    Not for one second.

Reality struck him in the face in the week leading up to opening weekend and then his true colors came out.

Look, we don't know what the guy went through, what's still going on and how it will effect him down the road. It's obvious he doesn't want to talk about it either, and if was just a normal goof up then the coaches would say so. This is something very personal and it pains him...it almost has to be kid/family related and the guy temporarily lost it.

I can remember when my oldest kid got in a bad car wreck last year- I dropped everything and drove like a maniac to get to the scene. Is that even remotely logical? Nope. But that's what parents do and we don't judge them for that. So until we hear otherwise, I think Timmons deserves a pass here.

Anyway, the only way to know if he's happy to be here is what he produces on the field this Sunday. Will he bring the intensity? Will he take back that leadership role? If so, this will quickly be forgotten. My bigger question is if he will actually start or come off the bench- we need him on he field ASAP.

I have to say I do care..no way of telling but if I could read minds and his heart wasn't in it, then I'd move on..

However, some players can play hard for the money right.

If I were a reporter I would have asked him if he was happy to be here.

TBH I think he was told to say he was happy to be back and he is basically making a mockery of the whole press mess (which he created). I think he would rather be a Steeler if reports were true, which they aren't always. Putting that together with the reports in the summer that he was leading in the locker room by getting on the teammates about effort, I would say he has seen it done right on a championship team for 10 years and probably sees the Dolphins as a different animal and regrets his decision to come here. However, I would expect him to play hard to make sure he can get on another solid team soon.

The great thing is....we will know very soon. If hes happy where hes at....he will bring his A game on Sunday. If hes not...he likely wont.

What little did come out in regards to Timmons at the time is that he was at the airport and wanted to fly back to Pennsylvania to see his daughter and his daughter's mother. Without knowing more than that, I tend to think that the issue was in regards to something involving his family in Pennsylvania and not because he was unhappy being a Miami Dolphin.

Obviously he would probably be happier playing closer to where his family is but many players
play with in one area, while their families remain in another area during the season. Gase obviously feels that Timmons has worked out whatever his issue was. That is enough for me to believe that Timmons will be a Dolphin for the remainder of this season and hopefully in 2018, if he plays as effectively this season as he did when he was with the Steelers.

More like Gase is desperate to fix the LB issues even after being slapped in the face the way he was by Timmons going AWOL.

Let's be real here - if we were fine at LB we would've suspended him for the max 4 games and then cut him afterwards to get his 2018 money off the books.

Couldn't care less what he feels to be honest.

Bottom line, we'll see for sure with how he plays on Sunday. If he plays like himself, then it doesn't matter if he's happy or not, because it will tell me he's playing hard regardless.

If he's mailing it in... then I'd cut the guy, find out for sure if he was on field at a Pitt practice, and I'd come after him for whatever I can, and I'd go after the Steelers for "tampering" as well, because if they allowed him on their practice field while he's a member of our team, they shouldn't be able to escape the possible punishments there either.

Then if I'm the Dolphins, I'd go public with EXACTLY what went down that day. If he indeed "screwed" us over because of his almost guaranteed contract situation, then I'd go public with what happened, especially if it's damning to his character, and I'd do what I can to attempt the blackball the guy from ever playing again.

I've also had half a bottle of wine and some scotch tonight, so I'm maybe being a bit extreme.

Bottom line though, if he's going to act like, and play like he doesn't want to be here, I'd do whatever I can to make sure he doesn't play again anywhere.

Fully agree with that last part...

i dont care if he isnt happy here either , just play, and if you dont want to play, youre not going to do to us what blount did to pittsburgh, youre gonna ride the bench all season in street clothes.

I know that when I go to work, if I don't perform and do my job half assed, I could be written up, suspended or even fired. NONE of these NFL players are any different. You're an employee...worse, with free agency, you're contractors and if you don't perform you can easily be replaced.

I find this demand by fans for loyalty from players a little bizarre.

First of all, the franchises are not, in anyway, loyal to the vast majority of the players. Think about it, why the hell is Timmons even on the team and not the Steelers? Did they have the loyalty to him to pay him market value? No of course not.

Secondly, how many of us are loyal to our jobs now or at least have had jobs they weren't loyal too in the past?

Look, I'm all for doing the job you have...but loyalty is earned and the teams do not earn loyalty form the players.

If the team is supposed to pay you 12 million, then they will find ways to pay your 9 million instead.

    Stop.

I am not saying they shouldn't go to work and do their job to the best of their ability. i didn't imply it either.

I am talking about one thing and one thing only...loyalty. All i said was that it is bizarre to ask for loyalty from players since the teams have no loyalty to them. Nothing you're ranting about argues that at all.

Hopefully we'll see a guy who hits the field and something switches on and he finds a way to channel all this turmoil into something on the field. It all hinges on how he comes out and responds. And if he does have a positive showing, who knows where it goes from there.

I spent nearly 10 years in the Marine Corps. When I decided to get out I was happy as hell!

About 3 months out I missed it. lol....I missed the guys. I missed the camaraderie. I missed some of the things I thought I HATED.

Him being homesick, missing his friends/teammates, daughter, etc has nothing to do with any of this. The fact that some got so upset that he visited them is crazy. No one here knows what happened and only a few of us here know what MIGHT of happened.

Him going "AWOL" is absurd. It is not life altering like beating your wife/kids, killing someone, or driving drunk, etc. is.

He is getting paid $12 mil to play for the Dolphins. Yes, he should honor that contract. Expecting him to give his soul to the Dolphins is absurd. lol

I don't think it's about a demand for loyalty. Well, at least maybe not in that sense for me anyways.

I see it as Timmon's signed a contract here. It's a 2 year deal. It's about 90% guaranteed. So, come in, play it, and move on. I get it, teams aren't loyal to the players either as they terminate contracts early, or are unwilling to renegotiate and give players raises when they're out performing those deals but that's not the case here to me. This is a guy who's nearing the end of the line in his career and it's likely his last deal, and it's likely that since the guaranteed portion is so high, we weren't planning on cutting ties with him until he had to pull this stunt.

I get where you're coming from though Fin, players have a point there, and that's why we see holdouts. If Player A is out performing his rookie deal there's no way the team will rip it up and pay him more; it's pretty rare anyways. However, if Player A is underperforming compared to his second deal that's likely overpaying him for his production, the team obviously doesn't hesitate to rip up that deal and cut him. So, I get where you're coming from, no doubt.

I just don't see that applying here. At this point the Dolphins have shown him plenty of loyalty with the deal we gave him, he's given us nothing in return. NOTHING. To me, that's where this particular fan is demanding loyalty from mr. Timmons. Its pretty simply, if you didn't want to be here, why sign the deal? You signed it, now show up and play under it.

Who is demanding he give his soul?

The expectation is to be professional which means not cavorting with your former team at their practice leading into Week 1 and then hanging out in their locker room up until game time. All of which was further inflamed by going AWOL the night before your first game with your new team who gave you a contract with quality guaranteed money.

It's a bad look. In any other professional environment you're likely getting axed, especially with the clear-cut lack of genuine remorse.
