Thought they'd try to get something for him, but that market wouldn't have been until later in the year for a team in an emergency, and we needed cap relief now.

There might not have been a market at all, he was a dead man walking with the crappy way he started this season.

I've got no beef with Maxwell. He was as helpful as he could be. He was even praised regularly this offseason. Tough break for him, but I'm very happy that Gase seems to think we have better options.

I think it's a great situation for Maxwell. Don't be upset for him. He gets his money, plus he can double dip and sign a new contract if somebody else hires him.

I didn't see the Maxwell cut coming. Kind of caught me off guard a bit but in hindsight, it does make sense...as does the signing of Fales. Even though it was preseason, Fales far outplayed Doughty but as it was a foregone conclusion that we were only keeping 2 QBs on our roster and due to NFL rules, Fales couldn't be signed the the practice squad, we sadly had to cut him.

This is only going to be temporary anyhow, at least I think so. After Cutler heals up he'll be back in the line-up but as some have pointed out, will he be back as the starter or backing up Moore? I think tonight's game will be the determining factor. I've always felt a starter shouldn't lose his job to injury, no matter how well a back-up plays after all, that's a back-up's job...to come in and pick up where the starter left off. Earl Morrell came in relief of Bob Griese and led the Dolphins to history but, Griese ended up coming back in the 2nd half of the AFC Championship game and ultimately the Super Bowl. Earl did his job as prescribed but sometimes, bringing in the back-up the start over the starter is what a team needs to steer it in the right direction. Everyone remembers what happened when Marino came in the 4th quarter of that Monday night game against the Raiders following the inept performance of David Woodley...or when some scrawny kid named Brady came in when Bledsoe went down.

Anyone freaking out over Fales need not worry.

You assume that the correct starter was announced in the first place. Which is logical, but does not always occur. This seems like one of those times the correct starter was not named.

An argument can be made that Cutler wasn't able to get the scheme down as fast as most (including Gase I presume) thought, but he was most definitely the right choice for the starter.

We were sold that Cutler knew the system and would be plug and play.

I found it interesting that last night Moore had a wrist band on with plays? He should now them by now? Have they changed? The Offense looked putrid again.

Yep. And I agree about the wristband thing. However, I think even Manning wore a wristband at times. (Brady wore one early on in his career, but he typically has the plays called into his helmet up to the snap of the ball...lol)
