Well, time to move on. Another national game. CP pose two issues I have HBP on already, a mobile qb to keep the chains moving and a RB that can catch out the backfield. Mia needs to clean up the coverage on the TE. If they are going to have a LB cover 20 yards down the field, we need a pass rush.

I'm going to this game, and I'm honestly just hoping that we don't get blown out.

This is another game that we will lose. We should beat Tampa and maybe Denver but that is it. FML, it is a common trend with this team....poor play calling and offensive line.

I’m thinking the same thing. I hate both of those damn teams. Hell, I would consider the season a success if Suh persuades Brady into retirement.

I honestly wonder how many of these seasons are we going to endure. Last year fine, we got to the playoffs so that was good

But will adam gase survive 2 more seasons like this one? How stubborn is Ross?

Whether we like it or not, Ross has repeatedly preached patience in hiring decisions. It's why he kept Philbin for so long. And when he hired Gase the shortest leash he was willing to give him was to make the playoffs within 3 years "or we're looking for a new coach". Thing is.. we made the playoffs the first year.

Barring an utter catastrophe, Gase is most likely the coach not only this year, but next year and probably even longer. I'm not saying that's necessarily the best decision (I'd make everything contingent on W/L), but I do think that's the most likely outcome given what we've seen with Ross and his reluctance to be impatient for success in the past.

And I completely agree with Ross that (unless you see some very bad signs early on, ala Cam Cameron) if you truly do trust your hiring process you stick with the coach for a few years until he has his feet under him, his system and most of his types of players set.

this team has 7-9 all over it. Yet again, mediocre. We have 2 more guaranteed losses against the pats, a likely loss on the road against the Panthers and Chiefs, and then games against the Bucs, Broncos, and 2 against the bills which we will probably go 2-2 against.

the problems they pose, are the same issues Miami always has....allowing the qb to extend drives w the feet and backs catching out the backfield. I want to see the Chic game and see what they did. however, seems they have fixed issues since then

Remember that game against the Ravens where we won on a fluke and Philbin came back for another year then got fired mid season?

Yeah, Ross will find any reason to keep his guy around until SHTF.

    No, I don't remember that.

And neither do you because it never happened and you just made that up.

In 2014, Philbin's last full season, the Dolphins lost to the Ravens 28-13.

Maybe if you didn't feel the need to make stuff up to get angry over you'd like the Dolphins more?

A blocked punt kept the Dolphins from having to go into OT. Is that the "fluke"? Minnesota was 6-9 that year. Pulling out a last second win against a team worse than us... You think that's the reason Philbin wasn't fired?

    Jesus....

Plus he's had like what, 3 or 4 opportunities to come here and coach. If he wanted to coach down here, he'd already be here. If he comes back to coach, it will not be for Miami. IMO.

I was actually at that game and left early because that team was so miserable to watch. The talk before the game was that he would be fired, then we blocked the kick and even before the last week of the year, Ross said philbin was coming back for next year right after the game in week 16. It was an emotional decision that didnt need to be made then and there.

Ross did not want to fire Philbin. He liked Philbin a lot. He wanted to announce it after a win to appease the fan base.

I heard Ross on the radio glowing about the win. Philbin was on the way out until that game.

Here’s an interview of him confirming he’d be back RIGHT AFTER that win:

So yeah, that IS the reason he brought him back for the final year of his contract. So take your trolling elsewhere.

My family had season tickets 4 rows up in the end zone for years. Got rid of them in the mid 2000's. That was the only game ive been to since and probably the last game ill go to for quite a while. The experience isnt fun (although it looks much better now with the renovations) and the team is not only mediocre, but spectacularly boring.

If i remember correctly we had a ridiculous turnover or something in the 4th quarter that led to them scoring points really quickly and i got the **** out of there as soon as possible. remember getting home and hearing they guaranteed another year of philbin and was beyond pissed.

    Well to be balanced:

I was at the Patriot, Dolphin game sept.4, 1994:

Shoot out between Bledsoe and Marino... Pats 35- Dolphins 39, back and forth back and forth to the very end, I mean I had to sit in the seat an hour after the game to recharge after so much anxiety and levels of excitement rarely experienced in my whole life. Couldn't speak for 3 days from the screaming...

Games was unreal .... and after, wished I'd had season tickets ... You know, you grow up watching greatness like most of the old days and just feel sorry for those that have had to be abused by what we've indued the last 15-20 years.

Probably why I've been so negative...I knew quality and it's really been so long since seeing it I've begun to forget what it was.. Especially with the low bar our present team needs to be seen as good again...

wow just got excited thinking about that again..

I don't think we should be scared about the Panthers offense because it has been very inconsistent this season. Look at Cam Newton's last three games:

    @Bears - 211 passing yards, 0 TD / 1 INT, 50 rushing yards
    @Bucs - 154 passing yards, 1 TD / 1 INT, 44 rushing yards
    Falcons - 137 passing yards, 0 TD / 0 INT, 86 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD

He's not throwing the ball particularly well, his saving grace has been that he's run more in recent weeks and the Panthers have managed to play at a high level defensively to keep games tight. Cam Newton is dangerous on his day and you have to respect the threat he brings to the field, but right now his biggest threat is as a runner not a passer, and our defense is capable enough to keep him in check passing wise, but whether we can stop or restrict him running is another matter.

For me, I think this is going to be a tough game and likely be a low scoring game. I can't see us scoring big points against their defense, but at the same time I don't see them scoring big points against our defense. All we have to make sure is that we take our chances because the Panthers are beatable. This isn't the same team that got to the Super Bowl, this one is beatable and has got lucky. I suppose the same argument can be thrown our way, but we can win this game if we play good complimentary football.

Yeah, Newton isn't the problem. It's their defense, which is one of the best in the NFL right now, both in pass and rush. So in no small sense will our fortunes depend on Cutler this game. At least he showed serious improvement the last game.

Ross never wanted to fire him but his hand was forced after what, 4 games into the next season? Philbin’s career was flatlining and then that Vikings fluke win acted as a defibrillator. Ross took the opportunity immediately after that game when there was absolutely NO reason to rush to that decision. It wasn’t even the final game of the season. Ross was deathly afraid he couldn’t justify keeping his guy around if he waited to make an announcement until after the Jets game.
