I would love to see Houston in the first round of a reseeded playoff.

Pretty sure we made them our ***** last year.

Embiid got a 5 year 150 million dollar extension and the guy can barely play half a season... thats going to set a new standard for agents across the league at the negotiation table

Cavs set opening day lineup....and i can't get over how good that 2nd team is.

With the west being brutal and the east a joke, I say you go for that 1 seed overall for home court and lay off the resting too frequently. Cavs get home court? And they absolutely can beat OKC in the finals.

If Cleveland really thinks Lebron is going to leave next year, they should just play him 48 minutes per game.

68 three pointers made thru 3 preseason games for the Rockets. Not bad.

Good call. I keep forgetting about this technically being Simmons's rookie year. He should definitely be in play there.

Richardson has been really good, too. I think Richardson should be the starting 3, and Johnson could be a 6th man of the year candidate, as I love his ability to score off the bench.

Richardson has to start IMO. Even if you're desirous for Winslow to be great, Richardson is playing better and has the contract extension. TJ is definitely justifying his contract and with the salary inflation over the past two years, he can pretty much be thought of as a steal. He's capable of playing that Eric Gordon role off the bench.

Just my opinion, but if someone called me about Whiteside, I'd pick up that phone. It would have to be a really good call, of course, but I'd at least hear what they had to say. In the current NBA landscape, I think you can get away with Olynyk and Johnson as your starting frontcourt if you can field a star at the 2 or 3 position.

It doesn't look like Winslow is his main competition to start. It's McGruder, who's been starting thus far. I can see the thought process there, but McGruder is a guy based solely on talent, that is near the bottom of your rotation. They don't seem to care about, that though, as they showed starting Babbitt last year. I'd still go with Richardson as he gives you everything McGruder does, and more, and I think you have a good second unit with Johnson and Johnson, where you don't necessarily need that punch off of the bench.

As for Whiteside, I wouldn't give up on him yet. He just gives you too much, and I think is finally finding his place on this team. If Adebayo develops, then maybe you can look at that moving forward.

It's not that I don't think Whiteside is a star player, I just think the NBA is more focused around that swingman fulcrum. Teams like the Pelicans that are still built around that center position aren't really super competitive. Outside of the uber-talented guys like Towns who still stretch the floor to an extent and can play perimeter D, the center is only a nice complement.

Richardson shouldn't have any more competition for the starting gig. That should be settled. He's been awesome.

McGruder should end up, what, 9th in minutes? Goran, Dion, Josh, Olynyk, Whiteside, TJ, JJ, Justise. All those guys should play more than McGruder.

I've also been really impressed with TJ. He looks like our best shooter, really stroking it off the catch or the dribble all over the floor. He's gonna pour in some points. Olynyk's been impressive too. Our front court is so versatile, big or small.

Should be a fun year. I think we'll make the playoffs.

For one I think Fultz is going to be running that team. He's far and away a better prospect then Simmons imo. Secondly, IF I'm wrong about Simmons, then he will only steal votes from Fultz.

I still have Jackson with Tatum as my darkhorse.

Before I forget, I'll just throw out that Dennis Smith Jr., has as good a shot as anyone else to win RoY. I also think, if given the minutes to work, Kuzma could and probably would lead all rookies in scoring.

I don't know. I wonder if Simmons will actually be the one running the offense. And I'm not sure Fultz is the better prospect, let alone by far. Simmons has to develop his shot for sure, but he does an awful lot well.

As far as Jackson, that one will be interesting to watch. His offense got a lot better as the college season went on, but how will it look in the NBA? Guys like that have usually taken a couple years to get going (i.e. Butler and Leonard). And with Tatum, I'm just not sure how many points will be available on that team. If he's their 6th man, maybe.

We are going to disagree on Simmons. I felt he was vastly overrated at LSU and not worthy of a #1 overall selection...not even top 5 really. He jumps every time he drives and ends up passing much like Derrick Rose which will lead to a lot of dumb turnovers. His shot in general is atrocious. He's a decent defender when he wants to be but will he want to? I also have serious questions about his attitude and approach to the game as I've not read a lot of glowing things.

I agree on Tatum actually and think the 6th man role will be how he starts. But I think he's going to come in and be an effective scorer immediately on a team that may need another guy who can really create his own shot.

Jackson is a player you know I love. His defense will lead to a lot of transition offense. He can use some work on his mid range and 3 but I could easily see him averaging like 15 a night with 5-7 rebounds and active defensive stats in steals and blocks (if he's over 1 a game in each he'd be one of only a handful of wing players to do that) which would put him in the conversation.

With the Heat's top 3 players out, Bam finally got some playing time last night and looked really good. I know they don't really play the same position, but I don't see how Okaro White should be ahead of Bam in the rotation.

Josh Richardson continued his impressive preseason, although his shooting wasn't what it has been.

At this point you just can't start JJ. He's too good off the bench alongside TJ.

Winslow is really struggling to score right now. His shot isn't falling, and while he's doing a good job of getting to the basket, he isn't finishing. Hopefully at the very least he learns to finish at the basket, but the optimism is fading a bit. He did play well in other areas, though. His drive and dish game is effective, he handled the ball adequately, and obviously his defense is stellar.

    I love Columbus.

Ohio is pound for pound the best sports breeding ground in the country.

And the point is not that he reeled that way, but that he made a comment he KNEW would anger fans who had has his back from day 1

Whiteside needs a PR person to stop him from some of the things he says. Embiid is beloved, youre not. Youre the healthier and better player, you dont need to get in stupid social media battles with him over preseason, especially since the media will always take Embiid’s side since they love that clown that has played 30+ some games in his career.

Get over it and shut him down again when we play philly IF embiid plays which i doubt.

I saw ESPN, Fox Sports and every sports media make Hassan look like a clown. So my statement stands, he needs to tone it down and let his play do the talking. He is not going to win the talk with a guy like Embiid. It is not a good look anyways, its a stupid preseason game.

For his play, probably not. But with him the Spurs are maybe one more piece away from being serious contenders. Without him they risk Kawhi being unhappy and maybe a rebuild.

I have zero problem with Whiteside's part in this. It actually makes for fun basketball and creates a rivalry. It might even get Whitesdie some more exposure. All of his responses were correct, though, and Embied started it with his antics on the court. Whiteside did hold him in check, but nobody wants to talk about that.
