Man, I am guilty of buying the offseason and TC hype. I thought this was the breakout year for Parker, thought Ajayi would have 2,000 total yards, Cutler would be the perfect fit from Day 1, Grant would be utilized in the offense and Julius Thomas would be the elite TE we lacked. Amazing how camp starts and little by little, those dreams get torn down. Then by the time the first week rolls around, I am already in panic mode. Now here in Week 10, I don't think I will ever buy the hype anymore. Not until I know the "unsexy" part of this team is fixed. We sat here all offseason, and debated stats and wins and getting over the hump. But deep down we didn't see and couldn't see how bad this team is fundamentally. Next year I won't buy the hype. Not until I know they have made strides, real attempts to replace the linemen they have now. I also want to know this is sustainable. I love RT the servicable qb, but this team and this city need an injection of life at QB. Again, look at LA and Phily. Get some competition in and let the best man win.
that's easily said but im sure come march and april of next year the same hype will come back that's just our duties as fans, I was never really ecstatic about this yr except ajayi and landry. I think parker has skills yet not utilized well enough. The cutler signing really gave me deep deep sorrow I knew it wasn't going to be good. one day I hope we will change everyone's opinion of us and prove me wrong.
Tannehill deserves another year as the starter. That being said, the team should really be scouting back-up QBs that could blossom should he regress. I never thought Ajayi would repeat behind this offensive line, they have such trouble run-blocking. Couple that with the fact that he apparently had a piss-poor attitude, his inability to break a tackle in the passing game, and well.. you know the rest. We need some dogs at the LG and RG position, these holds are killing our drives and we need more than 2-3 yards a clip. Pouncey gets one more year; he is coming off an uncomfortable injury but when are we going to get our feisty, physical, center back? We need an all-purpose back, too, unless this committee approach works itself out through the rest of the year. No idea about Devante Parker. He wasn't a superb route-runner out of college, and we haven't seen him really take over on a consistent basis. The same can be said about the TE position. Julius Thomas had a nice game last night, but where was he before then? Both our TE's are solidly-built chain-movers, but nobody's scared of either of them right now. Defense got a makeover this past offseason, and will be better with McMillan and Lippett back. We could use another young LB and pass-rusher, but we should be okay there. Will the offense see the makeover this season? We need to get guys in that aren't so damn yellow. You just want some consistent players. Not really getting that right now.
Dang brah! I know you like starting threads but two of the same is a little overboard, don't ya think?
It’s usually the off seasons where I have zero hope going into the season and then we win the division lol 08 and last year....
maybe that's what Miami's MO is, that every one sees, look at vance joseph in Denver he took a contender and made it a laughing stock maybe miami makes people good at slight of hand lol If I was a coach I would stay far away from MIAMI the rock is going to start running downhill and no one is going to get coaches from MIAMI lol jk
They don't really have a dependable QB situation though, and the team is starting to feel it. I think we felt it early vs. Baltimore, and the Broncos felt it early vs. Eagles. They'll reset, but I don't expect them to be dangerous this year. They weren't that dangerous last year either.
I said back at the end of last year that last year was a complete aberration and was ridiculed by guys like Dan Marino (the poster) on here. I was right, and this team is just as average/mediocre as it was last year. This team is the definition of mismanaged, and we dont have an easy way out because we have one of the worst GM's in football in Mike Tannenbaum. He's doing to us exactly what he did to the Jets. Fielding an expensive, mediocre team with no true hopes of coming out of the mediocrity anytime soon. Last year we were just as bad. We got extremely fortunate with an easy *** schedule and pulling games out of our asses. Good teams winning close games is maybe a skill, a team like the dolphins doing it against exclusively bad teams was simply luck. This team has the talent to go anywhere from 6-10 to 9-7 every year, but never a true contender as currently constructed. Mike Tannenbaum has ruined this roster, he needs to go. He completely ignored the guard position yet again this offseason and it is the major reason for the offensive failure for what, the 5th straight year? He has been an absolute joke at finding a competent tight end that has any kind of future with the team. He mis judged our own talent and gave long term deals to guys who are average at best. Andre Branch was terribly overpaid, and Kiko Alonso is a straight up bad player and has been since he tore his ACL his rookie year. We are the least explosive and most boring and incompetent team in football, and we dont have a brigbht future either. If i had the ability to, i wouldnt be a dolphins fan. im 23 years old and have seen nothing but mismanagement and incompetence with the occasional wild card aberration followed by a blow out because we arent a true playoff quality team. Nothing will change while this moron Mike Tannenbaum is still our decision maker. He is a horrific GM.
They looked undisciplined to me last night. Not sure if that is ongoing but they do have their share of penalties on the season. Troubling from a coaching perspective. Joseph's unit in Cincinnati had their own hand in the defensive meltdown in the playoff game against Pittsburgh too. If they continue to play undisciplined this is all food for thought for John Elway.
how he sweet talked Ross into giving him yet another job after being a terrible GM in NY is beyond me. He literally does nothing well. Not free agency, not the draft, and even though he's not responsible for this, player development has been non existent since he's been here.
Are you surprised? Stephen Ross got all his money from NY real estate... in the back of my mind I still wonder if Ross is really a jets fan and this is ultimate payback... I mean, the guy runs the team like he is a NYJ fan.. seriously
Yeah, because Stephen Ross has done nothing good for the organization, or the community in his time as the owner right? Get out of here with that junk. Seriously. Sure, we can question the Tannenbaum decision, but to say, or imply that Stephen Ross is a jets fan, and runs the team like that is just stupidity. What he's done for the Dolphins to this point, and the community with the stadium, the RISE initiative, working towards trying to build a better team with a highly respected coaching hire, and hey... Tannenbaum may not have the best track record, but it's better than bringing in his friend Peterson at the time. Tannenbaum left the agent world and rejoined the team side, they've done a decent job rebuilding, obviously there's a ways to go still, but it's not like they've destroyed things like Jeff Ireland did. Garfinkle is a fantastic hire from an organizational standpoint. It's not even worth discussing at this point, because it's a really poor idea on your part, but I get it... it's the effect you're going for. Cool.
stephen ross is just about as good of an owner as you can ask for. dont get the hate for him. if i hve a complaint about him its that he doesnt know about football and thus doesnt know the right people to hire on the football side. But he is invested in his team and willing to spend money on his team. not sure what else you want him to do.
I love you man Not in a weird way but that post deserved SO MUCH more than just a like. That called for some serious leg humping at least.
i think ross is a great owner. I love that he is willing to invest his own money in the team and wants to win. I was just saying that he doesnt hire great front office people because i dont think he knows what he's doing as far as putting together a front office.
Yeah, it's not like we lost our starting QB, starting LB'er, starting OG, and a rusty Jones came back. Why not compare apples to apples instead of comparing smart people to you? I own you.
