**** this ****. I am done with the dolphins, at least until gase is fired. Have lost all respect for him, his ego is out of control Landry and ajayi played harder for us than anybody on the team and this is what he does to them? **** gase, not spending a single dime on the dolphins anymore and I hope everybody else does the same hopefully Ross sells the team to somebody with more football sense he is clueless as well.
Wait, I thought you wanted the FO to make moves and trades? Only kidding, I get the cause for concern here. I mean, I do, but for all the reasons I've already listed in other posts, I'm ok with the move.
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article181846146.html courtesy of Rev posted in the club earlier... Thought it would be beneficial here for you guys to see what's really gone on... You're not going to build a team with Me first guys. A lot of that seems to be playing into the decision to possibly trade Landry as well.
May make some of you happy... Barry JacksonVerified account @flasportsbuzz As @JosinaAnderson reported, I am also told that Landry was specifically told by Dolphins he won't be traded before today's deadline. Not me though. Unless you're sure you want Landry here, and you're going to get a fair deal done with him you should be trying to sell him, especially if you can get something better than the potential 3rd round compensatory pick he'd likely bring you if he left in FA.
yes bc going to the pro bowl is a joke. right now the first 5 or more players are in the super bowl or decline to go. basically half the league or more are "pro bowlers" bc they get nominated, decline, which opens more spots for people to be "pro bowlers" look at the bengals, gio benard hill and mixon... heck RB's that aren't even drafted are having good years as rookies now.
No!! You'd have to be snorting lines with Forester to even consider trading away Landry, the teams' best player. No effin' way!!!!Stop the crazy talk!!
What did you think we were going to get for a RB with one year left on his contract, bum knees, and who pissed our head coach off so much that he just traded away his 'best' player simply to be rid of his cancerous attitude? I'm surprised we even got a late 4th.
Oh boy did I get hammered for saying Gase was overrated. He went with Foster over Ajayi at first, then barely gave him touches, then Ajayi went nuts and Gase was forced to feed him. Gase was lucky Ajayi carried him on that winning streak. Now everything is falling apart and he’s complicit in letting Ajayi go for a fourth rounder from the team with the best record in the league.
Did you even read the article that spells out exactly what was going on with Jay, or do you prefer to create your own version of the events? We went with Foster over Ajayi because Ajayi was being a difficult player through camp, pouting, etc. etc. He was left at home week 1 for performance, and attitude issues, not because he preferred Foster, or thought Foster was better, etc, etc. That lit a fire under Jay apparently. This year, he's got the same attitude again by the reports we're seeing come out, combine that with his obvious limitations which don't need to be repeated here again, and the fact you've got a coaching staff who's fed up with his attitude, and willingness to do whatever he wants, rather than what he's supposed to do, and he's as good as gone almost anywhere. Everything is falling apart, in part due to Jay Ajayi's attitude, and play if you ask the coaches, and other sources with/around the team. Gase basically mentioned this on Friday. When your best players, are the causes of your problems, and are more concerned with themselves over the team, this is what happens to them ultimately.
Trading Jay sucks short term but I have a feeling there is more to the story. Long term it is probably for the best.
Again, for me, it's about planning for the future, not what he's done in the past for us. I like the guy too, he's all heart and effort for the most part, but by the sounds of things, he's asking for crazy money, a deal hasn't been struck, and last report was they weren't close. So, if it's starting to look unlikely that you re-sign him before he hits free agency and he goes elsewhere for what might end up a 3rd round compensatory pick, why not try and trade him for more than that? I'm just saying, there's logic there to it. If you have a chance to grab a 1, or a 2 and 5/6 type thing why not do it? It's all around better than being given a 3rd round comp pick, that could change pending what you do in free agency yourselves. That's the angle I'm looking at it from.
Yeah, and who knows, we might see a deal later today bringing another back here to replace him that might provide a better fit, and all around production including blocking, and receiving.
Staggering decision and one which will condemn this season to the scrap heap.At least Ajayi has a chance of making the Super Bowl now.
It appears that Tannebaum and Gase are doing everything they can to ensure the Eagles are the best team in the NFL. They made the trade before the 2016 draft that gave the Eagles the draft pick which made it easier for the Eagles to move up and draft Wentz. Now they have basically given the Eagles one of the best RB’s in the entire league for what will likely be a very late round 4th round draft pick. In return for their generosity the past two years, the Dolphins have in return received a mediocre LB and a CB who is no longer on the roster, while Tunsil so far has not lived up to expectations. The Eagles front office obviously is aware that Tannebaum has no idea what he is doing. So they just continue to make Tannebaum look like a fool whenever they feel like it.
Idc what the reasoning was. He didn’t give the guy touches for the first few games. Ajayi forced his hand and carried them on that winning streak. Gase had a cokehead as his OL coach. Now that the SHTF, he was complicit in unloading our best RB in a while for a fourth rounder to the team with the best record in the league. Gase is a joke. We will not recover from this for a while. Who knows? Maybe the ratings and ticket sales and merchandise sales will tumble so badly they’ll dissolve this joke of a franchise for good.
