No matter how good the camps are, how much he teases you. This team better not make a mistake and hang their hat on a player that is always hurt. You all want to sacrifice the head of Landry, but Landry is the one that shows fight when the team is down. All Landry wants is the ball, because he is on the field all the time. Despite money to Stills, drafting Carroo and Parker's "Breakout year," Landry is the one that we need, reliable, productive and willing to do it all. So the next person that thinks Parker over Landry again, make sure the guy is actually playing and not on the bench with another injury (went out in first series)
So, should the Texans keep JJ? Once the injury bug starts, most of the time it just keeps coming. It's too bad, I thought Parker was doing the best out of our WR's so far. But dependability is huge in this League....
You know, I know how high you are for Landry. We ALL get it, Landry is God in your eyes but uh, you really need to open your eyes and realize Landry isn't producing. Now you can use the argument, and I'll even concede the point that right now our offense is in shambles, but look at Landry's YAC average... 2014: 5.5 2015: 5.3 2016: 6.7 2017: 3.7 Landry had a breakout year last year...and for that matter, his previous years. He was making plays and getting yardage AFTER the catch. This year, he's doing nothing. And as for Parker, it's a sprained ankle. Might be sidelined next week but of the 3 receivers, Parker and Stills actually has the ability to be the deep threat...if Cutler and the offensive line can get its act together. Landry isn't going to last. His style of play, while exciting is like burning a candle at both ends...the light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.
With the Giants hurting, I'd see if they are interested in an OBJ/Landry "reunion." Probably not, at 0-5 they are effectively done, but maybe Reese is desperate for his job and we could pry loose something good.
so they are down on Apple, so somehow, as usually, Miami should trade or get players that were "down?" How has that formula worked out? Miami is always looking for a feel-good story, a story where they find the hidden talent other teams don't see. That's why they have been mediocre
so if Landry was traded today, what do you have left at WR exactly? Keep waiting for the breakout games
Honestly, I feel like Landry puts us into scoring position quite frequently (or he did with Thill). Until Landry, Thill lacked what many upper tier QBs have....a YAC threat. Last year, Landry was 4th best in the league in total YAC yards and the top WR in total YAC. Top 20 in receiving 1st downs too (that's WRs, TEs & RBs). He's not dangerous in the red zone, but he gets us to the red zone.
The thing is, we've had receivers who could do that, just didn't use them properly. Welker, Hogan, and others, have gone to other teams and been successful in those roles. I love Landry, but, I don't think he brings anything particularly special to the table. Would losing Landry RIGHT NOW hurt the team? Of course. Just like losing a starting receiver on any team hurts. But, I don't think it would be as big a deal as he makes it out to be.
