I'm curious- does it make people feel more important to call something official? Because I sure don't feel any more important. For that reason, I'm going to start all of my threads with "The Official..." until I start feeling officially better about myself. With that said, I am officially going to stop trolling official game day threads in an official capacity, although I may still do it in an unofficial way. That's officially my statement on this very important official manner. Why does it feel like this is officially the way they'd talk about anything official in North Korea? Anyway, I think Jay Cutler officially sucks because his officially sucky line is not giving him enough time to officially throw and official pass to an official receiver. For that reason, I believe that we will officially lose to Atlanta unless our official defense can officially score at least two official touchdowns. Then again, Grant is due for an official TD of his own on an official kickoff return, so I am officially crossing my fingers that it will happen this Sunday. Just replying to the germane football issues rather that thread-madness... 1) I don't think the length of protection is Jay's only issue, but it is exacerbating his current weakness -- which is mainly rust, lack of timing with the receivers, being jumpy after taking his first big hit a few games ago (no longer willing to step into a throw if it means getting hit), lethargic into and out of the huddle, no urgency or crispness, and hazy on his speed mentally after the snap so he NEEDS more time before he can pull the trigger. PLUS the line is a bit inconsistent. 2) No one has a kickoff return TD in the league this season. Thanks to the rule changes. It may have to come on a punt return.
pre draft when studying grants game I said that I thought he would struggle on kickoff return, he doesn't cut the field into sections like the great ones do..its all individuality.
What Barry said. Did I just give kudos to Barry? What's this season dissolved into? (Cutty effect). - Journeyman, Jay Cutler, sucks all on his lonesome and always has. That's been everywhere he's ever been. Behind every OL he's ever played. For every team he's ever played. With all the talent he's ever played with (and there's been a lot). - Cutler was not "great" with Gase in Chicago. Gase coached him to limit his turnovers and stop forcing the ball into coverage - like the idiotic "Smokin' Special" he blindly threw into coverage against the titans. Throwing in the dirt or OOB is what he prefers as there's no loss of yards. - The OL sucks on it's own merit. The OL is bad. The OL is not as bad as the start of last season. The OL is not the sole reason that Cutler has sucked. The OL is not the sole reason that our ground game has failed so far. - With Parker possibly not playing, we should see more Carroo, Grant, and Drake. We especially need the speed that Grant and Drake bring, along with Damien Williams in the passing game.
I'm sorry. I think I started it 2 wks ago when I asked who died and made dirtylandry the official official gameday thread starter. Apparently I was not the only one who wondered? You are welcome. And you club boys and girls who used to be gameday thread starters and finishers should jump in soon .
I also saw what you were talking about the other week though when one member told another that they "weren't allowed to start the official gameday thread"....then the "official gameday threads" suddenly started showing up a few hours after our game ended on Sunday. Only, there was no scouting on the upcoming team, no conversation, just....."This is official so you officially have to respect my officialness!" So I figured I'd sarcastically share my opinion on the matter. I read threads because I respect people and their opinions here...not because they're marked "official".
