We extended kiko, branch, mcdonald and jones on defense. And none of them are earning it so far. Kiko and branch are way overpaid in my opinion. Kiko continues to play like a literal chicken with his head cut off. Meaning on the positive side he goes all out, but on the negative side he is always out of control, takes bad angles, attacks the wrong holes, always looks lost in coverage and misses too many tackles due to bad technique. Branch still doesnt know how to hold the edge against the run and is not a significant factor in the pass rush. Again he gives big effort but makes too many mistakes. Jones is playing like a shell of his former self, he seems a step slower and hasnt done much of anything so far. Mcdonald got extended and paid without even playing a single regular season snap for us. He wont be available until week 8 and his preseason performance was not immpressive at all to me. He showed nothing other than he is a big hitter when he knocked ajayi into the concussion protocal.
Our defense has been rock solid... theyre not out of this world scary but theyre barely the problem.. The problem is we have about 5-7 holes on our starting offense with no playmakers at receiver quarterback or tight end and pathetic offensive line play.. look at what is going on around the league... our receivers are not making the kind of plays other teams are getting from their receivers.. its so freaking glaring its pathetic. Always will remain a firm believer of BPA. You draft the best playmaker available and the results will come. Look at the Rams..
The run defense is rock solid, but the pass defense is literal ****. We cant stop anybody on third down. I agree the main problem is the oline on offense, we should have saved some of the money we spent overpaying these guys and instead gotten ourselves a pair of starting quality guards. The entire offense sucks because our guards are trash.
Our defense is not getting turnovers, nor are they creating pressure on opposing QBs in the manner we need. There are very long stretches of games where the QB doesn't have to move - and even average QBs will pick you apart under those conditions. We are not getting blown out but if we are being honest the defense needs to create more pressure and capitalize on the few chances we have of getting a turnover. One of those plays can change a game. I hope they come but as of now we are behind the curve so to speak.
defense has done all they asked for, based on the fact they can't play with a lead or spot any points
You're *****ing about the Defense which is among leaders in points and yards... seriously? We're realistically giving up 15 ppg while averaging to lose TOP by around 10 mins in each of these past 2 games. They are earning their money, whether they have great stats or not.
As of week 4 we suck skunkape scrotum. Not saying we won't improve but as of this moment in time we are absolute freaking garbage.
Parker has been playing very well, landry has been getting open, stills has not been more of a factor because they are not taking deep shots. I think the wide recievers are good, the problem is the oline not protecting cutler and cutler making innacurate throws.
I dont agree with your assesment. Landry has been consistently among the top 15-20 recievers in the league, and parker has really improved this year he is the best and most productive reciecer on the team right now. Cutler has missed a wide open landry in the endzone two weeks in a row. Parker has been catching everything thrown his way that is catchable. It's not the recievers fault that the oline can't protect cutler and that cutler can't deal with the pressure to deliver more accurate throws.
Youre way overrating those two. I can name a receiver on more than 70% of the league i rather have than either of them. Hell some teams hold two receivers better than both.
Agree to disagree. The recievers are not the problem. Other than not having field awareness on a few occasioms and running backwards instead of forward for the first down I have not seen them play poorly. It's been mostly lack of time to develop routes because the oline, lack of good routes being called by gase, and consistently bad passes by cutler.
This is harder to do when the opponent is always playing with a lead and feels no pressure at all to keep up with our offense. I mean, opponents can pretty much take what's there and don't have to force the issue. If this offense were scoring 20+ points, and we held the occasional lead it would give the D a better chance to create pressure and turnovers.
lol is this a real thread? our defense has done enough to win 3 games. Hey, let's complain about them! let's ignore the 8 points per game we are averaging on offense....
DeVante Parker is the only possible ELITE WR on our roster right now. Jarvis Landry is an overrated crybaby that does not deliver when it matters most. Kenny Stills should not have been given that contract. Andre Branch should have (and was - I only thought we'd keep 1 of those 2, and I wanted Branch). Jay Cutler has played below average. But, I like his pocket movement during a pass rush a lot. He's still very good at evading pressure. MUCH better than Ryan Tannehill. How about our WRs catch the freakin' ball when it is well thrown?? Defense looks good to me. I can't complain under the circumstances. Julius Thomas? GO away already. Ajayi? Keep playing your heart out. It'll pay off soon. Love his play. Runs hard 100% of the time.
I am not seeing this. I am seeing a guy who is bailing too early and is causing pressures by running backwards when he should be able to slide or throw the ball away. I have been very disappointed with Jay Culter's pocket movement.
Jarvis Landry DROPPED a perfectly thrown TD in the 4th quarter, last game, on the very next play after Jarvis whined like a baby about the previous play. LOSER. Don't need those team cancers. Make them go away to another stupid team (i.e. Brandon Marshall - what a waste, $1mill talent and a $5 head. Just keep your mouth shut man.)
I am not defending Landry. I have not been happy with him in the last three games. He has dropped some important catchable balls.
If we are talking about the same pass it was not a drop. It was batted away by the defender. Cutler was late on the delivery and floated it too much giving the defender a chance to break it up.
