I've said it before and I'll say it again and again and again...ANYONE can beat ANYONE on any given Sunday! I was critical about the Dolphins returning to Miami following the Chargers game, saying the Dolphins needed to fly straight to New York and get ready for that game and I was ridiculed. Those who ridiculed me said the Jets sucked, that it was an easy win and didn't want to hear anything about "any given Sunday". This team has had WAAAAAAY too many distractions this season... -Losing Tannehill -Signing Cutler out of retirement -Hurricane Irma -Losing the bye -Lawrence Timmons My apologies for my lack of sympathy but there were many times I was overseas that I wished I could have come home to attend to personal matters but duty called...and I'm not a millionaire. Gase needs to drop the hammer on this team...including himself.
You are absolutely correct! No effort today at all! Distractions distractions distractions! But they are pro athletes. We were torn apart by a journeyman QB today. Not looking forward to Brees next week.
I feel like having a knee jerk reaction but I honestly feel we lucked out last week or were 0-2 we have a touch schedule and our defense looks worse than last year at any point IMHO. I am now saying we’re basically a 500 team at best. If that’s the case we need to just cave and get a real QB for the franchise or Gase will be run out of town in 3 years.
Sorry for the hyperbole, but that was like the 1976 Tampa Bay Bucs on offense, for anyone who's old enough to remember that. No one could block, no one could catch, no one could throw. Not fair to Ajayi to say no one could run, but if you're getting hit five yards behind the line it doesn't matter if you're OJ Simpson crossed with Emmett Smith.
The Jets showed the blueprint to the Dolphins remaining opponents on how to beat them. They just have to stack the defense to stop the run and then force Cutler to beat them with the pass. It was obvious today that Cutler is not capable of leading this team to victory if the opposing defense stops our running game. As far as attacking the Dolphins defense is concerned. All the opposing teams need to do is throw the football on every down and they will have success against this defense. Because there is no one in the secondary or in the LB unit who can cover the receivers or running backs.
It's hard to gauge the defense at this point. One thing I hate about it, though, is getting gouged on those ****ing seam routes! It has to end!
As bad as the defense has been, alllowing 20 or less the last two weeks is respectable. Run defense is a lot better. This offense is struggling to score 20 a week. We were fooled about the prowess of this offense. We dont have the offense to keep up w the Saints next week. This sounds funny, but we need to rely on the defense.
this offense is poorly led and poorly coached. i dont know who will make the decision on the future of the franchise, but there is alot to consider. Bill Lazor today looks way better than anyone on our staff. Maybe he was better then what he was able to show because of the head coach while he was here! Regardless, what we saw today can not continue... at least in my opinion!
After the Jets went ahead 20-0, they just tried to run out the clock instead of trying to score more points. The reality is that they were basically able to go up and down the field at will and there was nothing about the Dolphins offense which led them to believe they needed to score more than 20 points. If you haven't realized yet that this defense is perhaps the worst in the NFL, the game next week against the Saints should make it quite clear to you.
How many times did I say in the offseason that it was going to be the defense...and Matt Burke that was going to determine our season? Thus far, my fears are coming true. Two games and we've had what, 1 turnover? 2 quarterbacks throw over 300 yards?
Nah. Jets had a whole quarter on us when it came to Time of Possession. We were 1 for 12 on 3rd down. The offense couldn't spell the defense at all, hard to gauge a defense when they're totally gassed. They hadn't given anything except a long touchdown pass, from a hamstrung Alterraun Verner, before the half. They ran out of steam in the 3rd quarter while we couldn't even get a field goal.
It was team loss. The Fins are a franchise in turmoil. Bad on offense, bad on defense. I don't know if they win more than 3 or 4 games. Things will have to be drastically different than they were today. Offensively, I don't think Cutler has it in him, honestly. I could see him retiring the same way Arian Foster did last year after 5-6 games. Let's face it...its not going to fun for him this week. And after Drew Brees and the Saints hand it to them in London, its going to get VERY uncomfortable. Cutler might want to reconsider broadcasting.
I agree the offense is terrible. Yet the defense the past two weeks has shown that it is incapable of defending the pass. Except for the Chargers kicker missing two very easy kicks last week, the Dolphins should be 0-2. If this game today had been against a quality opponent and the Dolphins had lost the way they did, it might have been more understandable. Yet this was the Jets and the Jets are a bad team which clearly dominated an inferior Dolphin team. There just doesn't appear to be the talent on the roster to contend with the better teams in the league. With a subpar Cutler and a bottom tier defense, I don't see this team winning more than 3 or 4 games this year with the schedule they have remaining.
