So we were at 4th and inches in Q2 yesterday. AND....we punted. To me this is a microcosm of what is wrong with this team. We have no killer instinct and we have no balls from a team mindset standpoint. This comes straight from the coach.

That and in addition our clock management at the end of the first half was crap too.

I wouldn't let Gase wash my car.

Maybe 4th and inches made him feel queasy?

It tells you the level of confidence he has in the line and that in the offseason he was ok with the line. the irony is that the defense wasn't stopping them anyway. so a shorter drive would have given them the ball back anyway. Gase is gutless. He is motionless. He loves to look up in the sky and roll his eyes. In addition, Burke has these players about to commit themselves because they are doing the same thing but ripped ripped for yardage. Imagine 2nd and 24, you rush 4 and play zone? Ugh, get Rex Ryan here. Get a DC that won't take another job as a HC, and maybe, just maybe, you can save on having to spend money on this side of the ball.

Exactly, and he did that last week too and team picked up first down when out blitzing was working. I'm done with Burke. He even did it again later in the game too. Just stupid stupid coaching.

After they fake punted on your @$$ you sat there and didn't go for iton 4th and inches with your offense, your a joke I take more stuff personally than Gase does and his job is on the line.

If it were me yesterday knowing we had a 0% chance of winning I would have went for it multiple times on 4th down and threw in some flea flickers F the patriots!!!

I guess there is a tendency to try and 'keep it close' or 'respectable' as regards the final score. No real effort to actually win the game, just lessen the beating. If it was me, I'd have the defense attacking the whole game. Like body shots to a boxer, you get some shots in on Brady and he will start to miss some throws. Will you get burned for some big plays? Probably, but that just puts your offense back onto the field sooner and the Pats D gets to spend more time on the field instead of resting as the Pats offense dinks and dunks down the field for a score.

The older Brady gets, the more effective this becomes. Or just keep doing those soft zones and hope he misses some throws or they drop some passes and you can get off the field. I'd prefer to make Brady pay a physical cost.

Also, I guess we are not allowed to QB sneak? Brady still does it, with a high success rate, but we can't? Even with a bad OL, you just need to fall forward.

These are some of the things I want to see Gase correct as the season plays out.

If we did go for it, how much confidence do you have in our line to get a push to get that yard?

I didn't have much confidence, and neither should Gase.

The way this team executes, we most likely would have been stuffed. And if we tried to get cute and pass, i am guessing its an incompletion.

i would go for it. Show OL you believe in them, if they screw up it is on them. I actually have less confidence in Gase to call a good play there. he likely would have gone to a bubble screen or pitch behind the line.

There is no defense for them not going for it on 4th and inches. I don't care if they went for it on every other fourth down in the game. There is no reason to have not gone for it.

would you consider john harbaugh a good coach? there have been talks about people wanitng him fired this year, its just part of the deal if your the qb you get all the flak for bad games, if your the coach you get blamed for bad teams.

Well the point of the SEC is that they know where the mountain top is so they need to get there, the acc keeps changing coaches very less frequent because to win the acc championship is a lot easier however when dabo keeps winning youll see Miami, fsu Louisville change coaches more often.

College game changes so much you never know the next guy could win, look at chip Kelly no one seen him and his style of play coming. the NFL is way different in that aspect.

like I said he wont be removed im saying merely he isn't a head coach based off decisions hes made so we are going to be in the same boat next yr when RT is back and we go 7-9 6-10 with RT against a tough schedule unless brady retires. then what's the argument? he needs 4 years and rt needs 8 yrs?

you can tell head coaches when they make moves how they are going to pan out based on their teams, whoever takes the browns job is fighting uphill based off no personnel, we have a decent team we had 10 wins last yr and not all because of RT and lost 1 player and now we win 4 games, even with RT I don't think we win more than 8 this yr if that.

I don't get the criticism for this one. We were on what, our own 30? In a 10 or 11 point game at that point? With an OL that can't get a push on a regular run play, you want to try and go in a tight formation and try and get a push for inches? I mean, given this team, you're essentially giving up there. For this team in it's current state, I'd say we're less likely than the league average to get that conversion which has you giving a top offense in the league an extremely short field making it even easier than usual for them to score.

I get wanting to send the message, tough, hard nosed, run, aggressive, blah blah blah whatever other term you want to use, but you're still in the game at that point, and you're giving it away if you don't get it. So, IMO, all day long you trust your defense to come up with a stop on a long field, rather than short. That is their job afterall.

I get it... but I dont think it's the big deal everyone wants to make this out to be other than to just find another reason to complain.

Um yeah I will if we don't win. Good coaches win games. Maybe you look at them for different accomplishments. I thought we hired a coach to field a team that wins games. No one celebrates Shula for most copies of The Old Man and the Sea or best polo shirt collection.

Yeah we were in the game. 4th and inches. AND we punted. What part are you struggling with? INCHES. We can't get INCHES? I mean seriously? We don't act like we even want to win.

I think he was clamoring for Jay Cutler because Kapernick was the only other option besides Romo who would be a vegetable behind our O-line. Had we actually gone into TC with an actual plan besides T-Hill and his bum wheel and Matt Mcfumble we might actually be in the playoff race. Who did you want as a QB at that point the ice cream truck guy?

That same coach made a decision to keep Moore when he clearly sucks when teams have relevant tape on him. That same coach didn't have a plan and didn't bring any talent in at QB as a backup to T-Hill. So that same coach should be held responsible for the outcome that his lack of planning caused (T-bum too). Oh yeah and then we went and got the QB that same coach wanted who is horrible after the inevitable T-Hill injury happened. What part of that means Gase gets a pass? I mean seriously.

just playing devils advocate here, if as a coach you bring in a guy who is your "guy" and not using the backup that was signed already to the team and paying him a buttload and this was your choice shouldn't you win more than 4 games against all teams who have avg wins of 4.6 in 11 weeks or 5.8 if you count the jets twice, I just counted each team once, taking the pats out of the equation as well. Not saying you make the playoffs but with a backup and having 10 wins last year shouldn't you atleast win .500 with the guy who is "your" guy you brought in?

Yeah bill belichick was held accountable by the browns as well...

I think their are a lot of assertions about Gase and this staff that's not being backed up in any meaningful way.

On topic just because you have nothing to lose doesn't mean going for it on 4th and inches is the right call.

Obviously the coaches thought we couldnt, and... it's more than likely they're right.

Giving up the ball inside your own 35 with plenty of game left to play is acting like you dont want to win. If we were closer to midfield or something, then hell yeah, I'm with you. From where we were on the field, it's not all that smart IMO given the situation in the game.

Sometimes when you are or have no choice but to go for it. As you are down by a lot. It really all depends on clock control!
