm most of the time. Last week he was better because he wasnt pressured as much.
Defense was decent... if the offense would stay on the field and move the chains i dont think the jets score more than 13 points. But they cant stay on the field and there needs to be a balance. If we are expecting the defense to win the game with the offense not being able to reach the endzone all day then youre asking too much.
Cutler is afraid of contact and frequently throws off his back foot which leads to inaccuracy. He looks done to me.
Defense looked decent because we played against a clown named McCown. Wait until we play hall of famer Drew Brees next week, he's going to kill us.
Aaaand the idiots gonna idiot. Did no one watch the game? If you think Tannehill would've won this game today, you haven't watched the Dolphins the last 5 years. This was a collective **** show.
That's what I'm saying. I was walking around Philly yesterday, and it was insanely hot for late September. We're hitting record monthly highs up here in the NE. Now, the heat in general shouldn't be an excuse for a team from Miami, but it certainly didn't help on top of the TOP being so lopsided. The offense has to give the defense a little bit of time to catch their breaths.
Tannehill is the answer, would have won the game and is the best quarterback we've had since Dan Mairno.
Based on what? He may have played better, but we have seen VERY little evidence of Ryan overcoming that bad of OL play. Not to mention, Landry sucked *** and killed drives. No. Tannehill wouldnt have made a difference. Not many QB's would've infact.
I agree. Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore ain't the answer answer either. I want to go ALL IN for the top QB prospect in next year's draft. #1 on OUR CHART. Whatever it takes, go get him.
I would be interested in a break down of plays by "Jumpy Jay" showing the throws where he set up correctly vs his back foot/jump shot throws (and possibly the results)... I can't ever recall a game where a QB seemed to hoop shot so many passes. @cbrad @danmarino
I don't think anyone could say with confidence that Tannehill would have won the game. I think he would have played better. Sometimes that can be enough to light a spark under the rest of the team. If we are saying that Tannehill would have won even if the rest of the team continued to play incompetent football, then I would disagree. I expected we would have this game by Jay eventually, its what he does. He will also come out and have a couple of great games, cause that's what he does that keeps him employed. I just hope we don't have the constant pendulum of "better then Ryan" to "Worse then Ryan" discussion here in the forums. The truth is he was just the Dolphins trying to make the best out of a bad situation.
Cutler did not play well but the offensive line played worse.I don't remember many clean pockets to work with today.
The Dolphins should have the opportunity to draft one of the top QB's in next years draft because they will likely get a top five pick. With all the needs they have on the offensive line, TE, LB's, DL, and in the secondary, it is going to take at least two more successful drafts and possible three drafts to fill these needs. The Dolphins should look to draft a QB in the first round and start building the team around this new QB. Coming off a major knee injury, the Dolphins should see what trade value Tannehill has once he recovers.I just don't see Tannehill being the answer at the QB position by the time the Dolphins rebuild this team to be a legitimate SB contender. Of course as long as Tannebaum is running football operations, I don't see this team ever having the talent base to be a SB contender. He just doesn't know how to build a quality football team IMO.
