This seems about right. Is it worth it to meet in the middle, $12.5 million dollars?

I don't think so. I appreciate the fire and all that but he's dumb.

I've been a huge supporter of Landry, but I just can't wrap my head around him being worth that much. He had the most catches in the NFL (1st place) for the least yards in the NFL (last place). How does that equal top-5 receiver money? I mean, he's probably the best around when it comes to catching the ball so I'm not knocking the guy....I just can't see it from a financial standpoint.

For instance, in 1986, Duper's best year, he caught 67 passes for 1,313 yards (19.6 average) with 11 TD's. Landry just had 112 catches for 987 yards (8.8 average) and 9 TD's. That's almost double the catches for 400ish less yards in a much more favorable passing league. It seems like we're leaning far too hard on the number of catches and ignoring the production and the penalties.

How can we blame him for the 900 when his routes are all underneath or even 3 yards behind the LoS? Like seriously, cmon lol I could understand if he was getting all 9 routes but that’s very far from the case, on the extreme, opposite end of the spectrum.

No way, let him go. 11 million is a Fair offer, if he is not happy with that let him go.

Landry is just a very good slot receiver. He is not a red zone threat. He is definitely not a deep threat. He does not command double teams and is not a gamechanging receiver.

14 million is ridiculous. His huge amount of catches is because we constantly feed the ball to him on easy short routes, yet our offense still sucked and was one of the worst in the league. He is just not worth that kind of money.

    Goodbye Jarvis, thanks for everything.

Pay him. There are a lot of bad circumstances that came into play with this.

We essentially use Landry as a running back. The league's top paid RB (Bell, Steelers) makes $12.1M a year. Second place is Freeman with the Falcons at $8.3M a year. Then there's 7 others in the 6-8M range. So if we're going to continue using him as a catching RB, we're paying him the highest in the history of the league.

If you pay him as a slot receiver, the math gets even fuzzier since he will inevitably be the highest paid in the history of the league there as well...by a wide margin. But I look at our offense while Landry's been here and we've been dead last in 3rd down conversions...isn't that where your slot guy is supposed to shine? I think people get so caught up in the number of catches that they ignore everything else. Plain and simple, slot receivers are supposed to be golden catching throws over the middle on 3rd and 7ish...we just don't see that in Miami though.

Again, I am a HUGE Landry fan but I can't see how his numbers demand this type of payout- especially when he self-destructed in the last game. I love the guy in the 6-8 range, but we're paying him for Suh-like productivity when that's clearly not what he's bringing.

You blame him because that is all he can do. Stills is the deep threat and he is double-teamed, Parker sucks.

Even though he is my favorite player on the Dolphins since Ricky Williams.. if he won't budge on 14 million see ya bud. We just have way to many holes to fill and this contract will keep us out of contention the next 4 years..

I would go $12 million per year. Parker is not getting a big contract from Miami, but I'd like to not have to add WR corp to the list of needs for this team. At least we'd have Stills and Landry to build from. We still need that elusive #1 WR.

If he insists on $14 million/yr though? No. I'd consider a tag-and-trade scenario though. Landry and a sixth rounder for a third rounder for example. Or you just let him walk. Some team with a ton of cap space will probably pay him, or he can go to the Giants as I suspect he'd like to do.

If he could seperate on a straight line he wouldn't be used like he is.

I don't want Landry to go but 14 mil??? Offer him 12 with some pay for play incentives that could add another million, yds, TDs playoffs etc. Or give him 11 and 5 yrs with options for him year four and five to opt out and head for FA. There are lots of ways to put together a contract to appeal to a player. Most players want long term security more than money, they'll take less possible for more guaranteed.

I want to agree with this but his routes never are long enough for him to even get separation. Separation is more necassary for boundary WRs.

I'm assuming the reason is simply he is not fast enough to get enough space to be a consistent outside threat. You play to his strengths and that is his hands and motor. That's why he is targeted so much.

    I'd say Landry for a 1st or a 2nd and a 4th...I think someone would pay it.

Let him test the market...Keep 11 mil on the table 7 days. If he can get 14 mil, congrats. Less than that and he has to decide. NEVER would I pay Jarvis Landry 14 mil per year.

Even if he did sign for $14m/4 yrs, within 2 years there would probably 10-15 WRs getting more per year.

Well, that's how it goes...every player wants to base their contract on who gets paid the most. They don't look at averages because nobody thinks they're average, so they expect alpha player money. And when a team gives in to a so-so player, now the whole league is saying, "Wait a minute, I'm better than him!" It's a never ending cycle.