" Ajayi was a curious case because he had a period before the season-opener last season during which the Dolphins were really frustrated with him. It’s the reason he was left home when the team flew to Seattle for the 2016 season opener. Ajayi seemingly addressed his attitude after that. And he reaped the benefits. He earned the starting job and became the team’s most effective offensive weapon. That continued through the offseason. But in the last four weeks or so, the Dolphins saw pre-Seattle Jay Ajayi again. He complained bitterly about not getting the football. He stormed out of the locker room -- get this, after wins -- because he hadn’t gotten what he deemed to be enough carries. And, oh yes, he didn’t exactly light it up on the field. And here’s the thing: All this was done undercover. Ajayi complained to his position coach. And he carried around an attitude around other teammates. But he never took his concerns to the only voice that matters and that’s Gase. He was, again, pre-Seattle Jay Ajayi. More concerned with self than with the team, I’m told. So the Dolphins have sent him off. They believe it is addition by subtraction in the locker room. On the field, that’s going to be another matter. The Dolphins don’t exactly have a deep stable of potential 1,000-yard rushers on the roster. That issue is real and it’s going to require attention -- maybe by the time the trade deadline hits at 4 p.m. on Tuesday."
Ajayi has no ****ing limitations, he is a great runner, he is a good reciever( if gase could design some plays other than short passes to the flat) and he is a decent blocker, actually the best blocker we have at RB. Yes his knees are probably not going to last for more than a couple years, but right now he is still one of the best running backs in the league. If gase can't get him to play within his terrible system that is on gase not ajayi. Coaches need to help make the players better and design the offense towards their strength not the other way around.
Sure. Btw, tell me the name of the last running back for the dolphins that rushed for 1200 yards and went to the pro bowl. Since they're so easy to come by, we must have had plenty over the years. I'll wait patiently for your response
When I wrote a long post saying that Gase was pissed at Ajayi for not hitting open holes and bouncing the ball outside 80% of the time, people gave me a ton of crap too. While i loved Ajayi, he's a me-first guy who doesn't want to listen to coaches or support his teammates. That's fine when you're winning, but when entire defenses are keying you and you're 100% shut down...listen to your damn coach. I hate to see him go since his talent is off the charts, but it was going to be "next man up" this week anyway- likely Drake. So Gase's logic was take a 4th rounder for him or let him take a roster spot on the bench while being a cancer in the locker room. This was a smart trade.
I really liked Jay Ajayi's running style. That being said, with everything that has been supposedly going on behind the scenes, he wasn't long for the Dolphins after next year. And I don't think they could have gotten any compensation for him, next year, knowing that he was on maybe-a-half-season-rental? We should definitely be dipping into the draft for a 3D tailback this year, if anything. Our season was already in limbo when Tannehill went down. I wasn't expecting, truthfully, Jay Cutler or Matt Moore to drive us to a super bowl victory. This move is building for the future, by jettisoning a player who isn't buying into a culture. Am I disappointed by the seeming trajectory of the rest of our season? Of course. Is this move going to affect the rest of the season? Probably. Can I put my homery optimism aside and realize that it was a move for the future? Yes, as biting and sobering as that is. I've been bringing up the Patriots a lot lately, but they do these things all the time (insert cheating jokes here etc. etc). Everybody scoffed when they selected Duron Harmon in the 2nd(?) or 3rd round(?), but guess what? He's still "dewing his jab" for them. They obviously identified he was a team-guy, a heart-guy, and would be complicit with their winning culture. So they picked him, and he's quietly doing his part to contribute to a winning team and culture. He might not be a great, or even good player, but he's a serviceable player. They were judged by trading Jamie Collins, who really succeeded with his athleticism his first couple years with the Pats. They saw his work habits and decided he wouldn't be worth a contract resigning, same with Chandler Jones. Everybody hated the moves. How are the Browns and Cardinals doing this year? It IS ALL ABOUT BUILDING A CULTURE. Get on the train or we will manually remove you, if need be. I know it hurts, because Ajayi is obviously talented. But was he talented enough to forgive his attitude and selfishness? Towards his hampering of building a positive, team-first, winning culture? The obvious answer was, no. I'd rather have my coach have a big ego and fail doing what he strongly feels is right, then a meek, demure coach coasting on half-decisions and -measures and making compromises when he doesn't want to. I just really hope that Gase can be the guy that does that and succeeds, rather than fails. This trade is a turning point in his career as coach of the Miami Dolphins, we'll see if, in time, he's right.
Good call, by the way. I was reading your opinions on Ajayi's running, and kind of deferring to your tape-watching. Interesting to see it coming to a head this morning.
A Pro Bowl RB for a ****ing 4th round pick. In this NFL a second or third round pick should have been traded for at least. Whoever executed this trade should be fired. This trade could end up being one of the worst in South Florida sports history. It's tied with the Mike Keenan trade maybe right now. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2333162-ranking-the-10-worst-nhl-trades-of-the-past-decade
I love gase. That is one bad ***. Best coach since shula. This is just like last year's online purge. If you're holding back the team you're gone. Would've preferred a 3rd but a 4th is fine considering he had to act fast
You forgot to mention that Pro Bowler was traded to the team with the best record in the league for that fourth round pick.
Blount only has a one year contract with the Eagles too. He can really shine and get more touches next year.
It makes the trade that much worse. Last year Ajayi had the most yards after contact and made the Pro Bowl. We traded him for what’s not far off from a high fifth round draft pick.
At that point in the draft, it doesn't matter. Teams have specific players targeted that late in the draft.
