This game was Adam Gase's Dave Wannstedt moment. I remember after we lost to the Jets after leading 30-7...I knew Wanndstedt was done. But he had led us to the playoffs his first year so he had some good will built up. I knew he was done. I knew he was
    not the answer.

I was given all kinds of grief..."its just one game." "We can recover". "You don't improve if you change coaches like that." "Calm down, relax, chill." "Quit being so reactionary." Anything that you can imagine, I was told. As a matter of fact, there was as much outrage to me saying that as there was to us blowing the lead and losing the game. To some posters, I was the problem. I remember being congratulated for having the worst post ever...I think that was actually rekindled by someone here yesterday...LOL.

I imagine there will be some of that here with Gase. He's got good will and he's still popular. Maybe it will work out differently, but in my mind, I cannot imagine it. Nothing he's done after watching the game yesterday lends me to believe he is the answer.

In the end, we held on to him way to long and it put this team in a long term downward spiral.

I feel the same way now about Gase. He cannot recover from this...at least not in the foreseeable future.

Now I know that our owner loves him. Perhaps he should kick Gase upstairs, make him a special assistant/advisor, get him some experience, and then in 3-4 years, let him try coaching again. Right now, he's going to get this franchise stuck in the toilet where it has been since Wannstedt.

Ok. Some things never change. LOL.

This is exactly the same kind of sentiment I was getting when I was critical of Wannstedt. Everyone likes to act like they opposed him from the get-go, but its not true. There were the Highexaulted and Gardenheads of the world that were defending him by insulting others who questioned his fitness for the job.

Peace to you, High Ex, and to Gardenhead...we'll see who is right come December.

I remember when Jimmy Johnson had that Dave Wannstedt game back in 89 for Dallas. 1st game of the season and come out and lose 28 to 0. How does that happen, he literally had all preseason to focus on that game. Then he followed it up week 3 with a 30 to 7 loss, man that guy was a bum... wonder whatever happened to him...

I'm kidding of course, I understand being down on Gase right now. However, as I stated in another post when a young coach loses his starting QB before the season starts, bad things happen.

What this will tell us by the end of the season, is if this coach can work around the obvious obstacles and give us some good competitive games.

If you were unsure about Gase this is pretty much the definition of "trial by fire". We should have a pretty good idea what Gase is at this stage of his career.

this could be as simple as a personnel issue. We all know that the OL and LB's sucked. this could be the effect of it

Maybe we can sign John Harbaugh. After yesterdays terrible performance by the Ravens I'm sure he'll be fired by this afternoon. Rightfully so I might add.

I wish I could thank this post... but for a different reason. I want to thank it because it teaches me a lesson. The lesson is to never come on here Monday morning after a bad loss and expect logical posts. I should know this by now. Your take on this team and its coach is COMPLETE HOT GARBAGE. You are too emotional and need to take a step back. Gase wont recover from this? WOW. I think you should be nominated for worst post of the day and biggest knee jerk reactor after the game. We had a real good season after a tough start last season, make the playoffs. We go through numerous hurdles, that could cripple most teams, this season. We sit at 1-1. But we make a proclamation, that he is not the answer. Someone before said it right, Should change your name to REDWHINE, fits perfectly.

Wanny was convinced that Jay Fielder was the answer at QB. That was his downfall. Gase is smart enough to change things up if it is not working. Let's see how Gase responds through the rest of the year -and how the team responds to his coaching.

Your take is not hot garbage...its just your take. I understand you dont agree with my opinion.

i do find it ironic that people accept the disappointing result of a game and excuse, rationalize, deal with it in measured terms. however, they dont deal with dissenting opinions with measured terms.

The game wasn't hot garbage, the play calling wasn't hot garbage, the QB wasn't hot garbage...but my post was hot garbage. The loss to the lowly Jets is acceptable but the opinions about the loss to the lowly jets are not. just interesting, thats all.

No one said the loss was acceptable, no one. I never have a problem with dissenting opinions, just ones that are a bit of an over reaction. Your conclusion after a bad game that Gase is just about done is silly. Peoples reaction to your comment should really tell you that. The jump you made to that conclusion was hot garbage. Not your passion(unquestioned) about this team or your football IQ. I have to apologize if my comments to you were harsh...I sat in that stadium yesterday, sweated my *** off, drove home in tons of traffic, surrounded by Jet fans. My frustration burst reading your Gase comments. While I think you are COMPLETELY off, you are also a PHINS fan, needing to vent after that debacle. Phins up RED!

No one is going to take you serious when you make a post after the second game of the season and say "He sucks and he sucks and that guy sucks and this guy sucks, trade everyone, fire the coach and that other guy also sucks too."

    Simple as that.

Well, perhaps I'm in the minority but I knew from Jumpstreet that Wannstadt was not the answer at head coach.

Gase is nothing like Dave Wannstadt. Gase will get it figured out, he is far smarter than that other guy.

No one should take me serious. I have as much influence on the Dolphins as I do the situation in N. Korea or who wins a reality singing show.

We've won 10 of the last 12. The Dolphins have been homeless for three weeks. We traveled more in the past 2 1/2 weeks than most teams will this ENTIRE SEASON. Our best linebacker already crumbled under the pressure. The team said that practice this past week stunk due to the travel, the distractions, the circumstances. Every single week has been a short week as well with 2 days of travel involved.

And all this combined means that Gase is done? I have a lot of respect for you but that's pure nonsense. Cutler played horrible. The defense played even worse. That's why we lost. And guess what? The Dolphins were on a plane the entire day yesterday, arriving in the middle of the afternoon and then wasting all of today adjusting. That makes this our 3rd very short week in 3 weeks.

For ANY TEAM, their odds of winning this week should be close to zero....that doesn't mean Gase has lost the team or whatever else the doomsday prophecies are saying. It means we had a ****ty schedule to begin with, Irma made it even worse, and our team is not getting in the necessary reps under the collective bargaining BS. In years past, you would have a few 10 hour practices to make up for the lost time....not anymore though. In today's NFL you just suck it up and make the best of it. You lose two of your four practice days? Oh well, you're likely taking a L....just get over it.

Realistically, we should lose our next two to four games...just like any average NFL team would do. This travel schedule is BRUTAL and it's why Ross tried to cancel the London trip. The NFL said no so all we can do is grin and bear it. That great practice we so desperately need? It won't happen until Wednesday night at the earliest, which is Thursday in London. We get a second practice Friday and a walkthru on Saturday- that's it. We need a miracle despite jet lag, time zone shifts, not being home in three weeks and only practicing half the time of other teams.

Make no mistake, if we do win this Sunday, it's basically against all odds. And if that happens, Gase is still in the running for Coach of the Year honors. He has not lost this team and he is not done- he's simply had his *** kicked by all this travel just like every other player on the team.
