The view right now is pretty ugly...

However, were this the reverse, and we were number one in every area, one thing we'd be hearing is that sooner or later we'd have to return to the mean.

Well guess what, that works for both extremes. So, even thought we've been ravaged by injuries, and a hurricane, the reality is there is no way we're this bad. Sooner or later, we will have to return to the mean, and beyond that, I believe that Gase and the Dolphins aren't, and won't be, satisfied with being average. They're going to want to fight to get the most out whatever this season turns out to be.

It sucks that we'll lose one more contract year, and year of age, for many of our best players, and our oldest players, but you know what - it happens. It sucks. But it happens.

As a fan, it's rough to see a beginning like this, horrible even. However, if that's the fight the Dolphins are fighting right now, a fight to get up, a fight to move forward, a fight not to give up, then I want them to win.

There are no perfect teams. No perfect individuals. No perfect or complete players or coaches. You're always either moving forwards or falling back.

The Dolphins aren't this bad. They aren't the worst team in the league, but they've just had to learn some harsh lessons about who and where they are. I'm looking forward to seeing them learn, figure out, and overcome.

Now here's some views past those trees, mostly courtesy of Aqua!

If you've got Twitter follow him. One of the best Twitter follows on the Dolphins out there.

As I said on another thread, I was very pleasantly surprised by Tankersley. Watched him all game.

Harris was up against a backup, so I would need to see more when he is up against good competition to be as pleasantly surprised as I was with Tankersley.

Gase has never been very good at playcalling. He is always very predictable and bland in his playcalling. Dont know what dolphins this guy has been watching.

I agree, tank had a heck of a game. He should have been playing since the start of the season about time they put him out there. His preseason was also very imppressive.

Charles harris I also agree with your assesment he does ok against bad tackles with his quick first step and good bend. But when he faces any decent tackles he gets neutralized. He is a one trick pony at this point.

Well...in a league with 32 teams, someone has to finish last in those categories. There's no guarantee of a deviation towards the mean. It is very possible for a team to be ranked in last place for the entirety of the season with no change. A statistical analysis like that only holds true over multiple seasons.

You know what? After having my town(Naples) and property blown up by the hurricane having to evacuate then endure family while being evacuated etc, the nonsense of the kneeling and everything else I'm about glass is half full viewpointed the F out. We suck. We'll suck until we don't suck which is hopefully soon. I look forward to us not sucking. But while we suck, let's just all understand the magnitude at which we do suck and just accept it. I've been a hardcore bananas Dolphins fan 26 seasons. This is like Hiroshima/Nagasaki level of sheetshow I've ever seen. We're talking Cam Cameron level of offensive ineptitude through the first three games. Again, EAGER to see us improve but let's not throw out as an example how great Harris looked when he has not gotten a single sack (the guy was a first round pick whose job is to sack the QB and he hasn't done that yet). We might as well start setting the stage for how cold the craft beer will be on the club level or start comparing our cheerleader's hotness level to other teams.

    Ricky:
let this week past first to evaluate the team. Maybe even the next three weeks. A normalized schedule is back, with only a quick trip to Atl. The defense has been playing well, and maybe if we can lean on them more, we could win 2/3 and be 3-3 after 6.

I think a lot expected us to have a highly ranked offense, especially considering the Jets looked like they were tanking and the Saints have had a historically bad defense most of this decade, so given that I don't think being ranked top 5 or whatever would have proven much.

With everything considered this should be about a 15th ranked defense. So sure, we'll likely scratch and claw our way up the ranking to that level. When you are in a funk though there is always the danger of "chasing." That is players try to do more than their job. Or the coach is second guessing himself and goes to far away from his core beliefs and starts trying cockamamie things like the wildcat.
