Gase said after the Jets game he hoped Landry would be here for a long time. If someone needs to go, it could be carroo or parker. He is treating Landry the same way he did Stills last year

    "Now onto Landry.

It’s obvious the Dolphins don’t hold him in the same lofty regard that fans do. They like him. They value him. They’ve told him that.

But they don’t love him unconditionally -- especially when he also messes up on his assignments and often enough doesn’t do things the way the team wants that it has become a frustration.

That’s the reason Landry can be had in trade by any team paying substantial compensation for him. (And by substantial I assume that means a second round pick).

[Update: Again, the Dolphins have told Landry he’s staying. They also told him if he didn’t hold out from offseason conditioning and OTAs and minicamp, they’d address his contract.]

If no team decides to step up and buy Landry, the next few weeks until the end of the season will be interesting because everyone involved seems to understand this relationship is not exactly a love affair.

Landry’s camp is frustrated he hasn’t gotten a contract extension while the Dolphins have made multiple other moves to extend or re-sign other players.

The Dolphins are frustrated because they’ve asked Landry time and time and time again to buy in to what the coaching staff is selling, to do it their way. And he hasn’t. He didn’t last year and that’s probably the reason he didn’t get an extension this offseason.

He hasn’t so far this year, either, and that’s probably the reason he’s available in trade for the next few hours and might or might not get a contract in the offseason if he stays.

(Remember, if the Dolphins lose Landry in free agency, they’re banking it will be for a deal that pays between $12-$15 million per year and so that will bring a third- or fourth-round compensatory pick the following year). They can also franchise tag him if, for example, he suddenly changes personalities and does things exactly as coaches want."

So stupid. Should have traded him for a 2nd rounder when we had the chance.

I’m just wondering how many fans will continue to defend Gase and the front office if we end up trading Landry.

Basically the arguments for trading Ajayi:
    “He didn’t study, he’s a bad boy.”
“He’s not the same player as last year, nevermind our offense ranking dead last.”
“Oh yeah, all those years I complained about the OL and the coaching to protect Tannehill, forget about that. Ajayi is actually the problem now. Forget about the cokehead OL coach and the fairweather HC who was bailed out by Ajayi last year.”

TJ Mac got a new contract without ever playing a down. Landry getting played, and he hates it, and it's showing on the field. A true test of character is doing your best even when things don't go your way.

    Landry failed. Bye.

Yup, and he's dropped about a half dozen over the middle. And deep. And short. And he hasn't gained a single first down on screen passes...which is supposed to be his specialty.

Landry is a great player, we're just not seeing the 2016 effort that made us all love the guy. And if there's a problem with him running routes now as well, then this could be his final season in Miami.

I don't know man this is a contract year for the guy i see plenty of effort on his part. The play calling this year and QB situation is killing his numbers in his hope for a big contract. As for the screens.. He is always getting hit as soon as he gets the ball. It's hardly his fault when i see plays Parker is assigned to block for him and not the other way around.

Right, but Gase assured him he'd be a Dolphin, despite his stats, if he kept up his great attitude from last year. Judging by his "leaders of the offense" presser, he didn't do that, at least in the Baltimore game. He obviously had much more goodwill than Ajayi had.

I think it's probably more of a lapse of judgment from Landry, whereas Ajayi's issues kept cropping up. I can understand, despite Gase's love for Landry before the Ravens game, why they'd still be listening to offers.

These are all just thoughts, I don't have any concrete evidence for any of these claims.

It’s hard to actually run a successful bubble screen when everyone knows you are runing it. Every time Miami lines up in a trips left, the defense knows it is a screen. Gase’s offense is a joke.

Someone will step up and buy him from us. Miami doesn’t seem to value him as much as I think they should. He’s going to have options and Miami being in perpetual rebuild mode is t an attractive offer for someone craving stardom and playing time.

Im just wondering do i sell my Landry military jersey now for $100 or at the end of the year for $20 when he's no longer with the team? This team is like the Marlins ill never buy another players jersey again.

I would sell it now....if the Pats get him you might as well burn it. I was expecting hik to go to the Pats yesterday. It would help us as much as Wes Welker to the Pats did.

That's what I was trying to explain to someone else in another thread, someone will pay him and he will strive and Miami once again will look like fools.
