I do Thanksgiving at my house every year for both sides of the family, usually about 35 people, so I'll be busy.

Not too bad though, I provide 3 turkeys and a ham that I get all from Honey Baked Hams. The rest bring side dishes, so that helps.

I'm traveling to my hometown to have the holiday with my parents and sister for the first time since 2003. I moved 450 miles away and worked retail for many years, so I always had to work Wednesday night and early Friday morning until recently. This will be the first time that my wife and kids have ever seen my side of the family on Thanksgiving.

Drinking, eating, napping, and being thankful the Fins don't have a televised game on a national holiday.

I'll say it now since I've got double-duty on Thanksgiving Day, but I hope you all have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

We're visiting family as usual and consuming way too many calories at nicely-spaced three hour intervals, then we'll knock out Christmas shopping Thursday night online. From that point forward it's full recovery mode until kickoff Sunday.

Speaking of which, I think the Fins win outright this week if Moore gets the nod.

Brining a turkey in bourbon and apple cider then deep frying it in peanut oil. Mom's house. Explaining football to the same german friends at my mom's house that I explained to last year and the year before. Cocktails and football and turkey and then probably A Christmas Story.

I guess I'm thankful for my backup team the Vikings.

Took tomorrow off to get some shopping done at the mall.

My wife and I will be having dinner with my parents, my sisters, my aunt, and my cousin on Thursday. I got a turkey from Trader Joe's ready to put in the oven, and I will make some cornbread stuffing. My wife will be making pineapple upside down cake.

Other than that, it will just be watching football and laying around like a bum.

Hahaha, he does. But I meant double-duty as in going to both families the same day. Not the easiest thing to do.

Aah, okay...I'm doing double duty too then! It's rarely fun but at long as you focus on desert at stop #2, everything will work out just fine.

Just moved back up to Michigan to be near my side of the family after 8 years in Austin, TX. Bringing a Costco pumpkin pie, and making a Bloomin' Brie.

For many years in retail, I would have to work noon-3am on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and then be back in at 4am on Friday. It meant that after sleeping in until around 10 or so Thursday, I'd be groggy most of the day before going to bed at 8 that night. Made it hard to enjoy anything.

If anyone MUST shop at a physical store this Friday, please, please, please be kind and understanding to the employees there.

I did the same thing for years and I always thought my bosses were complete jerks for making us work while they sat home with their families. So when I managed a restaurant franchise back in the late 90's and owned my own store shortly thereafter, I made a rule that all locations were closed for every major holiday UNLESS someone really needed the money and wanted to work. If somebody wanted to open the store on their own, they would set the hours and keep 50% of whatever came through the door.

I didn't really make any money off that arrangement but I had some very thankful employees...and that's why I did it.

Holidays should always be about families, it sickens me to see big business turn Thanksgiving into a shopping bonanza. They know deep down that if a struggling mom has to choose between the dinner table or chaos at the mall to save 30% on that one toy her kid won't stop talking about, mom's going to be in the car and racing for the mall. And that's just not cool in my book.

One holiday tradition that I do annually and I'd love to see all of you take on- between the first and second stop on the day, I'll always make up a healthy-sized food plate and bring it by the gas station right down the street. I won't have any idea who's going to be stuck there but hey, why not make someone's Thanksgiving or Christmas a little more merry? I've been doing that for about a dozen years now.

I remember working holidays and people coming in "WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ARE OPEN!" Well, it's because you are coming in, and if I don't I don't have a job. Thanks *******!

I always thought it would be nice if we had federally mandated shutdowns. They do that stuff in the EU. Essential services are the only things to stay open.

I was at the last one. My Dad and I went up did it right. First class plane. Limo. Dinner at Murray's (best steak ever hands freaking down with the brandy peppercorn au poivre NY strip SO good we went back there again the next night). I had gotten us tickets in their club level and to their pre game brunch. Had no problem walking past everyone wearing my personalized Dolphins jersey. We won against Favre's Vikings. Was awesome! Would totally go next year! Moms whole family is from Redwood county in SW Minnesota. Vikings are kinda my backup team and I'm now living through them as the Phins season seems absurdly doomed. There's a big gulf in my fandom of the team but it's nice to still have a team that while probably 80 floors under the Phins from my excitement level is looking very playoff relevant. As an example, I do no real reading on the Vikings during the week and just tune in if there game doesn't conflict with the Dolphins (or we are as embarrassing as we are now where I watch the Vikings live and record the Dolphins).
