Cutler had as many offers outside of Miami as plays Christensen calls a game

from what I remember I think the jets were interested but they never negotiated as you said, I don't remember the 9ers at all but that's 6 of 1 half a dozen of another and its irrelevant lol

There's a new fangled thing called google. You should check it out sometime.

Cutler had serious interest from the Jets and Texans, as well as us. He was also linked to the 9ers, Jags, Browns and Broncos.

Regardless of what you and Sly think, the guy is a 12 year vet. He was going to get offers to start or back up someone. Look around the league at who's still in it and think about it.

This whole thread is silly for so many reasons.

    1) An "Era" does not last 8 games. There has been no Jay Cutler era.

    2) Cutler is almost definitely "one and done" in Miami regardless of how the season unfolds.

    3) If healthy, Cutler is starting this week. So even though we're not in a Jay Cutler era, the implied era clearly isn't over.

in all honesty it wasn't worth my time to even google because I could careless, he retired we brought him back, he was an under preforming 12 year vet not worth bringing him out of retirement for. could have got Fitzpatrick hes won 2 games on 2 starts lol

You cared enough to make an issue of it and call it out.

And again, it wasn't about trying to find a warm body. He had that already with Moore, Fales, and Doughty. It was about him trying to find a guy who he felt could help him win games and hopefully repeat the success of last season. He rolled the dice and he lost.

My concern is how we keep from being put in this position next season. Barring catastrophic set back, Tannehill will return as the starter. Who are they other 2 or 3 QBs going to be? That's the rub.

what if we make a splash and draft a qb and he beats out RT if we have a qb competition? and RT is #2. But I just don't see them getting a qb to keep away from that scenario and forcing RT to be the starter

Not realistic, but that would be ideal and a better start than when Marino took over for Woodley after 5 games in 83.

Right now, I think the team is sold on Tannehill starting and that we're going after a DE or CB in the first and probably an OG or TE in the 2nd. A QB could be taken at any point though. QB rich draft. We need 2 of them.

You have forever ruined the phrase "Lifelong diehard fan".You obviously are neither. Wait until the SB is over and see who wins, you do not even have to watch it. Wake up the next morning and get a Victory T Shirt. Pat yourself on the back and smile. Then please stay away and do not ever add your input to an actual fan conversation....because you are not one. I actually had to run into the shower after reading your post, could not get the stink of it off me fast enough. saddest post I have ever read. Disgusting actually.

I think you're missing the part where 1 team wins the Super Bowl every year and 31 other teams lose.

So when your ****ty Patriots get stomped in the playoffs this season, please be sure to bring all this whining to their fan boards and tell them what a disappointment their organization is. Tell them how they're not worthy of your loyalty because it feels like you have a boo-boo to the brain for liking a team that didn't win it all. And then you can go be some other organization's ***** for a year and pretend to celebrate their greatness, until they get spanked by someone else.

Sounds like a plan to me...good luck with that!

LOL, I think Moore is better than RT...I always have. Tannehill is better in absolutely every QB category but I'm a sucker for true leaders that inspire folks around them. It's the one NFL trait that can't be taught and Moore has it in spades.

To me, it's like comparing a Chihuahua to a Rottweiler...which would you want to protect your house? 99% of the time you want the dog with all the physical attributes and enough smarts to get the job done. But every now and then, in that 1% moment where your house catches on fire in the middle of the night due to faulty Christmas lights, you want that annoying, yappy other little dog taking charge and waking everyone up.

Matt isn't annoying or yappy, but you can see where I'm going with that. I just love his take charge, cool and calm demeanor no matter what's going on. =)

Gase believing that Cutler could steward the ship for a year wasn't a gamble - it was stupidity and an oversimplification on his part. They had one slightly above average year together, but no history nor consistency. This wasn't a Brett Favre kind of situation. When Favre was bouncing around the NFL at the end of his career he was still hugely passionate about the game and wanted to compete for championships. He's wasn't playing the role of a reluctant QB.

Cutler = Control for Adam Gase. His ego about "his" offense is so magnanimous that he couldn't bare the thought of coaching the passing game to Moore's skill sets for a whole year. It comes as no surprise that this year's offense mirrors the personality of Jay Cutler. It was prophesied when he first arrived.

I hate this "either we are a playoff team or we tank" stuff. I want to watch a product that is simply competitive and has players who are easy to root for. Moore IS one of those types of players. That dude bleeds the team colors. Instead we get The Jay Suckler and Adam Gase "Doooooooon't Care" one year reunion tour.

LOTS of people were quick to jump on the Cutler bandwagon when there were reports that he was doing well in practice. MANY suggested we were better off at QB, including some media folks... now these same guys are the ones carrying pitchforks and calling for Gase's head for bringing in Cutler LOL.

We don;t have an abundance of cap room and we don't have a nearly complete roster, so we will not be able to dump underachievers that still play for bargain rookie contracts. Basically he occupies a roster spot and costs the same to plug that hole as he costs if we cut him. It's called dead cap money and he will cost nothing to dump after next year. That's why poorly run franchises cannot just dump and renew every year they realize they have screwed up. If that were the case teams like the Browns and the Dolphins would have like 40 to 50 new players each year.

No matter how hard I try, I remain drawn to this train wreck that is about 5 seconds away from another full fledged rebuild.

Season was in DC dire straits once Tannehill went down. In my opinion Jay Cutler was worth a shot. It didn't work and clearly we need to end the experiment. I'm actually ready to see what Doughty can do. We're not mathematically eliminated yet, bUT as soon as we are I hope Gase puts him in.

Not sure why the doom and gloom for next year. All our injured players are back. Tannehill is back. Asiata might become a starting og. Tunsil will have one year of experience as a ot and should be improved. We get back our rookie linebacker. Get back secondary. Our rookie de will have another year of experience and probably another 10 pounds of muscle. We dont have that many holes. Ol, te, rb, lb. Can be done in one offseason

Ok, I just think we'd probably find that our offense executes at more consistent level, with less TOs and less penalties with Thill. To me, that means he's the better leader.

    Exactly...

If it’s late July and youre looking for a starting quarterback, your season is pretty much over before it began.

Losing Raekwon was also pretty bad, i expected big things out of him from the get go.

So cutler on his salary was fine... some would argue why didnt we go after Kaepernick but i think Gase has made his opinion pretty clear about kaepernick when he threatened to bench players that didnt stand for the anthem

I don't disagree with you there- Tannehill's the man for that and several other reasons (ability to run, stronger arm, better pre-snap reads, more accurate, etc.). I'm just a Matt Moore homer and love watching him play.

This once great franchise continues to alienate its fans by kneeling during games and putting what amounts to 40 yrs of mediocrity on the field. I was the lone wolf questioning the hire or Gace when hired to be right again. Since joining this board there has been 2 or 3 rebuilds. I realized one day this team, it's owner, it's players and it's management are pathetic. The leadership , Steven Ross, has no clue. Definately not a Jerry Jones or Robert Craft so I see no hope anytime now or in the near future.
