Well.. he's right in a sense: we don't really know what we have in Tannehill.

Was last year's 8-game stretch from games 6-13 where Tannehill played real well (combined passer rating of 100.13) indicative of how he'll play consistently in the future, or was that just an aberration like the 8-game stretch from games 4-11 in 2014 where he played similarly well (combined passer rating of 102.37) but then couldn't perform like that consistently afterwards?

The data so far is most consistent with Tannehill being an average (or slightly above average) QB with those two 8-game stretches being just better than average stretches every QB has. The only way to prove that wasn't the case, that Tannehill + Gase really is the long sought QB/HC solution in Miami is to see Tannehill with Gase in year 2.

The disaster on offense this season also suggests we should keep Tannehill for next year. But the fact we still do not KNOW what we have in Tannehill IMO suggests we absolutely must draft a QB high for some serious competition.

He's right on some points, though they are pretty obvious. I say you try to draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd at the latest. Tanne, if healthy, should be the starter and if he does great...awesome. He plays and grooms the young guy.

Agree on all accounts. I was quite confident he would look more like the guy during that solid stretch as opposed to his past inconsistent performances. But at this point we need to be drafting a QB, he's 30 coming off knee issues, draft a kid to sit behind him.

I agree 100% with mando's take. RT being injured is keeping us from properly evaluating him and making a final decision on wether he is the man or wether we should look to draft a top QB this year.

Now we have to wait another season.

In my eyes we shouldn't wait. RT has already shown what he is, an average NFL starting QB. If we have a shot at an elite franchise QB this off-season we should definitely go after him.

RT has had more than enough time to prove it and unfortunately he hasn't.

    I think Mando is right.

The positive is RTH stock will be cheaper now that he hasn’t played for 1.5 seasons. Sign him for 2-3 years and then find his replacement. No reason to deal with Cutler, Moore or someone else who’s just as inept.

    He's not right.

These are not just random occurrences. They have shared variables.

I disagree...I think we pretty much know who he is as a player. Great arm, great vision, solid anticipation and trained to stay in the pocket until Gase came along. He's still not great in the pocket but I think every other aspect of his game is solid. I was really looking forward to seeing him this year to eliminate my last few doubts....it's really a shame how things have shaken out.

My big concern is his knee...how much mobility will it cost him in 2018? If it's good to go though then he's my guy.

It's wild that Tanny is already approaching 30.

Mandos take is ,well, Mandos take. My take is Tannehill will rebound from his knee injuries and play really well for us. Of course it remains to be seen if Tanny's mobility is hindered by his injury but MY take says he'll be fine.

Agreeing with mando about RT is a useful litmus test for fan mongoism
