I'll be dumping updates on any official Dolphins output on the draft/free agency and the squad in here. Have at it.
"Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said on Wednesday, the Dolphins won’t pass up selecting a quarterback at pick No. 11, even if it isn’t the team’s most significant draft need. “You’ve been around me for a couple of years now,” Grier said to reporters. “We’ve said we’ll always take the best player on our board. I’ve talked from Day 1, we’ve talked about the J.J. Watt thing. At (defensive) end we have (Cameron) Wake and whatever; but if J.J. Watt’s on the draft board and we’re picking, we’re not going to pass on J.J. Watt because at defensive end we feel good about. So, all positions, I mean again, we’re evaluating everything. Every position, it doesn’t matter – quarterback, tackle, defensive tackle, everything’s wide open for us.”"
I'm a big RT supporter, but if one of the top names falls to number 11 I would also like to see them grab one.
That's how I feel as well...I don't think we have any desperate first round needs like in previous years. If we can find a day-one starter at another position then I'm all for it, but otherwise I'm happy with whatever the team sees as the best available name on the board. I know some folks here don't like Grier/Tannenbaum but I feel like they've had two very solid drafts overall.
Ya no desperate needs but i would love a top Lb or TE/WR to bolster but i agree i don't see a rush or panic for anything.
Yeah, I think I'd go linebacker in a heartbeat if there's a clear stud there. I think that's one of the hardest positions to analyze though since we ask LBers to do more than anyone.
A lot of the experts are saying that Gase may want to go DB. The Dolphin's struggled in Dime last year and I think if they could get another stud corner or safety that may be the way to stop TE's from running down their throat.
Unless of course someone is offering a big trade to get that spot. If we can get 2 solid starters, I would take that all day long over QB competition.
